TN CM writes to Union Minister to allocate 10,000 seats to state under BPO scheme

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami has urged the Central Government to allocate 10000 seats to Tamil Nadu under the India BPO Promotion Scheme.

In the letter written to Union Minister for Communications, Electronics & Information Technology Ravi Shankar Prasad, CM Palaniswami congratulated the government for taking the initiative to create 48,300 seats under the scheme and said that the scheme has been successful in Tamil Nadu providing 7,705 seats in Software Technology Parks of India, Chennai jurisdiction (7605 in Tamil Nadu and 100 in Puducherry).

The Chief Minister said that the success rate of the scheme in Tamil Nadu in terms of commencement of operation is more than 93% resulting in direct employment for 8387 people and a further 16,774 indirect jobs. He said that he scheme is in line with the state’s vision to create employment in Tier II and Tier III areas.

“In view of the tremendous success of this scheme in Tamil Nadu, I request you to allot 10,000 seats under the India BPO Promotion Scheme to Tamil Nadu.”, CM Palaniswami said in his letter to the Union Minister.
