Earlier last week, news of the death of a 5th grade student, Preethika, under mysterious circumstances, made rounds across news platforms. The girl, who was a student of the Panchayat Union Middle school in Pachalur, Kodaikanal, had died because of severe burns under suspicious circumstances and was found near the kitchen of her school, on December 15th. Many villagers from the village and nearby towns came together and protested demanding a detailed probe into the child’s death.
Now, the CB-CID have take up a detailed investigation into the case, as they are enquiring students of the school. They have been investigating for the the third consecutive day today. The officials split themselves into 5 teams and enquired the students of the school. Sources also say that the child’s parents were taken to the CB-CID office for investigation.
The first round of investigation has revealed that the child was found after 2 hours of suffering from severe burns. Primary investigation by the Police, ruled out any signs of sexual abuse of the victim. Initially, some reports also said that an empty water can and a matchbox was found at the site.
