Christian pastor dupes family of eighty thousand rupees, also forcibly converts them

A family in Mumbai has lost one of its family members and lost 80,000 in the ‘healing prayers’ scam.

Shubham Pandit lives in Mumbai with his family. His sister had been diagnosed with cancer and is receiving treatment. But none of the treatment methods seem to have worked and her health continued to deteriorate.

Shubham had then gone to Jalandhar, Punjab with his sister and mother to meet Balwinder Singh, a religious preacher, to cure his sister. He approached a disciple of Balwinder Singh there, who then asked him to go to a church in Tezpur to meet Balwinder.

When the family reached there, they were told that they had to pay ₹1 lakh for ‘treatment’. Since he was unable to pay that, the preacher had demanded him to pay atleast ₹80,000.

After spending more than ₹ 80,000 to stay there for 12 days, the pastor Balwinder forcibly converted them and said he was performing treatment and gave his sister holy water and oil. But, Shubham Pandit’s sister did not survive. The pastor also refused to return the money. Following this, the victim lodged a complaint at the police station. Police are investigating into this matter and have filed an FIR.
