Ancient Kalabhairavar Idol Unearthed During Palm Tuber Harvest Near Tiruchirambalam In Thanjavur

Farmers have discovered a 1.5-foot-tall stone idol of Kalabhairavar while digging for tubers near Tiruchirambalam in Thanjavur district.

A dam on the Madathikadu Agni River, located near Tiruchirambalam in Thanjavur district, is surrounded by sandy areas where local farmers have planted palm seeds and are harvesting the mature palm tubers.

During this process, Murugesan, a 30-year-old resident of Madathikadu village, discovered a 1.5-foot-tall stone idol of Kalabhairavar while digging up the tubers. The villagers, upon finding the idol, adorned it with garlands and offered their prayers. They promptly informed Bhuvana, the Tiruchirambalam circle Revenue inspector and the V.A.O. of Thuruvikadu. Upon arriving at the scene, the officials seized the idol and handed it over to Sukumar, the Tahsildar of Pattukottai.
