The first public bus stop in Ward 134, Arya Gowda Road, has been inaugurated with a prominent image of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, drawing attention for its political branding. The structure was built using the local area development funds of BJP councillor Uma Anandan, the party’s sole elected representative in the Greater Chennai Corporation.
Anandan shared an image of the newly constructed bus shelter on her official X (formerly Twitter) handle, highlighting it as a contribution made through her councillor development fund. “The first bus stop in Ward 134, Arya Gowda Road, Chennai with our Hon’ble Prime Minister’s picture. Built out of my councillor fund,” she posted.
The bus stop comes amid ongoing efforts by local BJP leaders to expand the party’s visibility and presence in the state capital, where the BJP remains a strong yet minor force compared to the dominant Dravidian parties.
