A poster of the film Ajey: The Untold Story of a Yogi, that releases on 19 September 2025 based on the life of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, was vandalised earlier this week outside the historic Woodlands Theatre in Chennai.

Eyewitnesses reported that two unidentified individuals were seen defacing the promotional material displayed outside the theatre. The incident has not yet been reported by mainstream media outlets but has drawn attention on social media, where users shared visuals of the damaged poster and condemned the act.

The film, inspired by Shantanu Gupta’s book The Monk Who Became Chief Minister, stars Anant Joshi in the lead role. It traces Adityanath’s journey from a boy in Uttarakhand to a Hindu monk and later the Chief Minister of India’s most populous state.

The movie had earlier faced restrictions abroad, with reports of a ban in Qatar and Saudi Arabia. Many on social media have accused the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) government in Tamil Nadu of fostering an environment of intolerance towards Hindi and Hindu culture, allegations that the state government has denied in the past regarding similar incidents.

The Chennai Police have not yet issued an official statement regarding the incident or confirmed if a formal complaint has been registered.

The makers of “AJEY: The Untold Story of a yogi” unveiled the trailer of the upcoming film and it showcases the extraordinary journey of a young man from humble beginnings to a spiritual seeker.

The film is inspired by Shantanu Gupta’s bestselling book The Monk Who Became Chief Minister. Slated to release on 19 September, the film stars Anantvijay Joshi, Paresh Rawal, Dinesh Lal Yadav and Ajay Mengi.

The trailer begins with shots of Garhwal, glimpses of Ajay’s family, and early friendships, leading up to his life-changing decision to take sanyas. It sparks his spiritual journey in a land ruled by gangsters and bahubali politicians. Peace soon gives way to conflict as he challenges a corrupt system, moving from spiritual rituals to decisive leadership and reform.

The trailer captures both the turbulence of an unruly land and the depth of Ajay Anand’s inner journey. The film traces the personal sacrifices and ideological evolution that shape Ajay’s transformation, blending drama, inspiration, and spiritual essence. Directed by Ravindra Gautam and produced by Ritu Mengi, AJEY is written by Dilip Bachchan Jha & Priyank Dubey and the stirring music is by Meet Bros.

The director of photography is Vishnu Rao, production designer is Udai Prakash Singh and associate producers are (Suuraj Sinngh) B-Live Productions and Itihasa Academy. Ravindra Gautam said: “AJEY is a story of transformation, resilience, and vision, capturing the journey of a simple young man from the hills of Uttarakhand to a life devoted to service and leadership.”

Producer Ritu Mengi shared that the film “explores conviction, sacrifice, and leadership, showing both the public and private life of the protagonist and the choices that shaped his journey.” The Monk Who Became Chief Minister is a biography of Yogi Adityanath, the 22nd Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. It is written by Shantanu Gupta, an Indian author and political analyst. The book came out on 25 August 2017.

The Mukhyamantri Yuva Udyami Vikas Abhiyan (CM-YUVA) is fast emerging as a movement for self-employment across Uttar Pradesh. The ambitious scheme aims to nurture new-age entrepreneurs by providing business enthusiasts monetary assistance as well as entrepreneurial training. The state government is set to launch a dedicated campaign across universities, colleges and educational institutions to connect with young people and help promote self-employment opportunities.

After identifying the ‘suitable’ candidates, the youth will be empowered with financial support of up to Rs 5 lakh to help them become self-reliant entrepreneurs. A two-day capacity-building workshop was recently held at Niryat Bhawan in Lucknow, focusing on improving the rollout of the scheme and enhancing the functionality of the CM Yuva Portal. A dedicated campaign will soon be launched across all 75 districts, under which special teams of officials will visit universities, engineering colleges, and other higher educational institutions to identify students in their final year, as well as those who remain unemployed despite completing their studies. Once identified, eligible youth will be offered interest-free, collateral-free loans of up to Rs 5 lakh to help them start their own ventures and become job creators. According to Sarveshwar Shukla, Joint Commissioner of Industries and nodal officer of the scheme, the primary goal of the Yogi government is to empower every eligible, educated, and progressive-thinking youth by helping them launch their businesses.

