The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has revealed alarming information about an extensive plot allegedly orchestrated by the banned terrorist organization, Popular Front of India (PFI). In a recent submission to a special NIA court, the agency claimed that PFI had created “hit lists” containing the names of 977 individuals in Kerala, including judges, political workers, and activists.

This disclosure was made during the hearing of a bail plea filed by two accused Muhammad Bilal and Riyasudheen, linked to the murder of RSS leader K S Sreenivasan at Melamuri Junction in Palakkad in 2022. The NIA opposed their release, citing the discovery of multiple hit lists as evidence of a far-reaching conspiracy.

Extensive Target Lists, Intelligence Collection and Militant Training

According to the NIA, one of the key figures in the plot, Sirajudheen, a member of PFI’s so-called “Reporter Wing,” was found with a list naming 240 potential targets, most of them Hindu. The agency stressed that these documents indicated a planned operation posing a serious threat to public order and safety.

Another list was found in the wallet of accused Abdul Wahab, detailing at least five individuals, including a retired district judge from Kerala. A separate search at the residence of absconding suspect Ayoob T.A. led to the seizure of yet another list containing the names of 500 people. These targets spanned various walks of life, especially individuals involved in the legal and political spheres.

The NIA identified the “Reporter Wing” as a clandestine intelligence-gathering unit within PFI, responsible for collecting personal and professional details of potential targets. The information compiled by this group was then used to assemble these hit lists.

In addition to the lists, the agency said it had found documents indicating that PFI had been conducting weapons training at a facility in Periyar Valley, Aluva. The site has now been seized under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), with investigators treating it as a base used for extremist training purposes.

In response, the accused argued that the charges were baseless and politically motivated. Their legal counsel stated that both men had been in custody for more than three years, that the investigation had concluded, and that they were willing to comply with any conditions set by the court, including full cooperation with any ongoing inquiries.

The court, however, sided with the prosecution. Special Judge P.K. Mohandas of the NIA Court rejected the bail applications, citing the serious nature of the accusations. He stated there was prima facie evidence supporting the NIA’s claims and emphasized that releasing the accused at this stage could pose a threat to public safety and obstruct the course of justice. The judge also pointed out that the final charge sheet had been filed and the matter was now ready to proceed to trial.

Congress Cozying With Islamists

Even as the NIA informed the court that the banned outfit Popular Front of India (PFI) had prepared a chilling hit list with 977 names—including judges, activists, and politicians—in Kerala, the Congress finds itself embroiled in controversy for cozying up to the PFI’s political offshoot, SDPI.

On June 21, the foundation day of the radical Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI), Congress MP Anto Antony welcomed party workers from SDPI at his office in Kerala. Led by Muhammad Rashid, the Aranmula constituency president of SDPI, the group brought laddus to mark the occasion, which were received and celebrated at the MP’s office.

The entire exchange, including the sweet distribution and interactions, was recorded and circulated widely on social media—sparking outrage and raising serious questions about Congress’s proximity to extremist-linked groups.

The incident has intensified criticism from political opponents, who accuse the Congress of pandering to communal elements for electoral gains. This follows earlier allegations during the Nilambur by-election, where the UDF was slammed for allegedly aligning with groups like Jamaat-e-Islami.

As the NIA exposes the violent underbelly of PFI’s operations, Congress’s public gestures toward SDPI have triggered a new storm: Is the party turning a blind eye to radicalism in the name of vote bank politics?

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted raids on 5 December 2024, across 16 locations in Karnataka, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu, including Chennai, as part of its investigation into the murder of BJP leader Praveen Nettaru.

In Chennai, officials apprehended Mohammed Asim (39), a resident of Doctor Radhakrishnan Nagar in Thiruvottriyur. They searched his residence and seized materials before he was taken into custody. Asim is reportedly the proprietor of TC Traders Mats & Rugs, a business based in Tondiarpet.

The operation extended to Bengaluru, Kodagu in Karnataka, Ernakulam in Kerala, and other locations. Praveen Nettaru, a BJP Yuva Morcha district executive committee member, was brutally hacked to death by two motorcycle-borne attackers in Bellare village, Dakshina Kannada district, Karnataka, on 26 July 2022. According to the NIA, members of the banned terror outfit Popular Front of India (PFI) were allegedly involved in the crime, which was intended to spread fear among specific sections of society.

The NIA began its investigation after taking over the case from local police on 4 August 2022. Searches targeted premises associated with absconding suspects, accused individuals, and their associates. The agency recovered several digital devices and incriminating documents.

