At the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) state conference in Madurai, large-scale damage to hired furniture has been reported after unruly behaviour by sections of actor Vijay’s fans.
A supplier from Dindigul said that out of 15,000 chairs brought for the event, nearly 500 were broken. Each chair was valued between ₹300 and ₹350, resulting in significant losses for the business. “Half of our investment is gone. We don’t know if we’ll get any compensation,” he said.
The supplier alleged that fans climbed and stood on the chairs in groups, with up to 10 people piling onto a single chair, causing them to collapse. He added that attempts to stop the crowd were met with hostility, forcing workers to remain outside the venue.
