Anusuya Daisy Ernest, a retired police officer, who was in-charge of security the night when Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated, has lashed out at those celebrating the release of the man convicted of killing the former Prime Minister.
In a telephonic interview to Zee News Tamil, Anusuya called Perarivalan a man convicted of crime, a terrorist and a ‘blood-thirsty’ murderer.
“Isn’t he a murdered? The court has just granted mercy to a murderer. He hasn’t been declared an innocent. Why are so many supporting him?”, she said.
“Hasn’t he killed a Prime Minister? He has killed 9 police officers. 9 other people have been killed. He isn’t innocent. Is he a freedom fighter? He has taken my hands. He would’ve taken my life. My breast and eyes still have the sharpnels of the bomb. He is a bloody terrorist and a blood-thirsty murderer. He is being given big media publicity. You (media) are only making him a big deal.”, the former sub-inspector said.
Anusuya also said that life imprisonment means incarceration for life and that Perarivalan, who was a death-row convicted deserved to be jailed for life.
“He may have been released now but God is definitely going to take his life. He has killed so many people. He is a blood-thirsty animal. This Supreme Court may have released him today but he is definitely going to die some day. He has killed so many people. A rabid animal.”, she added.
The retired woman cop also added that this will now encourage other convicts who are currently serving their sentence for their release soon.
“Why are the those convicted of Coimbatore bombings still in jail? Let them also be released. Let’s throw open all jails. Let’s free all terrorists and murderers.”, she lashed out.
“Just because he killed a Prime Minister he is a VIP convict, is it? And others convicted of crime are ‘ordinary convicts’, is it? They will also ask for their release now.”, she said.
Anusuya Daisy who was involved in the security arrangements for the former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi when he was campaigning for the Lok Sabha elections in Sriperumbudur, survived the blast but had been severely injured. She had lost two fingers on her left hand and even today carries the pellets of the bomb inside her body.
