It seems all is not well in Afghanistan after leaked audio purportedly belonging to Taliban leader Mullah Fazel Akhund who could be heard saying “Punjab destroyed everything” has gone viral on social media.
It all started after Pakistan’s intelligence chief, General Faiz Hameed went to Kabul to sort out the hotly contested Taliban’s cabinet which many factions in Afghanistan did not welcome and according to reports, Mullah Akhund refers to ISI chief General Faiz Hameed recent visit to Afghanistan as “guest (ISI chief) who ruined Afghanistan’s entire future and another war is expecting”.

After the Taliban announced its cabinet it was criticised for not being an inclusive government and leaving out women and other minorities from the cabinet.
Taliban in fact named globally designated Islamic terrorist Sirajuddin Haqqani as the country’s interior minister and as the leader of the Haqqani Network he is still on the FBI’s most-wanted list.
Pakistan which holds several family members of the Taliban leaders as a hostage in its quest for strategic depth put pressure on the Taliban to include people like Khalil Haqqani who is known to be a proxy of the ISI and Faiz Hameed visit to Kabul was not to mediate between the Taliban and the Haqqanis but give the full support of his army to those who are under its so-called positive control.
A while back Pakistan minister Sheikh Rashid had reportedly said, “We are the custodians of Taliban leaders,” adding and we gave them shelter, education, and a home in Pakistan.”
As the landlocked country faces severe shortages of food and other essential items, Pakistan’s ambassador to Afghanistan Mansoor Ahmad Khan informed that his country had sent a military aircraft carrying relief goods including flour, cooking oil and medicine and other relief flights will also arrive in Kandahar and Khost.
