Leader of the Opposition and AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami (EPS) has strongly criticized the ruling DMK government over the complete breakdown of law and order in Tamil Nadu. Referring to two recent incidents in Arakkonam, EPS questioned the DMK’s governance and the silence of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin.
In a post on his official X account, EPS wrote, “For a chaotic government, Arakkonam is the testimony!” His remarks come in the wake of two serious developments, the arrest of DMK municipal councillor Babu for allegedly possessing unlicensed firearms in public, and the controversial sexual harassment case involving a college student.
EPS highlighted that the survivor in the sexual abuse case, linked to DMK Youth Wing functionary Deivaseyal, had released an emotional video stating that she was being intimidated by the police. The student alleged not only police threats but also that her personal statements were leaked online, violating her dignity and further traumatizing her.
“Why is the DMK shielding Deivaseyal?” EPS questioned, suggesting that the protection might be aimed at hiding a bigger political player involved behind the scenes. “Who is that ‘SIR’?” he asked, vowing that such questions would persist until justice is delivered to the survivor.
He also criticized the administration for its double standards, “When we protest against such atrocities, we face restrictions. But the DMK is free to hold public meetings in support of the accused,” he said, adding that Tamil Nadu’s streets now see school students carrying machetes and automatic weapons, painting a grim picture of public safety.
EPS further questioned how a ruling party councillor could possess modern firearms without authorization, and said such lawlessness should prompt any responsible Chief Minister to hang his head in shame. “But Stalin won’t,” he added.
Concluding his remarks, EPS urged the people of Tamil Nadu to remain vigilant. “As I always say, until this regime ends, the people themselves must protect themselves – especially from the DMK people,” he warned.

Reports are emerging that two individuals, including DMK councillor Babu from Arakkonam, have been arrested for possessing two firearms without proper authorization. In this situation, the victim in the Arakkonam sexual assault case released a tearful video yesterday, stating that she is being threatened by the DMK government’s police.
The DMK Youth Wing functionary Deivaseyal allegedly deceives a student—subjected her to harassment to yield to the sexual desires of several DMK members. When the student bravely filed a complaint, the police began to intimidate her. Since the police act as an extension of the DMK Youth Wing, they are refusing to take any action.
A DMK municipal councillor possesses firearms without the proper licenses! Intoxicated youths carry knives—machetes are found in schoolbags, and now, automatic rifles are becoming common in Tamil Nadu. Is this not what I’ve been calling the “chaotic Stalin model” of governance? Why does Mr. @mkstalin get angry when I point out this truth? When we protest against these injustices, we face restrictions; but the DMK holds public meetings in support of the accused. I ask you, @mkstalin—don’t you feel any shame? Why is the DMK protecting Deivaseyal so fiercely? By shielding him, are they trying to protect or cover up a more powerful political figure behind the scenes? If so, who is that “SIR”? Until the victimized student receives justice, our questions will not stop.
What answer does @mkstalin have to the question—how did a DMK councillor get his hands on a modern firearm? With law and order in such disarray, any good Chief Minister would hang his head in shame. But, he’s not going to do all that.. As I always say, until this regime ends, the people themselves must protect themselves – especially from the DMK people!”
