A viral video circulating on social media has falsely claimed to show former Indian Army chief General Ved Prakash Malik (Retd.) praising Pakistan and allegedly admitting that the neighbouring country possesses superior weapons and military equipment, including claims about the destruction of India’s Rafale fighter jets and S-400 air defence system. Multiple fact-checks and verification efforts have established that the video is digitally manipulated and the claims are false.

Fact-checking organisation Newschecker reported that it found no credible news coverage of General Malik making such remarks. Fact-checkers noted that if a former Army chief had indeed praised Pakistan’s military capabilities or admitted losses of Rafale jets or the S-400 system, it would have triggered widespread national and international attention.

To verify the claim, Newschecker analysed keyframes from the viral video using Google Lens, which led to an original video posted by news agency ANI on 14 December 2025. The ANI  video shows General Malik responding to a question about Operation Sindoor and the Kargil War.

In the original footage, General Malik is heard saying:
“As I said, human resources were used a lot during Operation Vijay. There was a physical fight. While during Operation Sindoor, we didn’t even cross each other’s border. Technological improvement is so immense. We now have standoff weapons; both nations have them now. So we can hit each other while being away from the border. So, there has been a great technological advancement which has been adopted by both countries…Pakistan also. But definitely, in India we have better weapons and equipment.”

Fact-checkers pointed out that the viral clip selectively edited out the portion where General Malik explicitly states that India has better weapons and equipment and instead overlaid manipulated audio to falsely portray him as praising Pakistan. There is no mention in the original video of the destruction of Rafale jets or the S-400 system.

General Malik called out the propaganda – “It is a deepfake. Pakistani ISI at work!”

This is not the first instance of such disinformation. In November 2025, Pakistani propaganda-linked social media accounts circulated a deepfake video based on an NDTV interview conducted by Shiv Aroor, making General Malik appear to make communal remarks that he never said.

Fact-check website D-Intent Data had debunked that video as well, stating in a post on X: “FACT: Pakistani propaganda accounts are circulating a digitally altered video of former Indian Army Chief Gen. V.P. Malik, falsely claiming that he endorsed an alleged RSS plan to remove 50 per cent ‘non-caste Hindus’ from the Army within the next three years.”

“These claims are entirely fake and fabricated. The video has been digitally manipulated. Gen. V.P. Malik has made no such statement in the original footage. Furthermore, narratives about the saffronisation of the Indian Army or reducing non-caste Hindu soldiers are baseless, and stem from ongoing Pakistani misinformation propaganda against India,” the fact-check organisation said.

D-Intent Data added that the intent behind such content was to circulate “digitally altered videos of former Indian Army Chief V.P. Malik with self-invented claims to push a false narrative against India.”

Security analysts note that such misinformation campaigns have intensified since Operation Sindoor, in which India carried out precision strikes on Pakistani airbases and terror infrastructure following the Pahalgam terror attack.

After making Bangladesh its playground, the ISI is now exploring Nepal and proposes to make it another front against India. There has been a sustained effort to increase the number of Pakistanis living in Nepal, and the larger plan is to convert them into assets who would in turn carry out terror strikes against India.

A report in a local vernacular newspaper, Purbokone, said that an organisation called Alhaj Shamshul Haque Foundation, also known as the Ash Foundation, laid the foundation stone for a Mosque in Nepal in the Inarawa area near Biratnagar of the Sunsari district. Called the Razzak Mosque, the foundation describes it as a religious hub for the local Muslim population.

The groundbreaking ceremony was led by Chairman of the Ash Foundation, Engineer Muhammad Nasir Uddin, on 18 July 2025. During the ceremony, he said that the Mosque would not just serve as a centre for Muslims, but also as a centre for Islamic dawn or proselytisation among the 95 per cent of Nepal’s non-Muslim population. “Razzak Mosque is expected to become a spiritual and communal centre for Muslims in Sunsari, as well as an example of inter-community cooperation and development in Nepal. The foundation is committed to supporting religious and educational infrastructure for underserved communities across South Asia,” the Ash Foundation said in a statement.

