In Koriya, Chhattisgarh, norms of social distancing were reportedly flouted during a protest arranged by Congress MLA Vinay Jaiswal.
The protest was organized in demand of reinstating the 32 workers of a company. Jaiswal said, “The company South Eastern Coalfields Ltd. sacked the workers in fake probe during the previous BJP government in the state.”
In a video of the incident, Jaiswal was seen surrounded by nearly a dozen protesters and some can be seen without masks. They raised slogans and held placards against the sacking of the workers amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Notably, the Chhattisgarh government has mandated that every citizen should wear masks outside. It has also announced that those who are not following norms will be fined Rs. 100. On Friday, authorities stated that Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel had chaired a meeting of top officials, in which points like possibilities of reopening of educational institutes and mandatory wearing of the mask to stop the spread of corona virus, and other important decisions were taken.
