Over the past six years, the Mewat district of Nuh in Haryana has rapidly transformed from a quiet region into a persistent hotspot for radical activities, organized violence, and brazen assaults on law and order.

This report chronicles 20 incidents that signal a clear and alarming trend: Nuh is becoming a rapidly growing epicenter for radicalism, organized violence, and attacks on the state’s authority. The patterns reveal networks engaged in anti-national activities, systematic violence against the Hindu community and law enforcement, and a socio-criminal ecosystem fostering fear and instability.

Category 1: Anti-National Activities (Espionage, Terrorism, Flag Desecration)

#1 Advocates Arrested for Pakistani Espionage (26 November 2025)

A joint team of Delhi-NIA and CIA, Tauru arrested advocate Rizwan (son of Zuber) from Kharkhari village in Nuh’s Tauru police station area on charges of spying for Pakistan’s ISI. His fellow advocate, Musharraf alias Parvez (father Dilawar, Bansi), was also detained. A laptop, documents, and degrees were seized from Rizwan’s house, and a case of sedition and espionage was registered. This marked the third such arrest in Nuh in 2025.

Haryana Police and central agencies arrested Mohammad Tarif from Kangarka village in Nuh for allegedly leaking sensitive information about Indian military activities to Pakistan. He had visited Pakistan in 2022-23 and 2023-24. Mobile forensics revealed chats, photos, and videos of military activities sent to two separate Pakistani contacts.

#4 Arman from Rajaka Arrested for Espionage (17 May 2025)

Arman, son of Jameel from Rajaka village, was arrested by Haryana Police and central agencies for sending defence-related information to Pakistan via WhatsApp, including photos from Defence Expo 2025. His mobile yielded chats, photos, and videos sent to +92 series numbers. Two phones and two SIM cards were seized.

#5 National Flag Disrespected, Palestinian Flags Waved (1 April 2025)

After Eid prayers in Ghaseda village, a protest against amendments to the Waqf Board Muslim Bill turned contentious. A youth named Sakir waved a tricolour without the Ashoka Chakra, considered an insult to the flag. Some in the crowd were also accused of holding Palestinian flags high while keeping the Indian flag low. Police registered a case based on viral videos.

Category 2: Attacks on Police Teams

His accomplice, Ikkar, was arrested after firing at police. The dumper was registered in the name of Shabbir’s elder brother, Jamshed.

Category 3: Attacks on Hindus

#10 Attack on Nalhad Mahadev Temple (31 July 2023)

During the Braj Mandal Jalabhishek Yatra, rioters pelted stones and opened fire from hillsides, trapping approximately 2,500 devotees inside Nalhad Mahadev Temple for hours. Two Home Guards (Neeraj Kumar and Gursevak), sweet-maker Shakti Saini, and Bajrang Dal member Abhishek Rajput were killed. Around 50 vehicles were torched or vandalized. Five deaths and over 70 injuries were reported.

#11 Parking Dispute Turns Communal, Properties Vandalized (12 August 2025)

A detailed on-ground investigation by The Indian Express has found that the key examples cited by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to allege widespread voter fraud in the Haryana Assembly elections do not stand up to scrutiny.

The investigation reveals that the cases presented as evidence of a “stolen” election are, in fact, large joint families sharing addresses and local voters affected by clerical errors – including the misuse of a Brazilian model’s stock photo on voter rolls.

The “66 Voters, One House” Claim

During a press conference, Gandhi pointed to House Number 150 in Hodal’s Gudhrana village, alleging 66 voters were registered in a single house belonging to a BJP official, Umesh Gudhrana.

On-Ground Finding: The property is a large, multi-generational family plot. Umesh’s uncle, Rajpal Gudhrana (60), explained that his father and three brothers settled on the 10-acre plot 80 years ago. As the family grew, individual homes were built, all retaining the original “House Number 150.”

Statement: “Four generations of our family live together… There is no question of vote theft,” Umesh Gudhrana stated. The 66 voters are all verified relatives.

The “501 Voters, One House” Claim

Gandhi also highlighted House Number 265 in the same village, claiming it had 501 registered voters but “could not be found.”

