China has once again gone about showing its true Communist colours, this time by desecrating Mount Kailash and Mansarovar, a place sacred to both Hindus and Buddhists.
Latest satellite images show that China has enhanced the military presence near Mount Kailash and has deployed Surface to Air Missiles (SAM) near the Mansarovar Lake and Rakshastal. These are suspected to be HQ-9 SAM under tarpaulin covers. Defence expert Colonel Vinayak Bhat stated in the India Today report that the HQ-9 system depends on HT-233 radar for fire control, and on Type 305B, Type 120, Type 305A, YLC-20 and DWL-002 radars to search and track targets. The report also said that the deployment patterns shows that four platforms for either four or eight SAM transporter erector launchers (TELs) with three radar ramps.
The report noted that these deployments suggest PLAAF’s heavy dependence on radars for searching and tracking aerial threats.
The SAM deployments are reportedly 90 kms from Indian border.
Satellite images also show that China has gone about constructing new structures in the area. The PLA detachments supposedly meant for convenience and security of pilgrims has now turned into a garrison with hotels and house being build surrounding it by razing down Tibetan homes. These are now manned by the PLA.
The Mansarovar Lake, Rakshastal and Gauri Kund are all part of the Kailash parikrama. A sacred place which is considered as the abode of Lord Shiva has now been made a battle zone by China.
India should bring the world’s attention on China’s brazen desecration of these sacred places and take the communist state to task.
