Pew Research Center: China’s unpopularity hits all time high, world has no confidence in Xi Jinping

As per a poll conducted by the global research giant, Pew Research Center, China’s unpopularity has hit an all-time according to reports in Hindustan Times.

This extensive polling was conducted as the world is trying to fight the Wuhan virus. Pew conducted polls in 14 advanced economies, and a majority of the people who participated in the poll had negative views about China.

The median of 73% people held such views overall and Australia polled at the highest with 81% see China unfavourably followed by nations like Germany, the United Kingdom (UK), the United States (US), Netherlands, Canada, Spain, Sweden and South Korea.

Hitting the high double-digits with unfavourable views against China over the last year are the UK, Germany, Netherlands, Sweden, the US, Spain and South Korea.

The main reason for nations having a very high negative view of China is due to the widespread criticism over how China has handled the coronavirus pandemic

The survey also covered Chinese President Xi Jinping. and  78% say they have not too much or no confidence in him to do the right thing regarding world affairs. Incidentally, Pew did not conduct this survey in India as the tension at the Line of Actual Control is still high.
