After Expulsion FromAIADMK, Is KA Sengottaiyan Set for Top Post In Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam?

In a significant political development, former AIADMK minister KA Sengottaiyan is poised to formally join the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) led by actor-politician Vijay, amid intense speculation that he will be rewarded with a senior organizational position.

The move comes weeks after Sengottaiyan was expelled from the AIADMK, a party he served for five decades. The veteran leader, reflecting on his exit, told reporters, “After 50 years of hard work for the party, the only reward I received is expulsion. You who have shared my hardship will know this heartbreak well.”

The impending switch was set in motion as over 50 former AIADMK functionaries, led by Sengottaiyan’s supporter and former MP Sathiyabama, departed from Gobichettipalayam and Coimbatore for Chennai. According to reports, the group is scheduled to formally join TVK in the presence of party president Vijay at the TVK headquarters in Panaiyur.

While Sengottaiyan’s entry into TVK appears certain, the specific post he will be offered remains a key question. Conflicting reports are circulating within political circles: some sources indicate he will be appointed the party’s Organization General Secretary, a pivotal role that leverages his vast administrative experience.

Other reports, however, suggest he may be given the charge of Western Regional General Secretary, a position still significant but with a more zonal focus.

The question now looming is not if Sengottaiyan will join TVK, but what role he will be given. Will it be the powerful, party-wide mantle of Organization General Secretary, or the strategic regional command of Western General Secretary? The answer is expected to be revealed at the formal induction ceremony, signaling TVK’s strategy for integrating established political figures into its structure.
