There was a commotion at St. Isabel Hospital in Mylapore, Chennai, when the relatives of a deceased COVID patient held a protest in front of the Hospital.
Iruthayaraj, a resident of the Thousand Lights area of Chennai, was admitted to St. Isabel Hospital in Mylapore. He received COVID treatment for the past 21 days, for which the hospital charged them ₹ 3 lakhs.
He died on May 27th after failing to respond to medication. However, the hospital has informed them that the body would be released only if they pay an additional ₹ 5 lakh.
On hearing this news, more than 50 relatives besieged the hospital. Police arrived at the scene and spoke with the outraged relatives. The hospital administration and the relatives reached an agreement, and the relatives agreed to pay ₹ 1.5 lakhs. only after the agreed amount, the body of the deceased was released.
