The Karnataka State Administrative Tribunal (KSAT) has stayed the suspension of Praveen Kumar K.P., a Panchayat Development Officer from Raichur district, who was earlier suspended for participating in a Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) centenary event. The case had sparked a political confrontation between the ruling Congress and the opposition BJP.

Kumar, posted in Sirwar taluk, attended an RSS route march in Lingsugur on 12 October 2025 wearing the organisation’s uniform and carrying a stick. The Rural Development and Panchayat Raj (RDPR) Department suspended him on grounds of violating Rule 3 of the Karnataka Civil Services (Conduct) Rules, 2021, which mandates political neutrality and conduct consistent with public service.

The suspension order, issued by IAS officer Arundhati Chandrashekar, described his participation as “inconsistent with the standards expected of a public servant.” Kumar was placed under suspension with subsistence allowance pending inquiry.

BJP MP Tejasvi Surya criticised the suspension, calling it “illegal and unlawful.” He stated on social media that he had spoken to the officer and would “personally appear before the concerned tribunal and courts to challenge” the decision, citing previous court rulings upholding government servants’ right to participate in RSS programmes.

On 30 October 2025, Surya confirmed that the KSAT had stayed the suspension. In a post on X, he wrote, “My law office had challenged the arbitrary suspension of PDO Praveen Kumar for participating in the RSS Pathasanchalana in Lingasugur, Raichur, before the Hon’ble Karnataka State Administrative Tribunal. KSAT has today stayed the suspension order which was mechanically passed due to political pressure. This should serve as a lesson to the Congress Govt that no amount of intimidation can deter the nation-building ideals of RSS.”

Ayyappa devotees gathered at Pandalam on Monday in a counter-event to the Global Ayyappa Summit organised by the Kerala LDF government and Travancore Devaswom Board at Pamba. Led by the Sabarimala Karma Samithi, the Sabarimala Samrakshana Sammelanam was attended by political, spiritual, and Hindu organisational leaders. BJP figures including Karnataka MP Tejasvi Surya, former TN BJP chief K. Annamalai, and Union minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar accused Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan of hypocrisy, alleging attempts to hoodwink devotees and commercialise Sabarimala.

Speaking at the gathering, BJP MP from Karnataka Tejasvi Surya launched a scathing attack on the Kerala government, calling the Global Ayyappa Sangamam organised by the LDF regime and Travancore Devaswom Board “ironic” and “hypocritical.” He said that an atheist communist government holding an Ayyappa conference was equivalent to “the devil quoting scripture” or “a mutton shop organising a welfare programme for goats and chickens.”

Surya, who attended the event alongside former Tamil Nadu BJP chief K Annamalai, began his address by paying respects to the puja swamis on stage and the Ayyappa devotees present. Speaking on the first day of Navaratri, he described the occasion as the start of establishing a dharma samraajya in Kerala.

He said he was surprised to learn that the atheist, anti-Hindu communist government was organising a global Ayyappa conference and called it a “drama” aimed at hoodwinking devotees. Citing Karl Marx and Joseph Stalin’s description of religion as “the opium of the masses,” he argued that communists, by doctrine, opposed faith in God, and therefore had no moral right to organise a religious conference.

Surya claimed that photographs of the state-sponsored conference showed empty chairs, while the Pandalam event was filled with thousands of genuine devotees. He accused Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan of inviting Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. K. Stalin to the Sangamam, and questioned why Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah was not invited. Surya remarked that had Siddaramaiah joined, the list of “anti-Hindu leaders” from the three southern states, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka would have been complete, calling them “the trimurtis of anti-Hindu politics.”

He drew parallels between the Kerala event and the recent controversy in Karnataka’s Dharmasthala temple, where allegations of mass burials were raised by a YouTuber and a masked former employee. Surya alleged that activists, lawyers, and journalists with communist leanings created a conspiracy to discredit the temple by demanding an SIT probe into claims of “1,000 murders.” He recounted that despite 16 days of police excavations across identified sites, not a single bone or skeleton was recovered. Tejasvi said that the Siddaramaiah government’s anti-Hindu mindset was exposed, and its subsequent attempts to portray devotion were merely political drama.