The vision is to transition youth from “seeking jobs” to “creating jobs.” Along with financial support, technical guidance will also be provided to ensure the success of these entrepreneurial initiatives. Under this initiative, more than 2.5 lakh youth have already applied for loans, out of which over 1.10 lakh applications have been forwarded to banks, and loans have been sanctioned to over 53,000 applicants, with 40,000 already receiving funds. A significant number of women, as well as youth from OBC, SC, and minority communities, have participated in the scheme and are now walking the path of self-reliance. Young entrepreneurs have launched their ventures with the funds in diverse sectors, ranging from cake manufacturing and digital marketing to interior design, laundry services, solar panel installation, tattoo studios, and mineral water plants.

Hindu Munnani is set to organize a grand Murugan Devotees Conference in Madurai on Sunday, 22 June 2025, at Madurai, with prominent national leaders including Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan scheduled to attend as chief guests.

Former Meghalaya Governor Shri Shanmuganathan has also been invited.

The event aims to raise awareness about the neglect of Tamil Nadu’s Murugan temples, especially the revered Arupadai Veedu — the six abodes of Lord Murugan, which hold deep spiritual significance for Tamil Hindus across the world. The organizers have highlighted poor maintenance, lack of basic amenities for padayatra devotees, and the ongoing threat to temple lands and sacred hills through encroachment.

Despite the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) department collecting thousands of crores from devotees, complaints persist regarding the condition of these temples. The Hindu Munnani has stressed that the Madras High Court’s directives on temple maintenance and asset protection have not been effectively implemented.

The conference is being positioned as a spiritual and cultural assertion of Tamil Hindus’ right to worship and protect their traditions. It is the duty of every Tamil Hindu to safeguard our temples, our god, and our right to worship.

Hindu Munnani’s South Bharat organizer Shri K. Bhakthan formally invited various dignitaries.

DMK HR&CE Minister Statement

However, the event has drawn sharp criticism from the ruling DMK. Tamil Nadu’s HR&CE Minister Sekar Babu dismissed the conference, claiming that “true Murugan devotees will not attend” the gathering organized by Hindu organizations. Speaking in Nellai while inspecting the renovation works at the Nellaiappar Temple, he alleged that the conference is politically motivated and divisive.

“A conference that aims to divide people on the basis of religion and language will definitely not be attended by those who have true devotion to Murugan. You know when they will come? On 7 July 2025, at Tiruchendur, something we’ve never seen before. We would have heard such things only in the northern states. But never seen before in history, in Tamil Nadu, temple renovations worth ₹400 crore are nearing completion, and the Kudamuzhukku (consecration) ceremony will be held soon. We’ll celebrate with a week-long festival — and it is only for that festival that true devotees of Murugan will come,” said Sekar Babu.

The upcoming Madurai event is expected to see participation from thousands of Murugan devotees, asserting not only faith but also demanding accountability and better governance of temple affairs in Tamil Nadu.

The legendary dancer and choreographer Prabhu Deva, who captured the hearts of 90s kids with his electrifying moves met with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Shri Yogi Adityanath at his official residence in Lucknow today. The meeting was said to be regarding the upcoming Telugu mythological epic Kannappa, a film that has already generated significant buzz across India.

Prabhu Deva, often called as India’s Michael Jackson by his fans, became a household name in the 90s with iconic dance numbers like Chikku Bukku Rayile from Gentleman and Urvashi Urvashi from Kadhalan. Now, decades later, the dance maestro continues to inspire, this time as part of the Kannappa team, where he is reportedly set to choreograph a song for the film.

