The body of a 62-year-old man stuffed inside a black plastic bag was found lying along the road near Nerkundram in Chennai on Saturday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Chennai-based businessman, Baskaran (62).
The body was first discovered by the city corporation’s hygiene workers who then informed the police control room. The Virugambakkam police rushed to the spot and launched an investigation. His family has filed a complaint with the police. The body was sent for post-mortem.
The hands and feet of the body was found tied with cloth stuffed in the mouth. The dead body had blood stains on the head and torso. Baskaran’s car was found near the spot where his body was dumped.
Reportedly, Baskaran’s phone was switched off last night and he was unreachable. According to reports money was withdrawn from his ATM card multiple times.
The city police has formed special teams and have launched an investigation. CCTV footages are being scanned to identify the suspects.
Motive of the murder is not clear yet.
This death comes at a time when Opposition parties have raised concerns about the dismal state of law and order in the state.