Extending the comparison to Sabarimala, he said that the same “duplicity” was at play in Kerala, where those who once attempted to destroy temples were now claiming to protect traditions. He stated that both he and Annamalai had come not as guests but as representatives of millions of Ayyappa devotees from Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.

Turning to infrastructure issues, Surya criticised the Kerala government’s 50-year master plan for Sabarimala. He said the temple receives donations of around ₹400 crore annually, yet the government had budgeted only ₹1,000 crore over five decades. He argued that in four years, donations would surpass that figure and accused the government of showing more urgency in scams than in providing basic facilities like clean toilets, a maintained Pamba River, and adequate dharmashalas for pilgrims.

He described the communists as “fraudsters” who mask themselves with words like “democratic” and “liberal” while being neither. He asserted that leaders such as Siddaramaiah in Karnataka, Stalin in Tamil Nadu, and Vijayan in Kerala were “wearing the same anti-Hindu mask” and needed to be exposed.

Surya demanded that before the Kerala government claimed moral authority to organise a global conference, it must first withdraw its affidavit in the Supreme Court opposing Sabarimala traditions and file a fresh one supporting them. He also called for the withdrawal of thousands of cases filed against devotees during the 2017–18 namajapa protests.

Concluding his address, Surya declared that without fulfilling these conditions, the “atheist communist and anti-Sanatana dharma government” of Pinarayi Vijayan had no right to speak about Ayyappa or his devotees. He pledged that the “dharma yudha” that began on Navaratri would continue until the communist government in Kerala was “booted out” and replaced by a BJP government that respects traditions, with the blessings of devotees.

The Lok Sabha witnessed a heated exchange on 2 April 2025 as BJP MP Tejasvi Surya delivered a blistering counter to DMK MP Dayanidhi Maran’s allegations against the Waqf Amendment Bill, systematically dismantling claims of anti-minority bias with legal precision and historical evidence.

Maran, speaking against the bill, had accused the government of targeting Muslim properties while ignoring corporate debts and practicing divisive politics. He cited the BJP’s reduced seat count in Uttar Pradesh (from 71 in 2014 to 36 in 2024) as proof that itspolitics of hatehad failed. He further claimed the government was systematically sidelining minorities, warning, First Muslims, then Christians, then Dalits—soon there will be no one left.”

Exposing theConstitutional Fraud’

Surya began by arguing that the Waqf laws enacted by the Congress over the decades had established an entity more powerful than the government itself. He called it,seven decades of constitutional fraud perpetuated by the Congress and its allies through previous Waqf laws. He cited Section 40 of the 2013 Waqf Amendment, which granted Waqf Boards unchecked power to declare any property as Waqf land based solely on belief”without documentation or due process. He described this as a direct assault on property rights, as affected individuals were left with no legal recourse except appealing to a Waqf tribunal, which he called akangaroo court.”

“Where in the world does a body get to act as prosecutor, judge, and executioner? Surya demanded.

“This Frankenstein monster was created by the Congress, enabling land grabs with no right to appeal. He cited cases from Karnataka where farmers lost ancestral lands overnight, linking some suicides to these seizures.

Addressing the Land Encroachment Issue

Refuting Maran’s rhetoric about Hindu land being taken away, Surya pointed to the vast land holdings under Waqf control. He highlighted the case of Karnataka, where he alleged that 15,000 acres of land in a single district had been taken over by the Waqf Board, often at the cost of farmers who had tilled the land for generations. He further argued that such unilateral powers had led to multiple farmer suicides due to sudden land encroachments.

The Discriminatory Nature of Waqf Laws

The BJP MP also dismantled the opposition’s secularism argument, highlighting Congress’ double standards—freezing Hindu claims via the 1991 Places of Worship Act while empowering Waqf Boards to appropriate land under the 1995 and 2013 amendments. Why should Hindus, Jains, or Christians have no say in Waqf governance when their lands are at risk? he challenged.

