The Election Commission of India on Thursday, 22 January 2026, allotted the ‘whistle’ symbol to actor-politician Vijay’s party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, for the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.

The newly formed party had approached the Election Commission on 11 November 2025, seeking the allotment of an election symbol under the provisions of the Election Symbols (Reservation and Allotment) Order, 1968. TVK submitted a list of ten symbols for consideration, including seven symbols from the Commission’s list of free symbols and three symbols created by the party.

It is noteworthy that “Whistle Podu” was a popular number from his film GOAT and he also acted in a movie called “Whistle”.