The delegation, which also included Dr. M. Mohan Babu, Chancellor of Mohan Babu University, actor Vishnu Manchu, and Vinay Maheshwari, was warmly received by CM Yogi Adityanath. During the meeting, the team presented the Chief Minister with thoughtful gifts, including a glass painting and a red box, symbolizing the cultural exchange between the Telugu film industry and Uttar Pradesh’s leadership. In a gesture of support, CM Yogi Adityanath signed the Kannappa poster and extended his best wishes for the film’s success.

Kannappa, a movie based on the legend of a devoted follower of Lord Shiva, stars Vishnu Manchu in the titular role, with a stellar ensemble cast including Mohanlal, Akshay Kumar, Prabhas, and Kajal Aggarwal. Originally slated for release on April 25, 2025, the film’s launch has been postponed, with new dates yet to be announced. The project, which has been in the making for nearly a decade, promises to be a visual spectacle, blending pan-Indian talent with a powerful narrative.

The meeting in Lucknow highlighted the growing synergy between India’s political and entertainment spheres, with CM Yogi Adityanath expressing his appreciation for the team’s efforts in bringing such a culturally significant story to the big screen. For 90s kids, seeing Prabhu Deva in the spotlight once again was a nostalgic treat, reaffirming his timeless appeal as a dance legend who continues to make waves in the industry.
As Kannappa gears up for its release, fans eagerly await the magic that Prabhu Deva will bring to the film, hoping for a glimpse of the same energy that made them dance along to his tunes in the 90s.

Tamil Nadu BJP President Annamalai has fiercely criticized Chief Minister MK Stalin, accusing him of being a “con artist” pretending to defend the constitution. This comes amid the escalating controversy surrounding the three-language policy, which has sparked debates across states. Recently, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also called out the hypocrisy of the ruling DMK in Tamil Nadu.

In a post on his official X account, Annamalai responded to the criticism of Stalin, saying, “Thiru @mkstalin, you are a con artist masquerading as a protector of our constitution & our federal structure. Usually, con artists scam the rich, but DMK shows no disparity; they scam both the rich and the poor. The whole country now knows that the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu’s family owns private schools that teach three languages & more but opposes the same policy for the state’s Government school students. They are calling you a hypocrite, Thiru @mkstalin. TN CM thinks that the orchestrated drama by his partymen in pockets here and there reflects the voice of entire TN. It is also unfortunate that you haven’t realised that your attempts to divert people’s attention to insignificant matters have been exposed. Live in your blissful world of ignorance, Thiru @mkstalin. We will not disturb you.”

Annamalai’s pointed rebuttal to CM MK Stalin came in response to Stalin’s recent remarks, which were a reply to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s statement. Adityanath had accused the DMK of attempting to create divisions whenever they felt their vote bank was under threat, specifically regarding the three-language policy debate.

In his response, Stalin claimed that Tamil Nadu’s firm position on the Two Language Policy and Fair Delimitation was gaining nationwide attention, which, according to him, was unsettling the BJP. Furthermore, he mocked Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s comments on hate, stating, “Spare us. This isn’t irony—it’s political black comedy at its worst,” and emphasized that the DMK doesn’t oppose any language but stands against imposition and linguistic chauvinism, asserting that the issue isn’t about “riot-for-votes politics” but rather a fight for dignity and justice.

Chief Minister MK Satlin said, “Tamil Nadu’s fair and firm voice on #TwoLanguagePolicy and #FairDelimitation is echoing nationwide—and the BJP is clearly rattled. Just watch their leaders’ interviews. And now Hon’ble Yogi Adityanath wants to lecture us on hate? Spare us. This isn’t irony—it’s political black comedy at its darkest. We don’t oppose any language; we oppose imposition and chauvinism. This isn’t riot-for-votes politics. This is a battle for dignity and justice.”