The NIA has arrested 19 individuals in connection with the case and filed charge sheets against 23 accused, including four still at large. According to the NIA’s statement, non-bailable warrants and rewards have been issued for seven absconding suspects.

Significant condemnation erupted following the controversial remark of T. Velmurugan, the founder of the Tamizhaga Vazhvurimai Katchi (TVK) party and the Panruti constituency MLA, had compared the banned terror linked outfit Popular Front of India (PFI), which is listed under the UAPA (Unlawful Activities Prevention Act), to the Indian armed forces during a protest rally in Chennai on 16 November 2024. The PFI’s political wing organized the rally, the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI), which was demanding the release of Muslim prisoners and the provision of 7% reservation for Muslims in education and employment. His remarks sparked widespread outrage and demanding his arrest.

On 16 November 2024, the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) organized a protest rally in Chennai, pressing for two key demands, an increase in the Muslim reservation quota for education and employment to 7%, and the release of Muslim prisoners serving life sentences, in line with an election promise. The rally, held near Rajaratnam Stadium in Egmore, Chennai, was led by Mohammed Mubarak, the state president of the SDPI.

The event began with a welcome address from  SDPI state general secretary Nizam Mohideen, followed by the flagging off of the rally by State Secretary Ratnam. The opening speech was delivered by State General Secretary ASA Umar Farooq, Ahmed Nawavi, Abubakar Siddiqui, and Najma Begum also spoke during the event

They were joined by special invitees, including former Tamil Nadu Minister and AIADMK member D. Jayakumar, Tamizhaga Vazhvurimai Party President and MLA T. Velmurugan, May 17 Movement Coordinator Thirumurugan Gandhi, and several other political leaders.

During the rally’s public meeting, Nellie Mubarak, the SDPI’s state president, strongly advocated for the increase in the Muslim reservation quota from 3.5% to 7%, urging the Tamil Nadu government to implement this as open, rather than closed, reservation. He called for legal amendments to allow Muslim communities to compete within the backward category to achieve social justice. Mubarak also demanded that the government issue a white paper on the benefits of reservation for Muslim minorities and conduct a caste-wise census to ensure fair distribution of resources.

Addressing the issue of Muslim prisoners, Mubarak pointed out that many Muslim have been incarcerated for 10 to 28 years, with some still awaiting release despite the recommendations of Justice N Adinathan’s committee. He criticized the DMK government for delaying the release of these prisoners, despite the government’s prior promise to free them. Mubarak further highlighted that 26 Muslim inmates are only granted parole intermittently, with their release periods being reduced, causing further distress to their families.

Participating in the rally on behalf of AIaDMK Organizing Secretary D. Jayakumar criticised the DMK government for not supporting the muslims who have backed them in elections and even after the MP’s who were sent from tamil nadu have not raised any voices supporting the muslims and urged the DMK to instead of fociing solely on TASMAC liquor sale simplement the promises that they made during 2021 elections.

Speaking at the SDPI rally, Panruti MLA T. Velmurugan sparked controversy with his remarks, comparing the banned terrorist organization PFI to the Indian armed forces. He stated, “Today, many of the top officers in the police department are new, but for 14 years, we have witnessed injustice, lawlessness, and atrocities in this state. In this struggle, the SDPI party and the former Popular Front of India have stood with me like an Indian armed forces. I have participated in numerous grand marches organized by the Popular Front of India, which is a key affiliate and friendly organization of the SDPI. Alongside the Tamil Nadu Police, it is the SDPI and the Popular Front of India that act as the real force like CISF, defending law and order and dedicating their efforts, even their lives, to serving the common people. For fascist BJP, they can be seen as militant or they can be seen as a movement challenging the state. On that basis, the SDPI rally should not be viewed with the same eyes as the fascist Bharatiya Janata government”

Panruti MLA T. Velmurugan stated that he would take responsibility for the actions of the Islamic fundamentalist group ‘Popular Front of India’ (PFI) and assured that they had not harmed the public. He also remarked that officials were hesitant to grant permission for the rally, adding that such caution was, in his view, justified.

Thirumurugan Gandhi, a Dravidian sympathizer and the leader of the May 17 Movement, also spoke at the rally, condemning the DMK government. He indirectly criticized the DMK for resembling the fascist policies of the central government, claiming that the party had failed to fulfill its promises to the Muslim community. Gandhi warned that if the DMK continued to neglect these promises, they would have no choice but to protest against them.

The event concluded with calls for immediate action by the Tamil Nadu government to address these long-standing issues.