The Indian agencies suspect that the ISI is backing this initiative covertly. The initiative is also said to have the backing of some Gulf nations and Turkey. In the long run, the Mosque could not just serve as a religious centre, but also as a logistics hub for the ISI-backed terror groups. The Ash Foundation was formally launched in 2018 and registered as an NGO in Bangladesh in 2022.

Prior to this, the foundation had operated as a joint stock company. However, on 18 July, the foundation gave a public call for donations to fund the construction of the Mosque and also to expand similar projects in Nepal and other neighbouring nations. After the Sheikh Hasina regime in Bangladesh fell, the ISI has pounced on the opportunity to set up its playgrounds in countries bordering India. The Jamaat-e-Islami-backed Muhammad Yunus government has given Pakistan a free hand to operate in Bangladesh.

The ISI, which has set up several training facilities in Bangladesh, is attempting something similar in Nepal as transnational Jihadist expansion plan. Nepal is a Hindu-majority country and has never witnessed any sort of religious terrorism or radicalisation programmes. Nepal has been used as a transit point by the ISI to send terrorists into India. There have been reports that in 2023, terror outfits such as Al Qaeda have been attempting to set up training camps in Nepal.

Terror groups have also used Nepal as a sanctuary to evade scrutiny by various Intelligence agencies. However, the recent developments are worrying, and a clear attempt is being made to demographically change Nepal. Indian Intelligence agencies worry that such centres could be used to propagate extremism. Further, it could also be a strategy to disturb the majority community in Nepal. It is similar to what the ISI has been trying in the northeastern states and parts of West Bengal, an Intelligence Bureau official said.

The idea has been to infiltrate as many immigrants as possible and make sure that the majority becomes a minority. In Nepal, the ISI has been following what several terror groups have done in parts of Africa and Southeast Asia. Mosques and Islamic cultural centres have been set up, and these have operated as Intelligence gathering, radical brainwashing and recruitment units. The agencies worry that a similar project is underway in Nepal, and if not curbed at the earliest, then this could go on to become a major issue. Clearly, an attempt is being made to undermine a Hindu majority nation with a larger plan of fostering armed conflict and total unrest.

Supreme Court advocate Prashant Bhushan has long been a controversial figure in Indian public discourse. Once seen as a supporter of the Aam Aadmi Party and a fierce critic of the Congress-led UPA government particularly during the 2G and coal scam era. Bhushan later shifted roles to advising the same Congress party, raising eyebrows over his ideological consistency. Over the years, he has courted controversy not just for his legal activism, but also for his vocal stance on Kashmir, media narratives, and a soft corner for extremist elements, including Maoists.

What many might not know is that Bhushan has a history of taking positions on Kashmir that often align closely with Pakistan’s rhetoric from pushing for demilitarization to opposing infrastructure development and questioning counter-terror operations. Here’s a timeline of some of the most debated positions he has taken:

Advocating Plebiscite In Kashmir (2011)

At a press conference in Varanasi, Bhushan called for the repeal of AFSPA in Jammu and Kashmir, withdrawal of the Indian Army, and even a UN-backed plebiscite to determine if Kashmiris wanted to remain with India.

Implication? A plebiscite, as demanded by Pakistan for decades, would risk handing Kashmir to Pakistan. His remarks triggered public outrage, and he was even physically attacked at the event. Yet, this didn’t deter him from continuing with similar rhetoric.

Challenging The Chenab Railway Bridge (2013)

Bhushan filed a PIL in the Delhi High Court through the Centre for Public Interest Litigation (CPIL), demanding a review of the alignment of the Katra-Banihal rail link, which includes the Chenab Railway Bridge—a critical infrastructure project aimed at connecting Kashmir with the rest of India.
Critics argue this caused delays in a strategic project vital for regional integration and security. Was this just about “public interest,” or was there an attempt to slow development in Kashmir?

Repeating Call To Withdraw Army From J&K (2014)

Bhushan again demanded the withdrawal of Indian forces from Kashmir, suggesting that the local population be “consulted” on the need for military presence. In a region facing continuous infiltration and terrorism, can the army be removed based on public sentiment alone?

