Breaking: Former President of India Pranab Mukherjee passes away at 84

Former President of India Pranab Mukherjee passed away at 84. He had been undergoing treatment at the Army hospital after having been admitted earlier this month. He had been subjected to an emergency-life-saving surgery due to a blood clot in his brain.

This news was conveyed by his son, Abhijit Mukherjee in a tweet, which said, “#PranabMukherjee has just passed away in spite of the best efforts of Doctors of RR Hospital & prayers, duas & prarthanas from people throughout India! I thank all of You”.

Pranab Mukherjee, 84, had been on ventilator support. He had been admitted to hospital on August 10 and had surgery the same day for the removal of a clot in the brain. He had also tested positive for coronavirus.   Last week, he developed a lung infection.

Earlier today, it was reported that he had gone into a coma after a ‘septic shock’ in his brain. Pranab Mukherjee had served as President from 2012 to 2017.
