After Derogating Kaali, Leena Manimekalai Once Again Spews Venom To Prove Her Point

Alleged film-maker named Leena Manimekalai who has grabbed limelight with her derogatory depiction of Hindu Goddess Kaali has once again unleashed venom against Hindus in an attempt to prove her point.

On 2 July 2022, Leena Manimekalai shared on her social media about the release of her recent film ‘Kaali’ at the Aga Khan Museum in Toronto, Canada.

In the poster shared, the Hindu Goddess is shown smoking a cigarette causing outrage at a time when when killings are being reported over alleged blasphemy of Prophet Mohammad.

The Indian High Commission in Canada, taking cognizance of the derogatory poster had issued a statement about the disrespectful portrayal of the Hindu Goddess following which Aga Khan Museum withdrew and cancelled the screening of Manimekalai’s film.

Disgruntled over the setback, Leena Manimekalai has been on a tweet spree sharing her interviews that she had given to leftist portals in which she defends her objectionable portrayal of the Hindu Goddess while claiming that she feels unsafe.

In one tweet, she shared a picture in which two people assumed to be a part of local drama troupe are in the costumes of Lord Sivan and Goddess Sakthi. The person in the Shakti costume can be seen having a cigarette.

Facing backlash once again, Leena Manimekalai took cover stating that this was not from her film and that it was from “everyday rural India”.

Leena Manimekalai has been defending her position on the Kaali poster row by de-Hinduizing Hindu Gods stating that Kaali is part of ‘folklore’ and not part of Hindu pantheon.

This de-Hinduization of Hindu Gods is a standard narrative template used by evangelical and Dravidian Stockists in order to break the cultural ethos and make the underprivileged prey to the two major Abrahamic religions.
