Senior BJP leader H Raja on Sunday, 9 November 2025, levelled sharp criticism against the ruling DMK government, alleging a severe deterioration of law and order in Tamil Nadu.
Speaking to reporters after attending the 60th anniversary celebrations of Dharmapuram Aatheenam Masilamani Desika Gnanasambandha Paramacharya Swamigal, Raja claimed that 6,700 murders have taken place during the DMK’s four-and-a-half-year tenure.
“The present mood of the people is against the DMK government, and they will vote for the National Democratic Alliance,” Raja said, expressing confidence that Tamil Nadu would reject the ruling party in the 2026 Assembly election. “The people of Tamil Nadu will drive away this evil force, DMK, otherwise the state cannot be saved,” he added.
Raja also alleged that a sexual assault case is reported every two hours in the state, accusing the government of failing to ensure safety for women. “What is the greatest achievement in 9,000 years? Tamil Nadu today ranks number one in violence against women,” he said.
Referring to Chief Minister MK Stalin’s earlier remarks that Tamil Nadu was “number one in law and order,” Raja countered that the claim was unfounded. “Stalin, who commands a police force that does not know how to protect the people, spoke arrogantly like this,” he remarked, adding, “There is an English proverb — pride goes before a fall. Pride goes before destruction. Stalin’s arrogance will lead to his downfall.”
Raja’s comments come amid growing political exchanges between the BJP and DMK over crime rates and women’s safety in Tamil Nadu.
