BJP TN Chief Annamalai Slams DMK Councillor For Mocking Anna University Sexual Assault Victim

Tamil Nadu BJP President K Annamalai has condemned the Chennai Corporation DMK councillor who mocked the woman victim in the Anna University campus sexual assault case. DMK functionary Gnanasekar allegedly committed the assault. The council member not only belittled the victim but also expressed alarmingly regressive views, dismissing the seriousness of the case by suggesting that incidents of rape occur everywhere and questioning why anyone should indulge in “drama” over it. His remarks were seen as an indirect mockery of Annamalai’s efforts to advocate for the victim’s cause.

In response to the insensitive remarks made by DMK 184th ward councilor S.V. Ravichandran, BJP President K. Annamalai took to his official X account to criticize him, stating, “After an Anna University student was sexually assaulted by a DMK functionary, the entire state of Tamil Nadu has raised concerns about women’s safety. The video of S.V. Ravichandran, a member of the 184th ward of the Chennai Corporation and president of the 14th zone committee, making vulgar comments about the victim at a Chennai city council meeting is deeply shocking. #ShameOnYouStalin. Who gave him the audacity to insult the victim just because the accused is from his party? This person named, S.V. Ravichandran was arrested in goondas act for encroaching on vacant lots and buildings in the Perungudi and Velachery areas during the 2006-2011 DMK regime, who was notorious for land grabbing activities. It’s no surprise that such individuals are sent to the city council by the DMK, which is a haven for all kinds of scoundrels. Hence, Ravichandran claims it’s a whip made of cotton. I’ll bring the whip I have at my house in Coimbatore. It’s a cotton whip, let’s test it on him. Ready?

In the video added the DMK 184th ward councilor S.V. Ravichandran, said, “For some girl going somewhere to love someone and a case being filed by someone by somewhere. We did not flag ourselves with whip made of cotton. We need to protest, where to be protested. We need to register it here. We need to register the grievance of the public here. Someone loved someone and somebody registered a case. Am I creating a scene by flogging myself with a whip made of cotton? No. I’m questioning in the court of people.”
