2100 kg ashtadhatu bell at Ram Mandir: A symbol of Hindu-Muslim unity

Construction work on the grand Ram Temple in Ayodhya has begun. The Uttar Pradesh government has ordered one of the petitioners, Nirmoki Akara, to make a grand bell for the Ram temple.

The ‘order’ was given to Vikas Mittal of Jalesar, a traditional bell maker. Dau Dayal, who has been making temple bells for 4 generations, took charge of making this bell.

The designer of the bell is a Muslim named Iqbal Mistry. 25 Hindu and Muslim artisans have been working together for 4 months to make the bell.

The ashtadhatu bell is made of a combination of eight metals — gold, silver, copper, zinc, lead, tin, iron and mercury. It is a single piece from the bottom to top.

This bell once installed will be the biggest bell in the country. It is said that the sound of this bell could be heard up to 15 kms.

It cost ₹21 lakh to make this bell and is being donated to the Ram Temple by Nirmohi Akhara.
