Bharatiya Janata Party leader K Annamalai launched a blistering verbal attack on Chief Minister MK Stalin at an event, sharply criticising the state government’s conduct and accusing the leadership of using improper language for central ministers ahead of the 2026 Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly election scheduled for later this year.
Addressing supporters, Annamalai said, “Today, our Chief Minister has not stopped with that; he is moving to the next stage. He says it is not Amit Shah, but Avadhuru Shah, he is speaking defamatorily it seems, so he (the Chief Minister) has given Amit Shah the name ‘Avadhuru Shah’.” He went on to challenge the state’s ruling leadership, asserting: “Sir, Chief Minister, with great responsibility, humility, and dignity, I ask you: can we call you ‘Muttāl MK Stalin’ [‘Fool MK Stalin’] for running the government in a foolish manner? Would it even take one minute to say that?”
Annamalai further criticised what he described as the need for “restraint of the tongue,” and alleged that such restraint was lacking not only among DMK ministers but also with the Chief Minister himself. He added: “But restraint of the tongue is needed — not only for the ministers of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, but also for the Chief Minister himself. To speak back, would it take even one minute for us, sir? We have never been afraid of you. And we are never going to be afraid of you.”