J.A. Kishore Kumar, the State General Secretary of Hindu Munnani, issued a press release on 16 August 2024, cautioning the Tamil Nadu government to address a purported terror conspiracy against Hindu Munnani chief Kadeswara Subramaniam. Kumar warned that if the state fails to tackle the rise of Islamic terrorism effectively, it could face serious repercussions.

The press release detailed an incident involving a letter received by the Bharatiya Janata Party office in Palani, Dindigul District. The letter alleged that terrorist training was being conducted in the Palani area by Syed Ali Farooq of the SDPI, who was reportedly training ten members of the banned PFI. The letter also claimed that there were plans to assassinate Kadeswara Subramaniam.

Hindu Munnani asserted that the letter confirmed this terror plot against Subramaniam. However, they criticized the police for allegedly mishandling the investigation. They claimed that the authorities had downplayed the letter’s significance, suggesting it was merely a revenge-driven falsehood, and had failed to investigate the individuals named in the letter.

The group condemned the police for covering up the incident and accused them of enabling the growth of Islamic terrorism through their inaction. They pointed out that Tamil Nadu has witnessed a significant number of terrorist activities, highlighting a pattern of police negligence that emboldens extremists.

DMK-led Tamil Nadu government was also criticized for not recognizing how Islamic fundamentalist threats are impacting industrial development in the state. Hindu Munnani emphasized the need for proper investigation and expressed concern that failure to address the issue could lead to a resurgence of terrorism.

In response, the Hindu Munnani has contacted Union Home Minister Amit Shah, urging the Central Bureau of Investigation to take over the case. They have called for increased intelligence monitoring of the SDPI and associated individuals to prevent the spread of Islamic terrorism in Tamil Nadu.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has seized the assets of Popular Front of India (PFI) member implicated in the 2016 murder of a Hindu Munnani leader in Coimbatore.

The property belonging to the accused, Subair, was confiscated under the directive of the NIA Special Court in Poonamallee, Chennai. Subair, along with other accomplices, all affiliated with the banned PFI, participated in the brutal assassination of C Sasikumar, a spokesperson for the Hindu Munnani in Coimbatore. The perpetrators—Saddam Hussain, Subair, Mubarak, and Rafiqul Hassan—ambushed Sasikumar with deadly weapons while he was returning home from his party office on his motorcycle on 22 September 2016. Sasikumar suffered severe injuries and later died from them.

The NIA took over the investigation from the Coimbatore police and discovered that the accused members of the PFI had conspired to sow terror within a specific community without any provocation or prior animosity.

During their inquiry, the NIA unearthed that Subair had transferred his property, acquired in 2012, to his mother through a gift settlement deed in 2020. This transfer occurred after the crime was committed and after the chargesheet was filed, suggesting an attempt by Subair to evade legal repercussions. In 2023, the NIA petitioned for the attachment and forfeiture of Subair’s property. The special court, recognizing the validity of the request, ordered the attachment. The trial for this case began in 2022 and is currently ongoing.

Regarding this matter, the NIA issued a press release through its official X handle on 7th June 2024, ” The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has attached the property of a Popular Front of India (PFI) member involved in the 2016 murder of a Hindu Front leader in Coimbatore. The property of accused Subair has been attached on orders of the NIA Special Court, Poonamallee, Chennai.”

“Subair, along with other co-accused, all members of the proscribed PFI, were involved in the gruesome killing of C. Sasikumar, Spokesperson, Hindu Front, Coimbatore. Sasikumar was brutally hacked with lethal weapons while he was returning home from his party office on his two-wheeler on 22nd September 2016. The accused, Saddam Hussain, Subair, Mubarak and Rafiqul Hassan, had attacked the victim in front of Chakra Vinayaka Temple, under Thudiyalur Police Station limit, Coimbatore. Sasikumar sustained grievous injuries, and later succumbed to the same. NIA took up the case from Coimbatore police and re-registered it as RC-03/2018/NIA/DLI. The agency found that the conspiracy was hatched by accused PFI members with the aim of creating terror among a particular community and without any provocation or enmity. NIA, which has already chargesheeted all five accused in the case, found during investigation that Subair had, in 2020, transferred his property, purchased in 2012, to his mother via a gift settlement deed. Since the transfer took place after the commission of the crime and post filing of the charge sheet, it was seen by NIA as an attempt to thwart legal action against Subair. In 2023, NIA filed a petition seeking attachment and forfeiture of the said property u/s 33 of UA(P) Act. The special court, seeing merit in the application, ordered the attachment.” added.

