Ravi Nair, the self-proclaimed “independent investigative journalist” whose byline graces the trash of leftist propaganda outlets like The Wire and NewsClick, is nothing more than a serial peddler of half-baked hit pieces designed to sabotage India’s economic rise.
A magistrate court in Mansa, Gandhinagar, has convicted journalist Ravi Nair in a criminal defamation case and sentenced him to one year of imprisonment along with a monetary fine.
The case arose from a complaint filed by Adani Enterprises Ltd (AEL), the flagship company of the Adani Group, which alleged that Nair had published and circulated a series of tweets containing false and defamatory statements targeting the company and the conglomerate.
In its complaint, AEL contended that the posts in question did not constitute fair comment or legitimate criticism but were intended to harm the company’s reputation and erode public and investor confidence.
Following trial proceedings, the court held that the complainant had successfully substantiated its allegations. The magistrate found Ravi Nair guilty of criminal defamation, convicted him, and awarded a sentence of one year’s imprisonment in addition to imposing a fine.
