Two individuals have been booked by the Kotturpuram police for allegedly feeding stray dogs on a public road, an act that reportedly violates a recent directive from the Supreme Court regulating such activities. A Community Service Register (CSR) entry has been made in connection with the incident.
According to the complaint filed by Muralidharan Sivalingam, a resident of Pondicherry Road in Kottur, the incident occurred on 7 September at approximately 12:49 PM. Muralidharan claimed he saw two men arrive on a scooter with a food container. When a stray dog approached the vehicle, the pillion rider placed food on the sidewalk before they both left the scene.
Muralidharan captured the act on video using his mobile phone and shared two clips online along with the exact location details. Initially, he said, both the Kotturpuram police and Chennai Corporation officials refused to file his complaint. Frustrated by the lack of response, he took to social media to escalate the matter, tagging the Chennai City Police, Greater Chennai Corporation, Chief Secretary, Minister K. N. Nehru, Mayor R. Priya, the Supreme Court, and the Prime Minister’s Office.
Police later confirmed that the complaint was formally registered, and a CSR issued, although the individuals involved remain unidentified. A police officer noted, “We have recorded the complaint, and further action will be taken in accordance with the law.”