Rahul Gandhi, the scion of Congress, has once again sparked debate by admitting to certain “mistakes” made by the party and emphasizing the need for political change in the future. This statement emerged during an event held in Lucknow on 10 May 2024. However, what truly grabbed attention was the presence of Deepak Kabir, who was arrested for allegedly inciting riots during anti-CAA protests. His appearance at the event raised eyebrows, particularly since posters featuring him were displayed in Lucknow after members of the now-banned terror outfit Popular Front of India (PFI) confirmed his involvement in the riots.

During the event held in Lucknow, Rahul Gandhi characterized Prime Minister Narendra Modi as more of a monarch than a democratic leader, alleging that he acts as a front for “two-three financiers.” Addressing a query about the Constitution at the event organized by the Samruddha Bharat Foundation, Rahul emphasized the need for the Congress party to evolve its political approach in the future, acknowledging past mistakes within the party. However, he didn’t delve into specifics regarding the changes he believed were necessary. Rahul Gandhi opined, “The Congress party will also have to change its politics in the coming times. This will have to be done. I also want to say that the Congress party has also made mistakes and I am saying this while being from the Congress party.”

Later, Rahul Gandhi asserted his belief that in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the ruling BJP would be confined to fewer than 180 seats. Reiterating a prediction made in previous joint rallies with Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, Rahul confidently stated, “I can give you in writing if you want, that Narendra Modi is not going to be the PM again.” He highlighted his disinterest in political power, viewing it merely as a means to serve the public.

He argued that marginalized groups such as SC/ST, OBC, Dalits, tribals, and minority communities, which constitute around 90% of India’s population, are often denied equal opportunities. He advocated for a caste-based census, asserting that the nation cannot progress without the inclusion of these marginalized sections in various spheres of society. Accusing the Prime Minister of subverting the Constitution, Rahul remarked, “Modi ji is not a prime minister, he is a king.” He alleged that Modi operates as a proxy for a select few financiers who wield real power behind the scenes.

Later, during the Q&A session, Rahul Gandhi  reiterated his readiness to debate with anyone, including the Prime Minister, although he believed Modi would refuse. He suggested that party president Mallikarjun Kharge should also participate in such debates. In response to a question about the exclusion of the Old Pension Scheme from the party manifesto, Gandhi indicated that it could be reconsidered.

Rahul Gandhi said “I am 100 per cent ready to debate with anyone, with the prime minister. But I know the prime minister will not debate with me.”

Rahul acknowledged the difficulty of undoing the privatization of institutions initiated by the Modi administration but committed to averting the complete privatization of significant establishments.

Presence of Controversial Figure Deepak Kabir Linked to Riots Amid Anti-CAA Demonstrations

In 2019, the Uttar Pradesh police detained three officials of the Popular Front of India (PFI) after Deputy CM Dinesh Sharma accused the organization of involvement in violence during anti-CAA demonstrations. These individuals, including Wasim Ahmad, Nadeem Ali, and Ashfaq, who held positions within the UP unit of PFI, admitted to participating in the unrest in Lucknow on December 19. Subsequent inquiries led to the apprehension of others implicated in organizing protests and fueling unrest. Law enforcement confiscated “objectionable” materials, such as pamphlets covering various topics, from the detained individuals. Further investigations resulted in the arrest of Mohammad Shoaib, Deepak Kabir, Robin Verma, and others, allegedly connected to PFI leadership and engaged in mobilizing supporters via social media.

The police asserted that PFI employed a multifaceted approach to fomenting violence during demonstrations, including rallying supporters and directing certain groups to confront law enforcement and media personnel. Alleged evidence, including WhatsApp conversations and images, purportedly demonstrated PFI members’ involvement in organizing and inciting violence. The organization’s presence extended across several districts in Uttar Pradesh, with cases filed against them for distributing provocative materials like posters and banners in specific locations.

Subsequently, Deepak Kabir and 56 others were featured on billboards erected throughout the capital of Uttar Pradesh in relation to the alleged incitement of violence in Lucknow during the 2019 protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act. Initially considered absconders, Kabir was later arrested and released on bail.

Following the example of the Idukki diocese, the Kerala Catholic Youth Movement (KCYM) affiliated with the Thamarassery diocese of the Syro-Malabar Church has declared its intention to showcase “The Kerala Story” in all its branches. This film, released in 2023, sparked accusations from political circles of promoting Islamophobia.