Sympathizing For Terrorist Burhan Wani (2016)

After the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani, Bhushan questioned whether it was a fake encounter. He implied that Wani was radicalized because his brother was allegedly beaten by security forces, appearing to justify his path toward terrorism. He allegedly said, “Wani’s brother was beaten by security forces, fueled radicalization in Burhan” and questioned, “What feeling would this have generated in a 15-year old boy seeing his brother being beaten up by security men?”

This drew heavy criticism, as many viewed it as undermining national security and rationalizing militancy.

Justifying Pulwama Suicide Bomber 2019

In a tweet following the Pulwama attack, where 40 CRPF personnel were martyred, Bhushan wrote that Adil Ahmad Dar became a terrorist after being beaten by troops, comparing the Kashmir situation to insurgencies in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Controversially Bhusan wrote, “Pulwama bomber Adil Ahmad Dar became terrorist after he was beaten by troops. It’s imp to understand why so many young men in Kashmir are becoming militants & willing to die. Even US forces couldn’t hold Afghanistan & Iraq after large-scale suicide attacks.”

Many found this deeply insensitive, interpreting it as rationalizing terrorism and blaming Indian forces rather than the perpetrators.

Opposing Revocation Of Article 370 (2019)

Bhushan opposed the scrapping of Article 370, calling it “unconstitutional” and claiming that it required the consent of the J&K assembly. He also criticized the Supreme Court’s judgment on the matter. This position, again, mirrored Pakistan’s objections almost word for word.

In a post he stated, “Bifurcation of J&K requires consent of the elected assembly of the State. Also any amendment thru 370 to the subjects the Union can deal with in J&K, also requires consent of the J&K assembly. Can’t be done by just President or Governor’s consent. Unconstitutional .”

Pushing For Removal Of President’s Rule In J&K (2022)

Representing the People’s Union for Civil Liberties (PUCL), Bhushan filed a petition to lift President’s Rule in J&K, arguing that elections must be held. The move was seen by critics as an attempt to politicize security decisions in a sensitive border region.

Amplifying Foreign Misinformation (2024)

In 2024, Bhushan quoted Pakistani-sympathetic analyst Christopher Clary and responded to a dubious claim about Amit Shah’s alleged involvement in the assassination of Canadian Khalistani separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, based on a controversial Washington Post article.

Bhushan tweeted, “Wow! The Canadian govt finds a link of Nijjar’s assassination with Amit Shah from intercepted communications! It should not surprise us though .” Even though Canada never confirmed such a link, Bhushan’s tweet lent credibility to an unverified, fake narrative.

The Core Question remains, why do Prashant Bhushan’s views on Kashmir consistently mirror the position of Pakistan? From opposing military presence to resisting infrastructure, to defending known terrorists and echoing foreign propaganda, Bhushan’s record reveals a pattern of detrimental to national interests. This post isn’t just about one person’s opinions—it raises deeper concerns about legal activism being used to push geopolitical narratives that may not align with India’s sovereignty and security priorities.

Congress propagandist masquerading as a journalist Rajdeep Sardesai has stirred controversy following his remarks during a heated debate on India Today, where he appeared to suggest that India should consider accepting the current Line of Control (LoC) as the permanent international border with Pakistan and formally relinquish claims over Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

Sardesai’s statements have drawn sharp criticism online, with a video clip from the debate going viral. During the discussion, he emphasized the need for a long-term resolution to the Kashmir conflict, stating, “The permanent solution is not going to come unless we discuss the real issue. We need to discuss terror with Pakistan, and at some stage, we will have to address our own issues within Jammu and Kashmir.”

In a particularly contentious moment, Sardesai posed a rhetorical question that many interpreted as undermining India’s stance on PoK, “How are we going to take back Pakistan-occupied Kashmir? We have two options. Either we agree on the present LOC as an international border which was which was put on the table which I think is a potential solution.”

