Afghanistan NSA Hamdullah Mohib calls Pakistan “Brothel House”, sparks diplomatic row

A war of words has broken out between Afganistan and Pakistan after the Afghan National Security Adviser (NSA) Hamdullah Mohib levelled called Pakistan a “brothel house” which has led to a diplomatic row evoking a strong reaction from Islamabad.

As per The Express Tribune, Pakistan is furious over the Afghan NSA’s unpalatable comment and an official of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs under anonymity has said that their reaction has been conveyed to Afghanistan in unequivocally terms.

On Sunday, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said, “Afghan National Security Adviser, listen carefully! No Pakistani will shake hands or engage with you if you don’t stop uttering derogatory remarks against Pakistan,”.

“You equate Pakistan with a brothel house. Shame on you,” Qureshi added. “My blood has been boiling ever since you uttered these words.”

Afganistan and Pakistan share a border that is 2,600 km long and there are also serious border disputes and the comment was made when the US forces are withdrawing from Afghanistan that has the potential to throw this country into another civil war.

For Pakistan, Afganistan is seen as its strategic backyard and the Afghan government has longstanding reservations that Pakistan has been using the Afghan Taliban as a proxy and blame it for stoking violence in Afghanistan.