This has revived the discussion about the movie ‘The Kerala Story’, which revolves around 4 women hailing from Kerala who were compelled to embrace Islam and become associated with the Islamic State, as highlighted in the 2017 NIA charge sheet involving Sonia Sebastian, Merin Jacob, and Nimisha Nair. This occurrence sparked significant discourse in Kerala regarding the concept of “love jihad.”

TG Mohandas, speaking on ABC Malayalam news channel, made a shocking disclosure about older cases of love jihad involving Kerala girls. These cases highlight how young women were ensnared under the pretext of love and coerced into converting to Islam. Mohandas substantiated his claims with data extracted from past reports by the Kerala High Court and special investigations conducted by the Kerala Police.

TG Mohandass begins by recounting Justice KT Sankaran’s observation from 2009 regarding the presence of coercive religious conversions disguised as acts of love in Kerala. The court urged the government to consider implementing legislation to prohibit such deceitful practices. The court emphasized that “Under the pretext of love, there cannot be any compulsive, deceptive conversion.” Justice KT Sankaran made these remarks while rejecting the anticipatory bail pleas of two individuals accused of involvement in ‘love jihad’ activities. These activities allegedly involved enticing girls from other religions to marry Muslim boys with the intent of converting them to Islam. Upon reviewing the case records of ‘love jihad’ incidents, Justice Sankaran concluded that there were clear indications of forced religious conversions taking place.

According to Justice KT Sankaran, police reports indicated a deliberate effort to convert girls from a specific religion to another, with the support of certain groups. The court emphasized that this issue should concern the public, and it is the government’s responsibility to safeguard citizens’ fundamental rights. The court urged the legislature to consider passing laws to prevent coercive religious conversions, stating that using force to spread religion is illegal and could lead to law and order issues.

Citing statistics, the court noted that in the past four years, there have been 3,000 to 4,000 instances of religious conversions following romantic relationships. Police reports indicate that groups like the National Democratic Front (NDF), PFI, and Campus Front have established bases in college campuses across various cities.

It was revealed that the strategy involved targeting highly talented girls from affluent Hindu and Christian families. While there is no nationwide evidence of ‘love jihad’, the court observed that the program allegedly began in 1996 with the support of certain Muslim organizations.

Mohandas expresses empathy even as the Manmohan Singh administration permits state governments to pass laws prohibiting religious conversion through inducement or coercion. States such as Arunachal Pradesh, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Odisha have adopted these measures. He ironically notes that it was not the Modi government but the Congress government under Manmohan Singh in 2009 that initiated this, challenging the opposition’s narrative that the BJP champions Hindu interests.

Mohandas also shared some excerpts from the case. He said, “Another report says that the enquiry by the Special Branch reveals that fundamental outfits like NDF, PFI, Campus Front has roots in college campuses in the City referred to therein (Kozhikode). Referring to Campus Front, it is stated in the report thus: “As per the available information, the plan of this organization is to trap brilliant upper caste Hindu and Christian girls from the well-do family, especially those who are studying for professional courses and employed in IT sectors.”

It is believed that Muslim organisations like Muslim Youth Forum and Muslim Women’s organisations like Thasreen Millat, Shaheen Force, Popular Front of India, National Democratic Front, and its student organizations like Campus Front are the organizations behind the so-called Love Jihad movement. There is no concrete evidence to show the financial status of the organization. But it is known that they get support and financial assistance from National Democratic Front and Popular Front of India. Some other Muslim fundamental organizations are also arranging money from some foreign countries in Gulf. But the veracity of this information has to be ascertained,” he added.

On 1st April 2024, the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI), affiliated with the banned Popular Front of India (PFI), announced its endorsement of the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) for the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections in Kerala.

Ashraf Moulavi, the state president of SDPI Kerala, declared that they have opted not to field any candidates in Kerala. Nevertheless, nationally, 18 SDPI candidates are participating in the elections. This decision aligns with the Congress-led I.N.D.I alliance at the national level. Moulavi clarified that the party’s Kerala unit has not yet determined whether to actively campaign for UDF candidates or formalize any agreement with the UDF.

In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, SDPI contested in all 20 Kerala constituencies, garnering votes ranging from 3,513 in Kottayam to 47,853 in Malappuram. However, in 2019, they contested only 10 constituencies. Moulavi highlighted a growth in both the number of branches and votes over the past decade, which he believes will bolster the alliance. He emphasized that the Congress party’s stance on issues such as implementing a caste census and defending constitutional values and secularism against challenges during BJP rule influenced their decision.