The Times of India (TOI) has once again demonstrated its penchant for sensationalism by grossly misrepresenting Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s statements on the pollution of the Ganga. In its headline, TOI falsely claims that Yogiblames Britishers for Ganga pollutionand suggests that he declaredWesterners shouldn’t give gyan to Indians on river cleaning. However, a careful examination of the CM’s actual speech reveals that this is nothing more than a deliberate distortion of facts.

What Yogi Adityanath Actually Said

Yogi Adityanath’s speech in the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council provided a factual historical account of how Kanpur became a critical point of pollution for the Ganga. He said, Mother Ganga travels 1,000km in UP from Bijnor to Ballia. In this 1000km journey, the most critical point of the river was Kanpur. And this critical point was not for Uttar Pradesh. It was Kanpur that was the critical point in the entire 2500 km stretch from Gangotri to Gangasagar. For 125 years, 4 crore litres of sewage was drained into the Ganga at Sisamau. We are grateful to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for ensuring the river’s cleanliness through the Namami Gange scheme. He had deployed the funds in 2015 itself but the then Samajwadi Party which was ruling did not take any steps to implement it. Those people who talk about pollution, are the same people who could not do anything during their time. And when we got the chance, the double-engine Sarkar converted the sewer point at Sisamau to a selfie point. Today, the sewer is not emptied into the river at Kanpur. How did the sewer point come into existence in the first placeit was there from the British era. The western thinkers who preach to us today do not see their deeds and they said that the river that was called polluted is still as sacred and pure for the followers of Sanatana Dharma.”

At no point did Yogi Adityanathblamethe British in an accusatory sense—he merely acknowledged the historical reality that industrial sewage dumping into the Ganga at Kanpur began during colonial rule. Likewise, his comment about Westernthinkerswas not a sweeping dismissal but a call for introspection. He simply pointed out the irony of those who ignore their own environmental failures while lecturing India on river conservation.

Despite these clear facts, TOI chose to manipulate Yogi’s words into a misleading narrative. Their headline suggests that the Chief Minister was attempting to absolve contemporary polluters and solely pin the blame on the British. In reality, he was explaining the origins of the problem while highlighting his administration’s efforts to rectify it.

Furthermore, TOI framed his remark on Westerners as a blanket rejection of foreign expertise on environmental issues. In truth, Yogi merely pointed out that the Ganga remains sacred to millions, and those who now offer unsolicited advice should first acknowledge their own past actions.

Not The First Time

This is not the first time TOI or other mainstream media outlets have twisted the statements of leaders who do not fit their ideological mould.

In January 2025, Times of India published an obituary for senior Maoist leader Chalapathi that massively downplayed his violent legacy and instead glorified him as a “military strategist” and an “intellectual.” The article highlighted his reading habits and multilingual abilities while failing to acknowledge the countless lives lost due to his orchestrated attacks.

It presented his role in the Maoist movement in a sanitized manner, omitting the suffering of victims and the security forces’ efforts to combat insurgency. Instead of condemning his violent actions, the piece seemed to mourn his death, continuing the media’s pattern of romanticizing terrorists and extremists.

Once again in January 2025, Times of India twisted the story of Bangladeshi national Shariful Fakir, who allegedly stabbed actor Saif Ali Khan, by portraying him as a victim of poverty and systemic injustice rather than a criminal. Instead of focusing on his illegal entry, violent crime, and the dangers of unchecked immigration, TOI highlighted his struggles, ailing mother, and admiration for Shah Rukh Khan.

The article downplayed the security risks posed by illegal immigration and framed Fakir’s actions as a result of desperation, effectively excusing his crime. This continues TOI’s trend of humanizing criminals while ignoring the broader law-and-order implications.

In September 2023, Times of India’s chief cartoonist, Sandeep Adhwaryu, published a cartoon in response to the Ujjain rape case, portraying Hindus as indifferent to the victim’s suffering. The cartoon sparked outrage, as many saw it as Hinduphobic propaganda that ignored the fact that a Hindu priest and a local man, Rahul Sharma, helped the girl.

