General Secretary of the Kongu Desa Makkal Katchi (KDMK) and Tiruchengode MLA E.R. Eswaran has been under fire from various sections for his speech during the recently concluded Tamil Nadu Assembly session.
Easwaran, had told the Tamil Nadu State Assembly that the DMK has made Tamil Nadu lift its head high by avoiding ‘Jai Hind’ in the Governor’s address. He thanked Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin for refraining from using the words “Jai Hind,” which the previous ADMK government used.
Many including several army men from Tamil Nadu had lashed out at the DMK ally for his seditious speech.
In light of this, Mr. Muthuramalingam, Central Committe Member of the All India Forward Bloc has said that they will organize a state wide agitation if Easwaran doesn’t apologize for his remarks.
In his statement, Muthuramalingam said “The word ‘Jai Hind’, which has been there in the previous Governments did not appear in this year’s Governor’s address. Easwaran’s speech that not using Jai Hind has made Tamil Nadu left its head high with pride has caused great pain to all patriots across the country. The word ‘Jai ind’ was first uttered by Tamil Nadu freedom fighter Chembakaraman Pillai. It means ‘victory to India’. Does Easwaran know this?”
“Subhash Chandra Bose, who fought for our country, used the word ‘Jai Hind’ to inspire people on the battlefield. It is the motto of patriotism that is uttered daily by different people – from school children to soldiers. This cannot be considered as an identity for a particular race or a distinction for language.” he further added.
“Eswaran, who was sworn in as an MLA with the pledge to ‘protect the sovereignty of the country’, has questioned the very same with his speech. He should publicly apologize for his comments. His remarks should be removed from the Assembly record. Failure to apologize will lead to the All India Forward Bloc carrying out a protest across Tamil Nadu condemning Eeswaran.”, he concluded.
