Ted Yoho resigned from the board of Bread for the World, a Christian charitable organisation working to eradicate hunger. This move has come as a result of his face-off with Democratic Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez from New York.
This was confirmed by the Deputy Director of Strategic Communications and Campaigns for Bread for the World, Chris Ford, on Saturday in a statement issued to CNN. It was reported that the organisation has sought his resignation as an action to reform the commitment to women or people of colour, nationally and globally in the path to a racially inclusive and equitable world.
“We believe that Rep. Ted Yoho’s recent actions and words as reported in the media are not reflective of the ethical standards expected of members of our Board of Directors,” the organization wrote in a statement.
Ted Yoho faced flak after calling Democrat representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez a ‘f*****g b***h’ outside a courthouse when she had gone there to vote. Ocasio-Cortez on Friday rejected Yoho’s claim that “no one was accosted, bullied or attacked” during their exchange this week, saying that Yoho and a Texas Republican lawmaker were both lying as she revealed new details about the viral incident.
Bread for the World is a Christian advocacy organization based in the United States. It has ties with many NGOs linked to the church in India.