A complaint was filed against TOI and the cartoonist, demanding legal action. Following backlash, Adhwaryu removed the TOI logo from the cartoon, claimed it was done in a personal capacity, and issued an apology—not for the cartoon itself, but for misusing TOI’s logo.

Instead of engaging in fair reporting, TOI seems more interested in pushing sensationalist angles that suit its editorial bias. The article conveniently omits the Chief Minister’s acknowledgment of the river’s self-purifying nature and his emphasis on the economic benefits of Maha Kumbh, which TOI buried under its misleading headline.

By twisting Yogi Adityanath’s words, TOI has once again prioritized clickbait over truth. In an era where misinformation is rampant, responsible journalism is not just a duty—it is a necessity.

The Uttar Pradesh government has ordered a fresh probe into the 1978 riots in Sambhal and asked police to submit a report within a week. The Superintendent of Police (SP) received a letter from the Deputy Secretary of the Home (Police) Department, appointing an Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) to lead the probe.

Additionally, the SP has written to the District Magistrate (DM) requesting the appointment of an administrative officer for a joint investigation. On January 7, Sambhal SP KK Bishnoi wrote a letter to Sambhal District Officer Dr Rajendra Pensia and informed that UP Legislative Council member Shrichandra Sharma demanded an inquiry into the 1978 riots in Sambhal. On this, he has received a letter from UP’s Deputy Secretary of Home and Superintendent of Police (Human Rights). In such a situation, Sambhal SP Shrichandra will be involved in the investigation on behalf of the police.

The riots of 1978 in Sambhal reportedly caused significant communal unrest, leading to large-scale violence, arson, and the displacement of several Hindu families. Survivors have stated that many Hindus were killed during the riots, forcing them to flee the area. This renewed interest in the riots comes shortly after the reopening of the ancient Kartik Mahadev Temple in Sambhal, which had been closed for 46 years. The temple’s reopening followed a violent incident during a survey at Shahi Jama Masjid on November 24, 2024.

Former residents who had fled due to the riots recounted their harrowing experiences and welcomed the temple’s reopening, which they believe marks a step toward justice and reconciliation. The joint investigation aims to shed light on the events of 1978 and ensure accountability for the violence.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday took a potshot at Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra over her symbolic support for Palestine using a bag. He sought to shed light on how Israel ranked higher in priority for his government and the Centre and also how this “association” was yielding better gains for the state’s youth.

“A Congress leader goes to show off her bag with ‘Palestine’ emblazoned on it while the government has already sent more than 5,500 youths from Uttar Pradesh to Israel who are engaged in infrastructure projects there and earning handsome wages in return,” Chief Minister said, addressing the House on the second day of UP Assembly’s winter session.

He said that youths from the state are living happily and in a secure environment they are also earning more than 1.5 lakh per month. “Whatever they send back contributes to the state’s economy and interestingly, there has been increasing demand from Israel as the UP youths have made their mark with hard work,” he added.

CM Yogi’s taunt on Priyanka comes in the wake of criticism that the Congress MP invited after she carried a bag flaunting Palestine tag. Many BJP leaders rebuked the Congress lawmaker over her Monday’s gesture and called it “crass communal posturing”.

As Priyanka’s gesture for extending support to Palestine with her handbag stoked a major row, she also hit back at critics. “Who is going to decide what clothes I wear now? Who is going to decide that? That’s typical patriarchy that you decide what women wear also. I don’t subscribe to that. I will wear what I want,” she told the newspersons.

Notably, the bag that Wayanad MP carried to Parliament on Monday had ‘Palestine’ emblazoned on it. It also featured a watermelon, symbol signifying support to the war-torn nation. Notably, the Congress General Secretary has been vociferous over Israel’s military offensive against Palestine, which followed after dastardly terror attacks by Hamas in October last year.