On-Ground Finding: The location is a vast residential colony. The original landowning family, the Sorouts, gradually sold plots over generations. The area now contains approximately 200 houses and three private schools.

Statement: Pawan Sorout (26) clarified, “Six generations of my family live in the vicinity along with people who bought the land.” All residents, including unrelated buyers like Shyamwati Singh (46), legally use “265” as their official address for voter registration.

The “Brazilian Voter Fraud” Claim

Gandhi’s most sensational claim was that a stock photo of a Brazilian model was used for 22 fake votes across 10 booths in Rai, Sonipat, under names like Seema, Sweety, and Saraswati.

On-Ground Finding: Reporters tracked down four of the women from the list. All are real, local residents who voted without any issue. The Brazilian model’s photo was a clerical error on the rolls, not evidence of impersonation.

Sweety, a homemaker, stated, “I did not have any issues voting this time; I used my 2012 voter card and the slip they issued.”

Darshana Joon’s daughter, Harsha (24), showed her mother’s 2019 voter ID with the correct photo, noting the roll’s image was “clearly wrong.”

Pinki from Machhraula village confirmed her Elector’s Photo Identity Card (EPIC) had a wrong photo but it was another local woman’s image, not the Brazilian model’s. She voted using a voter slip and Aadhaar card while awaiting a correction. The Booth Level Officer (BLO) pleaded ignorance of how the stock photo was inserted.

Political Context and Official Refutation

The Congress candidate from Rai, Jai Bhagwan Antil, who lost by 4,673 votes, maintained the election was won with “fake votes.” However, the Election Commission of India has previously refuted Gandhi’s broader allegations, noting that Congress’s own polling agents raised no objections during the voting process.

This ground report substantiates that the evidence presented as a “centralised voter fraud operation” points instead to routine administrative issues and the realities of large family structures in rural India, raising serious questions about the veracity of the “vote chori” narrative.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s latest claim alleging “223 identical entries” in a polling booth in Haryana during the 2024 elections has come under scrutiny, with an on-ground investigation revealing that the village in question, Dhakola in the Mulana Assembly constituency, actually voted overwhelmingly for the Congress, not the BJP.

At a recent press conference, Gandhi alleged large-scale voter ID manipulation, saying: “The Election Commission needs to tell us how many times this lady, whose name we don’t know, whose age we don’t know, but we know she occurs 223 times in two booths. In the Lok Sabha election, she was there 223 times in one booth, and then they decided to split it into two booths.”

However, electoral data and field verification tell a different story. The booth Gandhi referred to appears to be Booth No. 63 in Dhakola village, which was later split into Booths 63 and 64 for the 2024 Assembly polls. Public polling station records confirm the administrative change explaining Gandhi’s reference to “two booths.”

Congress Gains, BJP Declines

Form 20 data from both the 2019 and 2024 elections show a decisive swing toward the Congress in Dhakola. In 2019, the BJP led the booth, but by 2024, the Congress had overtaken it in both the Assembly and Lok Sabha polls.

Polling data:

  • 2019 Assembly: INC – 316 | BJP – 460
  • 2019 Lok Sabha: INC – 315 | BJP – 355
  • 2024 Assembly: INC – 602 | BJP – 275
  • 2024 Lok Sabha: INC – 610 | BJP – 218

This turnaround suggests Dhakola was not a site of “vote theft,” but rather one where the Congress made significant electoral gains.

BLO Confirms Misprint, Not Malpractice

An India Today investigation in Mulana found that the photo duplication Gandhi cited in which the face of a Brazilian model appeared against multiple voter names — stemmed from a clerical error, not manipulation.

“When I was surveying, I found the same photo had appeared three times,” a Booth Level Officer (BLO) told the channel. “I corrected those who had submitted their own photos. But for others whose originals weren’t available, the misprint stayed.”

The officer’s statement indicates a technical error during data entry rather than a coordinated attempt at voter duplication.

Larger Concerns About Voter Roll Accuracy

While Gandhi’s allegation of 223 fake voters remains unsubstantiated, the incident highlights a recurring issue — errors in India’s electoral rolls, including mismatched photos, outdated entries, and verification lapses, particularly in rural areas.

Analysts say such discrepancies, though clerical in nature, can easily be misinterpreted as evidence of fraud, eroding public trust in the electoral system.

