Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah heaped praises on the Christian community for their “significant contributions” to healthcare and education in the state.
Siddaramaiah inaugurated the state-of-the-art linear oscillator radiation therapy service at Baptist Hospital in Bengaluru during the event.
Speaking at the opening of the Linear Accelerator Radiation Therapy Service at Baptist Hospital in Bengaluru on 18 December 2023, Siddaramaiah said “The Christian community has done excellent work in the field of education and health. This community has laid a good foundation for quality education in Udupi and Mangalore. The majority of people in Indian society were deprived of literacy“.
He emphasized the importance of early cancer detection for successful treatment and highlighted the advanced linear oscillator radiation therapy service available at the hospital. Siddaramaiah also suggested that it would be more convenient for rural patients if the doctors at the hospital could communicate in Kannada.
Acknowledging the hospital’s role in providing affordable healthcare to the economically disadvantaged, he noted that while affluent individuals may visit expensive private hospitals, Baptist Hospital prioritizes offering low-cost health services to those struggling in daily life and committed to public service. The Chief Minister pledged the government’s support and cooperation to Baptist Hospital, emphasizing its role in delivering quality treatment to underserved patients similar to a government hospital.
