13 US armed forces personnel and several killed in bomb blast at Kabul airport

Embattled President of the United States (US) Joe Biden has said that he will avenge the killing of 13 US armed forces personnel who died in the suicide bombing attacks at the Kabul airport in Afghanistan, reports Hindustan Times.

Speaking at the White House, Biden said, “To those who carried out this attack as well as anyone who wishes America harm know this: We will not forgive. We will not forget. We will hunt you down and make you pay.” He also said, “We have some reason to believe we know who they are … not certain.”

Vice President Kamla Harris called the dead and wounded Americans heroes and said, “Doug and I grieve for the Americans we lost, we pray for the Americans injured in the attack, and our hearts go out to their loved ones. We also grieve for the Afghan civilians killed and injured. Our country is grateful to all our women and men in uniform, and in particular, those working today to get Americans and our Afghan partners out of harm’s way. And we will complete that mission,”.

As per reports, 13 US marines were killed and as many as 18 more were injured amid the evacuation efforts led by the US and other countries to get US servicemen and Afghan citizens who helped them ahead of Biden’s 31 August withdrawal deadline.

CNN reports that the terror attack was carried out by ISIS-Khorasan and US’ Department of Defence had also warned of a similar attack earlier this year.