For now, however, the numbers from Dhakola point to the opposite of what Gandhi claimed: a village that swung sharply toward the Congress, not one manipulated against it.

Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, alleged during a press conference that there was “vote chori” (vote theft) in the Haryana Assembly elections, claiming that Chief Minister Nayab Singh had hinted at manipulation ahead of the results.

Gandhi, addressing the media, cited a short clip of Nayab Singh’s press conference held on 6 October 2024 – two days before polling in which the Chief Minister said, “BJP will form the government alone… We have all the arrangements.” Gandhi claimed that Singh’s “smile” and the use of the Hindi word “vyavastha” (arrangement) were suggestive of foul play, alleging that the statement implied a premeditated plan to influence the outcome.

However, a full version of the video reviewed by fact-checkers revealed that Gandhi’s claim was misleading. The context of the Chief Minister’s remarks was entirely different from what was implied in the Congress leader’s press conference.

In the complete footage, CM Nayab Singh was responding to a reporter’s question about whether the BJP would need an alliance to form the government. He replied, “We will not need any kind of alliance. I have said from the very beginning that the BJP will form the government alone. We have all the arrangements… I am confident that the BJP will alone form the government, but if we need that (alliance), we will give it a thought; we have all the arrangements.”

The statement, when viewed in full, clearly referred to the BJP’s internal preparedness and strategy for government formation rather than any attempt to tamper with the electoral process.

Gandhi’s use of a trimmed clip to suggest electoral manipulation drew criticism online, with fact-checkers pointing out that his interpretation relied on an edited and misleading excerpt of the Chief Minister’s remarks.

A 38-year-old woman from Sirsa district succumbed to rabies on Monday, 4 August 2025, 19 days after being bitten by a stray dog while feeding it outside her home. The deceased, Varsha Rani Mehta, was attacked on the night of 17 July 2025 in Bijnuwali village while offering food to the dog.

The dog bit her on the forehead. She received three doses of the anti-rabies vaccine at the Dabwali Civil Hospital but did not receive the critical rabies immunoglobulin injection that should have been administered directly to the wound, according to doctors at AIIMS Bathinda, where she was later shifted in a critical condition. Her husband has alleged medical negligence by the Dabwali hospital.

Varsha began showing classic symptoms of rabies, including hydrophobia and anxiety, on 3 August 2025 and passed away two days later. Prior to her death, the family had also taken her to an Ayurvedic practitioner in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, after her condition worsened despite hospital treatment. The temporary relief she experienced was short-lived as the infection had advanced significantly.

Local residents said the same stray dog had bitten more than two dozen people in the area before it died. They accused authorities of inaction, citing official restrictions on capturing or culling stray animals.

Varsha Rani, wife of Jitendra Kumar alias Vijay Mehta, belonged to a family that runs a wholesale shop at the Dabwali bus stand. Her tragic death has sparked anger among villagers and renewed concerns over the rising stray dog population and inadequate rural healthcare facilities.

Jyoti Malhotra, a social media influencer and YouTuber from Haryana who is currently under investigation for allegedly spying for Pakistan, is once again making headlines. This time, a Scottish travel vlogger has released a video revealing her presence in Lahore under unusually tight security.

Callum Mill, known for his YouTube channel Callum Abroad, documented his recent travels in Pakistan and unexpectedly encountered Malhotra at Lahore’s Anarkali Bazaar. In the footage, she can be seen surrounded by approximately six armed men, prompting Mill to comment on the intense security detail.

Mill’s video interaction with Malhotra shows her identifying herself as Indian and briefly chatting about his experiences in India and Pakistan. However, it was the armed entourage accompanying her that raised the most eyebrows, especially given reports that she attended exclusive, high-profile events in Pakistan with ties to security circles.

“She’s the one with all the security guys,” Mill says in the video. “I’m not sure why so many guns are needed.”

The incident has sparked new concerns, especially given the timing—Malhotra is currently in police custody in Hisar, with her remand recently extended amid an ongoing espionage investigation.

As per reports, investigators are examining her possible links to Pakistani intelligence agencies. Her apparent access to high-security areas and personnel during her visits to Pakistan has only intensified suspicion.

