Aasife Biryani Banner Promoting Special Offer For ‘Non-Veg’ During Sacred Purattasi Month Removed After Hindu Munnani’s Intervention

Aasife Biryani Banner Promoting Special Offer For 'Non-Veg' During Sacred Purattasi Month Removed After Hindu Munnani's Intervention

Law enforcement authorities have removed a banner from a Muslim restaurant named Aasife Biryani in Chidambaram that was deemed offensive to local Hindus for promoting non-vegetarian food during the sacred Purattasi month, which many found disrespectful.

The non-vegetarian restaurant Aasife Biryani displayed a banner promoting a special offer for the month of Purattasi: free parottas with the purchase of non-veg gravy as part of a “Parotta Mela.”

Given that Purattasi is considered a sacred month in Hinduism, especially for Perumal (Lord Vishnu), local residents expressed their discontent, stating that such promotions were disrespectful and hurtful to their sentiments. In response, members of the Hindu organization “Hindu Munnani” filed a complaint with the police to have the banner removed, arguing that the slogans mocked their beliefs and insulted their religion. Following this complaint, law enforcement took swift action and removed the offending advertisements from the area.