MM Hassan, the interim president of the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC), responded to SDPI’s support for the UDF by stating that he lacks prior knowledge of the move and that the party will need to deliberate on it. He stressed the importance of internal discussions before accepting support from any party.

Moulavi further clarified that neither the Congress nor the UDF in Kerala has formally reached out to SDPI. However, candidates from various parties have approached them. He reiterated that the party’s primary focus is on its growth, and decisions are being made with that objective in mind.

Kerala Police apprehended activists affiliated with the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) who had assaulted RSS workers returning home after the Vijayadashami procession in Karunagapalli, Kollam. The individuals detained have a history of criminal activities, reports The Hindu Post.

The Karunagapally police arrested three individuals in connection with the incident: Naufal (26) from Karunagapally Thazhava, Yasim (24) from Kulasekharapuram Siya Mansil, and Ajmal (23) from Thazhava. These individuals had assaulted Akshay Kumar, Madhun Lal, and Kiran from Punnamkulam, who were RSS workers returning home after the RSS procession. Akshay Kumar suffered significant injuries, including a broken arm, and was admitted to Karunagappally Taluk Hospital. Both Akshay and other witnesses provided statements to the police.

The SDPI activists were identified based on witness accounts and circumstantial evidence. After the police arrested the members of the Islamist group, it emerged that Naufal and Ajmal who had been accused in several criminal cases had evaded capture by fleeing to Goa and Karnataka. This time, the police took precautionary measures at various railway stations and bus terminals to prevent the accused from escaping to other states. Despite the accused turning off their cell phones, the Karunagappally police successfully located their hiding place and apprehended them, detaining the SDPI members in Kayamkulam, 15 km north of Karunagapally.

The situation had the potential to escalate into a significant law and order issue, prompting a cautious but swift police intervention. Investigators are also exploring the possibility of any underlying conspiracies related to the incident.

A team led by Karunagapally Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Pradeep Kumar, along with Police Inspector Biju V and Sub-Inspectors Shameer and Shajimon, was responsible for the arrests.

In a related incident earlier this month, crude bombs were thrown at the residence of an RSS worker in Thalassery, Kannur, causing damage to the property and a parked car. These incidents highlight the continued tensions between RSS and SDPI/PFI affiliates in the region.

It’s worth noting that the PFI was banned last year, and subsequent investigations have revealed the organization’s involvement in well-planned criminal activities. According to the National Investigation Agency (NIA), PFI activists received training in firearms in Karunagappally, Kollam district, Kerala. The NIA uncovered this crucial information during the interrogation of Abdul Sattar, the State General Secretary of the banned organization.

In late September 2022, Sattar was taken into custody at the Karunya Trust office in Karunagapally. He was the primary accused in an illegal hartal organized to protest the PFI ban, which led to acts of violence and arson. As a result, Sattar’s property, including a two-story house and 13 cents of land, was attached following a court order, due to the delayed recovery of damages caused by PFI terrorists.

SDPI serves as the political arm of the banned Islamist extremist group known as the Popular Front of India (PFI). SDPI has councilors in all southern states and is in alliances with the Congress and leftist groups and over the years it has used violence to make its point against it.

Already, the state law and order situation is being questioned by many people in Kerala as such attacks have increased on RSS and anyone who speaks against the government or SDPI.

Civil Police Officer (CPO) Anaz, working at Karimannoor police station in Thodupuzha, Kerala’s Idukki district, was suspended for leaking information to members of the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI). The leak was discovered when a few SDPI workers in custody were questioned by the police.

The workers had been taken into custody for attacking a Kerala government bus conductor in Mangattukavala over alleged communal posts. During the interrogation, they revealed their source of information as CPO Anaz.

A department-level inquiry found CPO Anaz guilty and he was then transferred to district headquarters. The investigation report was submitted by Thodupuzha Deputy Superintendent of Police K Sadan.

The report confirms that Anaz had revealed details of several BJP-RSS members to SDPI cadre. His phone was also checked by higher officials. Further investigation is underway in the case.

SDPI activists involved in several murders of BJP-RSS workers

SDPI is the political wing of the Popular Front of India (PFI), a notorious radical Islamic organisation. PFI and SDPI cadre have allegedly been involved in the murders of several BJP and RSS workers in Kerala. Recently, a 27-year old RSS worker was hacked to death in the Mambaram area of Kerala’s  Palakkad district. An SDPI worker had been arrested in connection with the crime.

BJP state president K Surendran alleged it was a ‘planned murder’ and blamed the failure on the part of the police and state government in occurring such incidents in the state.