Espionage Allegations Deepen

Malhotra was detained earlier this month after authorities alleged she had been in contact with a staff member from the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi. Police believe she may have shared sensitive data, including intelligence related to power outages during the period of India’s ‘Operation Sindoor’.

Forensic teams have analyzed three smartphones and a laptop seized from her, with the findings expected to be critical to the investigation. As her police custody ends today, she is scheduled to appear in court again while authorities continue to unravel the scale of her alleged involvement in espionage activities.

As the investigation into YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra’s alleged espionage for Pakistan proceeds, her fresh links with Bangladesh seem to have emerged, thereby bringing her under greater suspicion and scrutiny of the agencies.

The YouTuber has been accused of spying for Pakistan and also charged with sharing secret and strategic information with the enemy nation. She is said to be in touch with multiple Pakistani agents, including some of the operatives of ISI, Pakistan’s intelligence agency. While Haryana Police probes the alleged collusion of the YouTuber with the agents in pushing a Pakistani narrative and using her social media presence to influence gullible locals here, the officials stumbled upon a crucial piece of information, which shows that the YouTuber was planning a visit to Bangladesh soon.

It has access to Jyoti’s visa form application, which shows that the next destination on her itinerary was Bangladesh. An undated Bangladesh visa application form shows her name inscribed on the form, in which she filled up her ‘temporary address’ as the one in Uttara, Dhaka. The visa application form is, though undated, the probe team believes that her visit was intended to align and position with Bangladeshi operatives in the garb of the video shoot.

The ‘spy’ video blogger was also grilled by National Investigation Agency (NIA) and Intelligence Bureau (IB) officials on Tuesday over alleged links with Pakistani Intelligence Operatives (PIO). Officials with knowledge of the investigation disclosed that her recent foreign trips to Pakistan, China and other nations are being closely examined. Many reports said that the Haryana YouTuber remained remorseless during the interrogation and insisted that she was being targeted for her free speech.

She has been accused of sharing sensitive military information with Pakistani intelligence operatives, raising concerns about security breaches, particularly in the backdrop of ghastly Pahalgam attacks. Her proposed visit to Bangladesh, after the regime change there, raises fresh security concerns.

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said on Wednesday that the theme park located on the sacred land of ‘Dharmakshetra’—Kurukshetra—will be known as Keshav Park.

This initiative aims to preserve and promote Kurukshetra‘s cultural and spiritual heritage, a place of immense religious and historical significance in India.

The Chief Minister declared Thursday a special holiday for school students who participated in the Global Gita Path here.

He urged the students to utilise this holiday to prepare diligently for their upcoming examinations. Chief Minister Saini participated in the Global Gita Paath — Ashtadashi Shloka programme, which saw the participation of 18,000 children, during the International Gita Mahotsav here. Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan, Haryana Agriculture Minister Shyam Singh Rana, Tanzania Tourism Minister Pindi Chana, and Gita Manishi Swami Gyananand Maharaj were present.

Extending greetings on Margashirsha Shukla Ekadashi and Gita Jayanti, the Chief Minister prayed that God may illuminate the lives of residents with the light of knowledge. He highlighted that 5,162 years ago on this day, Lord Krishna proclaimed the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita. “Today, the sky has resonated with the Ashtadashi verses by 18,000 students. It is a matter of great pride that the Gita is being recited in numerous countries worldwide.” Chief Minister Saini said this recitation “holds not only religious significance but also a scientific one. The 18 verses recited today embody prayer, song, and a call for peace”.

He added that every shloka of the Bhagavad Gita offers a fresh perspective and new inspiration for living life. “Shrimad Bhagavad Gita is not merely a dialogue between Arjun and Lord Krishna but answers all of our questions. The first and most significant message of the Gita is that every individual should follow their dharma and duty in life.”

“If everyone in society fulfils their duties with loyalty and dedication, it will maintain discipline and balance within the community. This teaching encourages us to set aside selfishness and prioritise our responsibilities toward society and the nation,” the Chief Minister said. Pindi Chana, Tourism Minister of Tanzania, a partner country of the International Gita Mahotsav, said Kurukshetra is a sacred place where the Vedas and Puranas were composed.