Calling Out Vote-Bank Politics

In response to Maran’s allegations that the government was targeting minorities, Surya turned the tables by accusing the opposition of indulging in vote-bank politics. He noted that while the 1991 Places of Worship Act prevented Hindus from reclaiming historical sites, the 1995 Waqf Act gave Waqf Boards unchecked powers to claim lands. He exposed what he called the Congress party’s double standards, stating that their version of secularism favored appeasement over true equality.

Quoting Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s poetry, Surya concluded with a civilizational rebuttal: Hindus don’t covet others’ lands. Our ethos wins hearts, not territory. The speech left the opposition scrambling, with AIMIM’s Asaduddin Owaisi repeatedly interrupting before being silenced by the Speaker.

BJP National Yuva Morcha President and BJP MP Tejasvi Surya on Saturday criticised the Congress, saying that the entire left ecosystem has gone into a ‘frenzy mode’ after the Prime Minister Narendra Modi exposed the Congress government’s fake promises.

“To fund freebies, Congress is siphoning money off the common man’s pocket. Claiming to give benefits, but looting the same people is a strategy that is bound to fail. What PM Modi has highlighted is how aware citizens are and making informed choices like they made in Haryana,” he said. He added that the Congress leaders cannot “suppress” PM Modi’s message with their “shrill rhetoric” and “name-calling”. “PM Modi’s message to be vigilant from the Congress fake promises reflect the ground reality in Karnataka,” he said. “The whole Left ecosystem, starting with the Congress Chief Mallikarjun Kharge to Congress Chief Ministers across states, seem to have gotten into a frenzy and have become desperate to hide the truth that PM Modi exposed in his posts on fake promises by the Congress,” he stated.

He added that what PM Modi has highlighted is a living reality in Karnataka as the unsustainable freebie model has wreaked havoc on the state’s developmental journey in the last 1.5 years which has severely crippled the pace of progress. He said that development has taken a backfoot in the state because of the unsustainable guarantees that the Congress party is trying to keep alive. “To accommodate freebies – although there is a budgetary provision made, the Chief Minister has achieved the provision by reducing the budget in other key sectors,” he said.

He claimed that the agricultural budget has been reduced by 38 per cent; the irrigation budget – crucial for many North Karnataka districts and in South Karnataka too – has been reduced by 17 per cent; the Capital Expenditure is down by 13 per cent; for Education, 11 per cent budget is allocated while State Average is 14.7 per cent. He added that the state government’s budget has allocated merely 0.6 per cent towards Urban Development, against other states average of 3.5 per cent. “Inadequate funds have pushed Bengaluru infra from bad to worse. About Rs 13,000 crore of SC/ST funds have been redirected to fund the freebies,” Surya said.

He claimed that every MLA across all party lines is seen complaining about the lack of funds for local area development. “The government stopped Rs 4000 that was earlier added as State Contribution to PM Kisan Fund, directly impacting over 58 Lakh farmers,” he further claimed. He also claimed that while government hospitals do not have medicines at their pharmacies due to lack of funds, legacy institutions like KSRTC are being pushed to 100s of crores of losses. “All this is done to keep the evidently unsustainable guarantees alive,” he alleged.

BJP National Youth President and MP Tejasvi Surya on Friday questioned Chief Minister Siddaramaiah asking him if is he ‘turning Karnataka into a Pakistan’ after the officers in Vijayapura district are mulling to include thousands of acres of land to Wakf board. Addressing a press conference in Bengaluru, Surya said that the officials of Vijayapura district are all set to include the lands of farmers to the Wakf Board as per the directions of Minister for Wakf, Minority Affairs and Housing B.Z. Zameer Ahmad Khan. “However, there is no documentary proof of how the land belongs to the Wakf board. Siddaramaiah and Minister Zameer, are you trying to make Karnataka into a Pakistan,” Surya said.