He also warned against underestimating Pakistan’s nuclear capabilities, even in light of recent operations such as “Operation Sindoor,” which showcased weaknesses in Pakistan’s defense, “Are you telling me we will walk into PoK tomorrow and Pakistan will give up? Is that Gaurav suggesting? That’s where I differ with these are all very nice terms civilizational state. Let us not underestimate also Pakistan’s capacity to strike back as a nuclear power. I am saying can are we looking for permanent solutions or is the prime minister as he was today first satisfying the domestic constituency.”

His remarks have sparked a wave of backlash, with critics accusing him of echoing Pakistan’s position and questioning India’s long-standing resolve to reclaim PoK. The debate continues to fuel reactions across social media and news platforms.

In the immediate aftermath of Operation Sindoor and the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, Indian security agencies arrested six individuals, including a well-known YouTuber from Haryana, Jyoti Malhotra, on allegations of having links with Pakistan’s intelligence services. According to investigators, Malhotra had developed a close association with a staff member at the Pakistani embassy, through whom she is suspected of sharing confidential information related to India. She is currently under thorough investigation by the authorities.

Meanwhile, another prominent content creator, Madan Gowri from Tamil Nadu, who has over 8 million subscribers on YouTube, has come under scrutiny with netizens that around six years ago, Gauri posted a video featuring a conversation with Pakistani citizens, aiming to highlight cross-border sentiments. He also shared posts on his X account stating that most Pakistani citizens admire India and are against hostility. He later released a YouTube video asking Pakistani people about their views on India.

In the current climate of heightened vigilance, some social media users have alleged that Madan Gowri, like Jyoti Malhotra, has Peddled pro-Pakistan propaganda through his social media channels. These allegations have led to growing demands online for an inquiry by the National Investigation Agency (NIA).

Furthermore, Gowri has been criticized for expressing biased opinions in issues related to the partition of India, with accusations that his content may encourage regional division between South and North India. These claims have fueled calls for legal action, with social media users urging authorities to investigate the matter thoroughly and even consider his arrest if necessary.

Madan Gowri Simping For Pakistan

Upon closer examination, it appears that Madan Gowri may have used misleading, clickbait titles for some of his YouTube videos suggesting he visited Pakistan, when in reality, he had only traveled to Nepal. However, the controversy surrounding him goes beyond just misleading content.

Critics have accused him of interacting with Pakistani male and female both from Karachi and promoting a sympathetic narrative towards Pakistani citizens, portraying them as friendly and peace-loving people.

In the same video, Madan Gowri asks the woman, “Are there Hindus in Pakistan?” to which she replies with a smile, “Yes, of course. I’ve met Hindus in Pakistan, studied with them, and hung out with them. They’re there.” He then asks, “So, there are temples in Pakistan?” and she responds, “There are temples though not as common as in India, but there are temples.” Madan Gowri follows up with another question: “So there are temples, they perform pooja, and do everything normally?” The woman answers, “Yeah, I mean yeah. I would hope so.” He then asks, “Are there temples in Karachi?” and she replies, “Yes. There is.” Based on this exchange, Madan Gowri appears to conclude implicitly that Hindus are safe in Pakistan and do not face persecution.

Madan Gowri then takes on the role of a peace advocate, promoting the narrative that ordinary Pakistani citizens desire peace, and that the real issues stem from governments and political agendas on both sides. However, he appears reluctant to acknowledge that Pakistan’s long-standing support for terrorism is a major obstacle to peace. Instead, he seems deeply fixated on the idea that Pakistanis are loving and peace-seeking people, often emphasizing that he shares those same sentiments.

In the video, Madan Gowri explains that he wanted to hear the opinions of ordinary Pakistani citizens on the ongoing issues between India and Pakistan — and he says he “loved” the response he received. One Pakistani woman responds “If it is between the civilians, or is it between governments and politicians? Because, I mean, you’re an Indian and I’m a Pakistani, and I don’t really feel any hatred toward you.” Madan Gowri interjects and says, “I don’t feel any hatred toward you too.” She continues, “I don’t think that’s (hate) there. Maybe there’s a sense of competition — may be cricket — that ignites the sense of patriotism, but besides that, I don’t see any reason for us to hate each other.”