“In mythology, it is considered one of the most revered pilgrimage sites. According to the Mahabharata, Kurukshetra is regarded as the most significant pilgrimage. This is the very land where, thousands of years ago, Lord Krishna imparted the divine knowledge of the Gita to Arjun.” Minister Chana said the International Gita Mahotsav “is not merely a religious event, but a celebration of culture, heritage, and the fundamental principles of life”. The teachings of the Gita, she said, convey that the highest purpose of human life lies in truth and that the Gita serves as a guiding light in every aspect of life, in the service of both religion and humanity.

The Haryana government on Saturday appealed to the state’s farmers to refrain from burning crop residue after harvesting paddy. Burning crop residue not only leads to air pollution but also depletes soil nutrients. Instead of burning, farmers should mix the residue into the soil using machinery. Incorporating paddy residue into the soil will enhance soil fertility and contribute to a cleaner environment as well.

Sharing information in this regard, an official spokesperson for the Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Department said that the government has started the Haryana Parali Protsahan Yojana — 2024-25 to promote crop residue management. Under the scheme, a subsidy of Rs 1,000 per acre is being provided and to apply for the scheme one has to register themselves on the Meri Fasal Mera Byora portal. Interested farmers can apply online at the departmental portal agriharyana.gov.in till November 30 to avail benefits of the scheme.

The spokesperson further stated that the scheme aims to refrain farmers from burning stubble and to provide them with financial assistance. This initiative will not only protect the environment but also encourage farmers to manage crop residue properly. This will also help to combat the air pollution caused due to stubble burning. The spokesperson further said that the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare is also conducting awareness campaigns to educate farmers about the harmful effects of burning crop residue.

Agricultural experts are providing farmers with information about government schemes. The crop residue management scheme is a significant government initiative. Under this scheme, farmers are provided with agricultural equipment such as super seeders, zero-tillage machines, straw choppers, happy seeders, reversible ploughs, etc., at subsidised rates. These tools can help farmers mix the stubble into the soil to improve soil fertility.

Ahead of taking the oath of office, Haryana Chief Minister-designate Nayab Singh Saini on Thursday offered prayers at Valmiki Temple here on the occasion of Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti and reiterated that his doors are open round the clock and common man can approach him with their issues.

“This morning, I met nearly 150 people at my residence before coming to the temple,” the Haryana CM-Designate told the media after paying obeisance at Valmiki Temple, his first public engagement. From the day he took over the reins of Haryana in March this year, a low-profile Other Backward Class (OBC) leader Saini has kept his house open for the public and he has been known as, “Saini mera banda hai” (Saini is my man, I know him).

When asked about his electioneering assertion that ‘charpais’, eco-friendly cots, would be kept at his official residence in Chandigarh for the visiting public, the Haryana CM-Designate jokingly replied, “They (‘charpais’) are already placed.” Saini was brought in March this year to counter the anti-incumbency wave against incumbent Manohar Lam Khattar for his nine-and-a-half-year helm.

In his 56 days of governance, Saini claimed to have done so much development that Congress leader Bhupinder Hooda did in 10 years as the Chief Minister. “In 56 days, I have taken 126 historic decisions for Haryana’s development,” Haryana CM-Designate Saini had said in his election campaigns. A confidant of Khattar, Saini entered politics almost 30 years ago. He was elected as an MLA from Naraingarh in the 2014 Assembly polls and inducted into the Cabinet in 2016.

Seven-time legislator Anil Vij and six-time maker Krishan Lal Panwar, a prominent Dali face, have been contacted for the oath-taking ceremony, indicating their inclusion in the Council of Ministers. Alongside them, several other prominent leaders, such as Rao Narbir, Aarti Rao, Krishan Bedi, Vipul Goel, and Ranbir Gangwa, have also been informed about their induction into the Cabinet.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and several Union Ministers, including Rajnath Singh and J. P. Nadda, the BJP national president, will attend the oath-taking ceremony here.

Besides, there will be all 20 Chief Ministers of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and their deputies, a mega political gathering in the run-up to Assembly polls in Maharashtra and Jharkhand. Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya will administer the oath of office and secrecy to Saini and his Council of Ministers, likely 10, with three slots that BJP will likely keep vacant.