He added that many people do not know why the Central government is bringing amendments to the Wakf Act. “Minister Zameer visited a few districts and instructed the Deputy Commissioners to register the properties claimed by the Wakf board in 15 days. After getting instructions from the minister, the officers are changing the land records. In Vijayanagara district alone, the Wakf board is claiming 15,000 acres as its land,” he said. He claimed that the government is all set to “humiliate” Hindus and allot land to Muslims. “The Deputy Commissioners and tehsildars should run the government as per the Constitution. It should not be run as per the Sharia laws. They can’t take instructions from Minister Zameer or a Mulla and carry out orders,” Surya said. He said that state government persists with its policies he will approach the High Court and Lokayukta and get the officers suspended. “There is an attempt to take as much land as possible before the Central government brings the new Wakf law. Let the farmers from any part of the state come to my office if they face problems from the Wakf board. I will get justice in the High Court,” he assured.

He said that this is India and would run like Pakistan. “In the name of Wakf, the Congress has committed fraud with Muslims. Wakf means the properties provided by Allah. If the Wakf board encroached land, a notice can be issued and it could be investigated. Under Section 40, the ownership could be claimed. This amendment was brought by the Congress in 1995,” he stated. He claimed that the Congress has brought the Wakf Tribunal for Muslim votes, adding that the Congress has let the Wakf board take away lands through the law.

“To stop this, the central government is initiating the amendment of the Wakf law. All these games will stop when the Wakf Amendments are passed in the Parliamentary session this December,” he said. A delegation of farmers from Vijayapura district who had got notices had met Tejasvi Surya at his office and shared their woes. BJP MLA from Vijayapura Basanagouda Patil Yatnal has held a massive convention of farmers recently and warned the officials not to trouble the farmers. He had also given a call not to receive notice from the authorities.

The Pondy Lit Fest 2023 is underway at Puducherry. As a part of the event, the SMaRT – Swarajya Awards 2023 were presented to eminent personalities. Lok Sabha MP Tejasvi Surya also delivered the keynote address at the opening ceremony.

In his speech, Tejasvi Surya reflected on the remarkable progress our country has made in the past decade and emphasised the importance of the wisdom imparted by our ancient rishis, who encouraged us to strive for strength. He commended the festival organizers for bringing together discussions on various aspects of society, politics, and the economy onto a single platform and for their determination in hosting the event despite the challenges that came their way.

Bharat Shakti And Strategic Autonomy

During his address, Tejasvi Surya remembered the successful conclusion of the G-20 Presidency and its global implications, and that the present is an opportune time to engage in these discussions. He pointed out the achievements of the Chandrayaan-3 mission and the outstanding performances of Indian athletes in various sports. He emphasised that a consistent and strong political leadership was the foremost factor responsible for India’s remarkable progress in the social, economic, cultural, and political domains over the past nine years.

Quest For Strategic Autonomy

He highlighted that the vision of our Rishis is to attain strategic autonomy and be free from foreign control. Then he quotes Sri Aurobindo’s words on strategic autonomy – “Our ideal is that of a Swarajya free from foreign control. We claim the right of every nation to live its own life by its own energies, according to its own nature and ideals. We reject the claim of aliens to force upon us from a civilization inferior to our own or to keep us out of our inheritance on the untenable ground of a superior fitness while admitting the stains and defects which long subjection has induced upon our native capacity. We are conscious of that capacity and energy reviving in us.”

Markers Of A Decade Of Achievements

Tejasvi Surya reminded that in the years before the NDA government, previous administrations faced significant challenges in effectively addressing terrorism, both domestically and at the borders. He underscored a notable achievement of zero terror casualties in the nation outside conflict zones.

He also highlighted the government’s approach to quelling the efforts of Naxal outfits attempting to establish a corridor from Pasupati (in Nepal) to Tirupati (in AP), attributing this success to a departure from ideological constraints in political, economic, and cultural discourses.

Tejasvi also affirmed the need for acquiring strength and quoted Sri Aurobindo to emphasise this point: ‘The first thing and the last thing that we must seek, the one essential thing is strength.’

