In the district of Dindigul, the residents of JJ Nagar village, near Perumal Nagar, are living in dire conditions without essential amenities such as electricity, drinking water, and toilet facilities. Approximately 50 families in this community rely on candlelight and kerosene lamps for illumination, facing daily challenges that severely impact their quality of life.

A long-time resident, a woman who has lived in JJ Nagar since birth, shared her frustration: “I have been living here since birth in the village of JJ Nagar without any basic facilities. There are only huts here. We talk about Digital India, but here, there are no basic facilities. Our school children are struggling a lot. There have been incidents of pregnant women getting aborted due to falling here. Even if we take this issue up to the collector, they are postponing the issue. We have given numerous petitions but suspect that they stopped the issue from reaching the authorities. We don’t know how they can say we have rights to vote. They come here only to ask for votes.

The lack of basic services has had severe repercussions on the residents’ health and education. Another resident recounted a tragic incident: “We have 50 families here. We have no basic facilities. No water, electricity, toilet. Our kids are studying only with candlelight. My wife was pregnant, and as we had no water facilities, she fell while carrying water and had a miscarriage. The government should focus on us and fulfill our basic requests.

The community’s isolation is compounded by the threat of wild animals, which disrupts the children’s schooling and adds to the residents’ sense of insecurity. “The cost of buying candles surpasses the cost of electricity here. We even have a scare of wild animals,” another woman noted.

Despite repeated petitions and appeals to local authorities, the residents feel their plight has been ignored. They suspect that their complaints are being suppressed before reaching higher officials, leading to growing despair and resentment within the community.

At the Dindugal bus stand, passengers awaiting a government bus destined for Pollachi found themselves bewildered as the electronic nameplate, designed to indicate the bus’s destination, displayed text in Chinese rather than Tamil.

The mishap unfolded when passengers noticed the unfamiliar characters on the electronic display, causing understandable confusion among those eagerly anticipating their journey. Instead of the expected Tamil script indicating “Pollachi,” the display appeared to be communicating in Chinese, leaving passengers uncertain about the bus’s intended destination. This unexpected display caused confusion among waiting passengers who were unsure whether the bus was bound for Pollachi or China.

Karthik Gopinath, the State Vice President of the Social Media cell of the BJP in Tamil Nadu, in his tweet,“Stalin government cannot hide their love for the Chinese I guess! Name boards in Mandarin. Kanimozhi be like – after all, China is not a declared enemy.”

It is noteworthy that in February 2024 when the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi was in Tamil Nadu to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for various projects in the region. Among the initiatives, PM Modi was laying the foundation stone for an upcoming ISRO launch complex at Kulasekarapattinam, Thoothukudi district, valued at approximately ₹986 crore. This state-of-the-art facility was designed to support 24 launches annually and encompasses 35 facilities.

The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, however, posted full-page advertisements in Tamil newspapers intimating readers of PM Modi’s arrival in the state to inaugurate the facility. However, the advertisement shows multiple foreign rockets including Chinese rockets, and not a single Indian rocket or a flag anywhere in the advertisement.

Speaking to ANI, Thoothukudi DMK MP Kanimozhi, when asked about the newspaper advertisement in the state having an image of a rocket with a Chinese flag, she said“I don’t know from where the person who did the artwork, found this picture from. I don’t think India has declared China as an enemy country. I have seen that the Prime Minister has invited the Chinese PM and they have gone to Mahabalipuram. Just because you do not want to accept the truth, you are finding reasons to divert the issue…”

A woman lodged a complaint at the Odanchathiram district police station concerning a member of the DMK party named Prabhu from Dindugal. In her complaint, she alleged that Prabhu had subjected her to sexual harassment and had sent her explicit audio and video materials.

Saroja, a resident of Kasturi Nagar in Odanchathiram, has been widowed for a decade. She has a son with a disability and a daughter in good health. Saroja is the primary provider for her family, working daily wage jobs. Recently, it has come to light that Saroja sought assistance from Prabhu, a member of the DMK who is from Gandhinagar, for her son with a disability. Unfortunately, Prabhu misused her contact information to harass her by sending unwanted messages.

Saroja explained, “I reached out to him because of his affiliation with DMK, but he abused my contact details by frequently calling me. Consequently, I blocked him. Nevertheless, he proceeded to send me indecent videos and audio messages. He also subjected me to torture through video calls, causing me to become depressed. As a result, I filed a complaint at the Odanchathiram police station and requested protection.

She further said, “The DMK member, Prabhu, also threatened me, stating that he would use his influence to harm me if I didn’t comply with his inappropriate demands. He also threatened to kill my children“.

The misuse of authority by DMK member Prabhu when responding to the plea for help from a vulnerable woman has sparked apprehensions regarding the safety of women during the DMK’s governance.

It is notable that, a commotion erupted during a Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam meeting in Chennai attended by DMK MP Kanimozhi, Tamilachi Thangapandian MP, and Virugambakkam MLA Prabhakar Raja after police attempted to detain two DMK functionaries for allegedly molesting a female police constable.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin’s son and DMK Sports Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin on Tuesday (9 May 2023) felicitated Dindigul student Nandhini, who scored 600 out of 600 marks in class 12 board exams, by gifting her a statue of anti-Hindu genocide-monger EV Ramasamy Naicker.

In Tamil Nadu, the board exams for class 10, 11 and 12 were held in April. The results of the Class 12 board exams were announced on Monday morning.

The student Nandhini from Dindigul scored 600, by scoring full marks in all six subjects.

Leaders from across parties felicitated the girl for her achievement.

Today, Chief Minister M K Stalin personally called her, family and teachers and congratulated them.  Following him, Sports Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin also called Nandhini and congratulated her.

While congratulating her, Udhayanidhi gifted a EVR Statue to the Nandhini. In a social media post, Udhayanidhi Stalin wrote ” Today we personally congratulated my younger sister Nandini who achieved a record of 600/600 marks in the 12th standard general examination. Family situation or economic status is no barrier to winning. We expressed our appreciation to the family and teachers who inspired Nandini and supported her.”

E.V. Ramasamy Naicker is a rabid anti-Hindu bigot known for his pro-British stance when the Indian Freedom Struggle was its peak. He pleaded with the British to not leave India and pledged allegiance to them asking the Madras Presidency to be ruled from London. He even went to the extent of demanding a separate Dravida Naadu and had met Mohammad Ali Jinnah regarding the same.

He had abused the world’s oldest language Tamil and also world renowned Tamil literature like Thirukkural, Silappadhikaram, etc.

In 1953, Periyar organized agitation for the desecration of Ganesha idols.  He had also claimed that Rama had married other women apart from Sita for his sexual pleasure.

EVR had also called for genocide against Tamil Brahmins saying “If one Tamilan (non-Brahmin) dies for one Tamil Brahmin, only 3 of us will die out of every hundred. Balance 84%, sorry.. 100-3 equals 97, 97-3 equals 94. 94% of us will still remain but he (Tamil Brahmin) will be completely eliminated. We will definitely go this level. We can only go step by step.”.