In another part of the video, Madan Gowri interviews a Pakistani man who reflects on the time before the Partition of India. The man says, “We have been the same people throughout history. I feel that, for some xyz reasons, most people are not even aware of why they are fighting, but they are fighting nonetheless. I just hope that things become okay, and we can return to how we were before. When I listen to my grandmother’s stories, she tells me how her neighbors were her friends and describes her neighborhood.” Madan Gowri intervened and asked, “Are you talking about India and Pakistan before independence?” The Pakistani replied, “Yes, before partition, everyone lived like a family. My family has visited their old neighbors, and it feels like there is no difference. It’s all in our heads; we just need to stop it.” Madan Gowri responded, “Good, I hope that day comes when Pakistanis and Indians…” but the Pakistani interjected, “We are one strong region. I believe that everyone, both geographically and as people, shares a strong sense of community, family, and togetherness. Everyone around us feels a bit scared of us.” Madan Gowri concluded, “They can’t let the two countries come together.”

This portraying has drawn sharp criticism, especially in light of Pakistan’s own admission of past support for terrorism. In a recent interview with a British news outlet, Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif acknowledged that the country had backed terrorist organizations for nearly three decades.

Madan Gowri Shares Selfie With Pakistani Cricket Fans

Adding to the controversy, another incident that drew criticism involved Madan Gowri posing for a photo with Pakistani cricket fans. In one of his older social media posts during ICC World Cup 2023, he wrote, “No hate, only love 🇮🇳❤🇵🇰 South is different bro.. #Pakistan #India.” The post was seen by many as an attempt to stir up division between North and South India while also misleadingly implying that people from South India generally support Pakistan. The post, now being widely circulated online, was deemed by several users as tone-deaf and inappropriate, especially considering the ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan.

Madan Gowri’s 12-Minute Whitewash Of Pahalgam Hindu Massacre

In his Pahalgam video titled “PAHALGAM Issue EXPLAINED | Tamil | MG Squad”, Madan Gowri manages to talk for over 12 minutes about the murder of 28 civilians—without ever once naming the Islamic terrorist ideology behind the attack.

No mention of radical Islam. No mention of the Jihadist motive—despite survivors confirming the attackers asked people’s religion before opening fire. No mention of the terror organization that was behind the attacks, or its clear Pakistan-backed objective to “cleanse” Kashmir of non-Muslims.
Not even the word “Muslim” or “Islamic” crosses his lips.

Instead, Gowri delivers a lecture on “unity” and “not dividing people”. That’s right: after an Islamist attack that explicitly targeted people based on their faith, he tells the victims not to be divided. That’s the equivalent of standing at the site of a lynching and telling the family of the dead to stay “calm and secular.”

In the aftermath of India’s precision strikes on terror hubs inside Pakistan, journalist Rana Ayyub has faced severe backlash for amplifying unverified claims from Pakistani sources, including false reports of downed Indian jets and captured soldiers.

Operation Sindoor: India’s Retaliation

The Indian Army confirmed early Wednesday (7 May 2025) that it had struck nine terror launchpads in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu & Kashmir in Operation Sindoor, a direct response to the devastating Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 civilians, mostly tourists. The military emphasized that the strikes were “focused, measured, and non-escalatory,” deliberately avoiding Pakistani military installations.

The Indian Army also posted on its official X handle, “Justice is Served. Jai Hind.”

Pakistan’s Disinformation Push, Rana Ayyub Plays Her Part

As India’s operation unfolded, Pakistani media and online propaganda networks began circulating false narratives about retaliatory strikes. Among the most prominent voices echoing these claims was ‘journalist’ Rana Ayyub, who shared a Bloomberg article titled, “India Strikes Pakistan After Kashmir Attacks. Pakistan Says It Has Shot Down Five Indian Planes, Taken Soldiers Prisoner.”

This claim, now widely debunked, was not corroborated by Pakistan’s own military, as clarified by the Pakistani Defence Minister, who publicly confirmed that no Indian aircraft were shot down and no Indian soldiers were captured.

Despite mounting evidence that the reports she amplified were false, Ayyub did not retract or delete her tweet. Experts and fact-checkers have also confirmed that videos and images circulated to support Pakistan’s narrative are outdated, including footage from sectarian clashes in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in 2024 and an old IAF jet crash in Rajasthan.