The 9 Years Of Modi

  • Tejasvi Surya reiterated the nation’s economic progress by stating that ‘13.5 crore people were lifted out of poverty in the last seven years.’ He highlighted that the current estimate of poor individuals in India is less than 60 million, which is half of what it was in 2017, a third of what it was in 2015, and less than a quarter of the number that existed in 2012. In addition, he pointed out how access to bank accounts, clean and safe energy, and housing has improved for the poor of India.
  • Numerous countries have expressed interest in adopting India’s Digital Public Goods (DPG) and Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) systems. This system has undergone periodic enhancements and has demonstrated its reliability at India’s population scale.
  • He emphasised India’s significant progress toward achieving strategic autonomy by transforming it into a key player in manufacturing and a stable node in supply chain logistics. Tejasvi reiterated that we are no longer perceived solely as a market by the West.
  • Tejasvi Surya recalled how the country effectively managed the pressure from global pharmaceutical lobbies during the pandemic. The success of India’s vaccination drive and the handling of the pandemic now firmly exemplify our strength.
  • Another significant indicator of this is the recently passed Digital Data Protection Act. He pointed out how multinational corporations were attempting to prevent data localization in India and essentially establish India as their data colony.
  • He also highlighted India’s foreign policy evolution, which has transcended domestic pressures and enabled the country to engage on a multipolar level from a position of strength. During the recently concluded G-20 summit, the announcement of the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor was made, a development poised to be a game-changer. He reminded us of India’s prudent economic decisions during the pandemic, in stark contrast to other nations that resorted to printing money and are now grappling with deep inflation.

 Threat to Sanathana Dharma

In tune with the recent remarks made around “eradicating Sanathana Dharma” Tejasvi Surya warned that if we lose our political strength, we risk reverting to a colonial mindset, where demeaning our own culture becomes commonplace. He pointed out how a prominent leader from the ruling party in Tamil Nadu called for the eradication of Sanatana Dharma, which is the cultural essence of our nation. He also said that such lingering threats go back to the colonial era and it’s essential for Hindus to remain vigilant and protect cultural heritage.

Tejasvi Surya ended the address very aptly by quoting Sri Aurobindo on Sanatana Dharma – “When, therefore, it is said that India shall rise, it is the Sanathana Dharma that shall rise. When it is said that India shall be great, it is the Sanathana Dharma that shall be great. When it is said that India shall expand and extend herself, it is the Sanathana Dharma that shall expand and extend itself all over the world. It is for the Dharma and by the Dharma that India exists.”

He said that a three-way contest might end up beneficial to the DMK which has a formidable alliance.

Speaking last, Tamil Nadu BJP President Annamalai shed light on how the state has been on a path of deceleration when other states like Uttar Pradesh have been witnessing accelerating growth. Annamalai shared data on the revenue generation capacity, number of startups, learning outcomes to substantiate that Tamil Nadu is treading down a dangerous path.

The BJP under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has bulldozed its way to power in Uttar Pradesh winning 255 seats and securing 41.3% vote share.

The Congress, which fought alone without aligning with Samajwadi Party, was routed to just 2 seats.

The BJP has also won the states of Goa, Manipur and Uttarakhand.

As it became clearer on who is emerging as the winner in four of the five states that went for elections, Karti Chidambaram, the Congress MP from Sivaganga tweeted asking for suggestions to watch something on Netflix.

The tweet became a talking point inviting varying responses across party lines.

Responding to Karti Chidambaram, BJP MP Tejasvi Surya came up with a candid suggestion laced with political humour.

The Bengaluru South MP suggested “Don’t look  at (UP)” along with an image of Leonardo Di Caprio saying cheers indicating the Congress’ colossal defeat in Uttar Pradesh (UP).

Don’t Look Up is an apocalyptic science fiction thriller starring Leonardo Di Caprio streaming on Netflix. It is about two astronomers attempting to warn humanity about an approaching comet that will destroy human civilization.
