Kerala BJP pushes for probe in the state’s land mafia scam in the CM’s constituency

The Kerala wing of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Kerala has demanded a probe into the land mafia scam that has been going on in the CM’s constituency of Dharmadam. It went on to claim that a large land mafia group has been operating in the area and that the government should look into the issue. Many such scams are being reported in the region, following which the probe has been sought for. Several landowners have reported of being ditched after their lands had been sold using forged documents illegally.

It was also reported that the land meant for the heirs post the death of the father was being encroached and sold without the landowners’ knowledge. Even the District Collector’s order had been forged by the mafia group.

This is not the first time that a case of land mafia has been reported since there have also been cases where there have been letters written to the government to prevent moves by a private company to grab the land of the Marakkunnam Kunnil Mahadeva Temple near Neyardam and also the land owned by families residing nearby. The temple is reportedly situated in the land purchased in the name of the late Swami Satyananda Saraswathi of Sreeramadasa Ashram, and a private company was accused of trying to grab the temple land and also the adjacent residential plots for a water treatment plant of Kerala Water Authority (KWA). Further probe has been sought into this issue by regional BJP leader Surendiran.