Netizen Reaction

Here are some netizen reactions debunking Ayyub.

Independent security analysts noted that Pakistan’s information operations relied heavily on misinformation in the wake of Operation Sindoor’s success. Several Pakistani social media handles pushed fabricated content, falsely claiming attacks on Srinagar Air Force base and other Indian installations—none of which occurred, according to verified reports.

The Indian Army is expected to provide a detailed briefing on Operation Sindoor later today, but has emphasized its intent was to punish terror actors, not escalate tensions between the two nuclear-armed nations.

Shamita Yadav, better known online as ‘Ranting Gola’, has once again triggered widespread outrage and legal scrutiny after her latest rants on the Pahalgam terror attack went viral — not only in India, but also across the border in Pakistan. This time, her content was amplified by a Pakistani propaganda handle, sparking calls for legal action and stronger enforcement against her inflammatory and misleading commentary.

The Trigger: Pahalgam Terror Attack And Her Distortion

The recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, where 26 Hindu pilgrims were brutally killed, shocked the entire nation. Initial survivor accounts revealed that Islamist militants separated Hindus from others by asking them to recite the Kalma or remove their pants, before targeting them — an act chillingly similar to past religious profiling by Pakistan-sponsored terrorists.

Instead of acknowledging the clear communal nature of the massacre, Ranting Gola chose to spin the incident as a political stunt by the Modi government, claiming it was being used for the Bihar elections. In a viral video, she accused the Indian media of “hiding the truth” and implied a false equivalence between Indian electoral politics and Islamist terrorism.

Shockingly, a Pakistani channel picked up her video and used it to attack the Indian government, labelling the Pahalgam terror attack a political gimmick.

Complaint Filed in Delhi: Anti-Bharat, Anti-Hindu, Pro-Pakistan

Following the viral video and its cross-border amplification, a formal police complaint has been filed against Shamita Yadav in Delhi, citing:

  • Potential pro-Pakistan propaganda
  • Insult to Hindu beliefs through her earlier video mocking the Manusmriti
  • Deliberate misinformation intended to stoke communal tensions
  • Content being weaponized by Pakistani handles

The complaint demands immediate action under sections related to national security, communal incitement, and online misinformation. Activists and legal experts alike argue that this is no longer just an issue of “opinion,” but one of national integrity and communal harmony.

Repeat Offender: History Of Misinformation And Hinduphobia

This isn’t the first time Ranting Gola has stirred up controversy through her content. Her pattern is familiar: sensational videos, fact-free rants, Hinduphobic overtones, and eventual backtracking.

Fake Waqf Amendment Video

Recently, she falsely claimed that the Waqf (Amendment) Bill would strip Indian Muslims of the right to bury their dead. To support this, she shared an unrelated eight-year-old video from 2017 — a local protest over an unrelated land issue — and framed it as proof of government oppression.

In truth, the Waqf Amendment is an administrative reform related to property management and has nothing to do with burial rights. Her video was slammed by legal experts and religious leaders alike as an attempt to stir panic among Muslims and defame the Indian government.

Scripted Trial Recording – Failed Attack On Abu Asim Azmi

In 2024, she came under fire for a video attacking Samajwadi Party MLA Abu Asim Azmi, accusing him of misgovernance in Govandi. When backlash erupted, she claimed the video was merely a “scripted trial recording” that was “leaked” by mistake — an excuse that only deepened skepticism around her motives.

History Of Hinduphobia

Her digital trail is littered with posts labeling:

  • Ram Navami processions as “provocative”
  • Hindu villages as threats to secularism
  • Hindu festivals as vehicles of majoritarianism

Critics argue that her brand of secularism is selectively applied — defending extremist Islamist rhetoric under the guise of minority rights while vilifying core Hindu practices and beliefs.

Deliberate Disinformation Or Clout Chase?

Observers have begun to question whether Yadav is simply an online provocateur or part of a more calculated disinformation campaign. Her use of emotionally manipulative language, false visuals, and politically timed releases suggests a strategy more dangerous than accidental misjudgment.
