The Government of India has blocked the X account of Austrian economist Gunther Fehlinger-Jahn after he posted a controversial message calling for the “dismantling of India” along with a map of Khalistan.

Fehlinger-Jahn, in his now-deleted post, wrote: “I call to dismantle India into ExIndia. @narendramodi is Russia’s man. We need friends of freedom for @KhalistanNet.”

The post quickly went viral and sparked outrage online.

The Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology flagged the post and directed X to withhold access to the account for users in India. The account has since been disabled domestically.

Gunther Fehlinger-Jahn is known as President of the Austrian Committee for NATO Membership of Ukraine, Kosovo, Bosnia, and Austria, and also serves on the board of the Action Group for Regional Economic Integration of the Southern Balkans.

The post triggered a wave of anger on social media, with users condemning the remarks against India.

Had Supported Rahul Gandhi For PM

In 2023, Gunther Fehlinger-Jahn had publicly urged support for Rahul Gandhi in the run-up to the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. However, the Congress leader suffered another defeat, with his party once again failing to cross the 100-seat mark.
