The Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) public meeting in Puducherry turned tense on Sunday after IPS officer Isha Singh, the Superintendent of Police, forcefully intervened when TVK General Secretary Bussy Anand urged volunteers without passes to enter the heavily restricted venue – a move that triggered crowd surges reminiscent of the Karur stampede that killed 41 people.
The event, held at the Uppalam Helipad Ground, was Vijay’s first large public meeting since the Karur tragedy, and authorities had imposed strict limits: only 5,000 attendees were permitted, and entry required a QR-coded pass scanned at the gate.

Crowd Surges After Bussy Anand Says “Token or Not, You Can Enter”

Despite these controls, thousands began lining up hours before Vijay’s arrival. As the crowds grew restless, Bussy Anand took the microphone and told the waiting volunteers to remain calm, to stop pushing, and that even those without tokens would be allowed inside.

This announcement immediately triggered a surge. Excited volunteers and members of the public including many women pushed against the barricades, causing commotion, gate breaches, and minor injuries to police personnel attempting to maintain order.

When Bussy Anand pressed the request, IPS officer Isha Singh responded firmly, her words cutting through the chaos and immediately going viral on social media: “You are telling me, what am I doing, what are you doing? 40 people have died.”

According to eyewitnesses, her statement brought the commotion to a standstill.

Police sources said Anand’s announcement directly violated the pre-agreed safety protocol. Authorities had repeatedly instructed TVK that no exceptions could be made and that no one should rush forward under any circumstance.

The SP’s anger intensified after a woman police constable was injured in the crush. Officers described the situation as “minutes away from turning into another disaster” before the SP intervened.

Background: Restrictions After Karur Stampede

The Karur tragedy, which claimed 41 lives during a TVK event, has led to multiple denials of permission for Vijay’s political gatherings, including in Salem. Puducherry authorities also rejected a roadshow request citing narrow roads and dense population, granting permission only for a controlled public meeting.

Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), led by actor-turned-politician Vijay, is allegedly facing an internal revolt as cadres and supporters mount pressure on the leadership to remove General Secretary Bussy Anand. Once considered the organisational pillar of TVK, Anand has become the target of widespread criticism following the Karur tragedy and the party’s mishandling of the crisis.

16 days after going underground, Bussy Anand made his first public appearance on 13 October 2025 after the Supreme Court ordered a CBI investigation, but his return was met with anger rather than support. Many party supporters accused him of going into hiding during the Karur crowd crush incident as if he had nothing to do with the party, which left cadres in disarray. During his bail hearing, he had shifted the entire blame on TVK functionaries. Several cadres took to social media demanding a restructuring of the organisation and greater accountability from the leadership.

The dissent gained momentum soon after the Supreme Court granted interim relief to TVK by transferring the Karur investigation to the CBI. On the same day, photos of Bussy Anand posing with district secretaries surfaced online, triggering a backlash from cadres who felt abandoned during the party’s most difficult phase.

TVK’s ‘virtual warriors’ have expressed frustration over the leadership’s inaccessibility. Many accused Anand of surrounding himself with loyalists and sidelining competent members. Supporters alleged that Anand focused on self-promotion, citing instances of elaborate convoys and extensive publicity around his visits, while neglecting grassroots engagement and party-building.

Multiple petitions addressed to TVK Chief Vijay have since emerged online, demanding immediate changes in the organisational structure. One open letter titled “From the heart of your fans, virtual warriors, and cadres” stated that the Karur tragedy had exposed deep flaws in TVK’s internal framework. It urged Vijay to strengthen the party’s second-line leadership, train district-level leaders, and decentralise power to make the movement resilient even in the absence of its top leader.

Another letter, titled “TVK Party to Retrospect and Strengthen”, specifically called for changes to the General Secretary’s role, citing Bussy Anand’s ineffectiveness. It suggested that even if a replacement was not imminent, his responsibilities should be redistributed among capable members to ensure smoother functioning.

The discontent intensified further when photos went viral showing Karur East District Secretary Mathiazhagan and party functionary Paunraj, both arrested in connection with the Karur tragedy and later released on bail, touching Bussy Anand’s feet at the party headquarters. The images sparked outrage among cadres, prompting the hashtag campaign #KickOutBussyAnand to trend across social media platforms.

As petitions and online campaigns multiply, TVK’s leadership has remained silent, further fuelling speculation of internal division. Party insiders say the growing chorus against Anand reflects a wider crisis of confidence within the organisation, with cadres seeking greater transparency, accountability, and accessibility from the top leadership.

The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court on Friday reserved orders on anticipatory bail pleas filed by Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) functionaries N Anand alias ‘Bussy’ Anand and CTR Nirmal Kumar in connection with the Karur stampede that killed 41 people during the party’s rally on 27 September 2025.

Justice M Jothiraman heard the petitions, where the two leaders face charges under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (culpable homicide not amounting to murder, attempt to commit culpable homicide, acts endangering life or safety, and disobedience to public order) as well as the Tamil Nadu Public Property (Prevention of Damage and Loss) Act.

Senior counsel V Raghavachari, representing the petitioners, called the case a “concocted one” and argued that no intention could be attributed to them. He said the tragedy was due to police mishandling, not negligence by TVK. He maintained that the authorities had granted permission for the meeting, but the crowd was unexpectedly large. “No policeman was near the crowd… My leader comes at 6 pm, people wanted to see him. I expected police to provide protection,” he said, alleging that police lathi charge and even use of chemicals caused panic.

Justice Senthilkumar questioned both the organisers and the police over responsibility, asking, “As an event organiser, don’t you have any responsibility?” The court expressed anguish over what it described as state leniency towards Vijay and observed that he “vanished” from the spot when the incident occurred.

“I am not the event organiser. The event organiser has been arrested. If any incident takes place at a DMK rally, can the secretary be arrested? I am saying the event was orderly conducted till the police indulged in lathi charge. The entire issue is why do they rope me? The fact that I (referring to Anand) was an ex-MLA or that I am getting support should not be an intimidatory factor before any ruling party,” Raghavachari replied.

He added, “My lordship may grant me (petitioners) protection. I will be before them (police) from morning to the evening. But should I be humiliated like this by making an accused?” The State, meanwhile, asserted that the tragedy that took place because TVK’s leaders behaved irresponsibly.

“As General Secretary, he (Anand) made the request to the media and his cadre that the leader is coming, so the people should be there by 12 o’clock. Has he made a single statement in the media that people should behave responsibly? Not even a single announcement took place that the crowd should stay disciplined. What is the step taken by them? Was there any public announcement by the General Secretary or Join Secretary?” the State counsel contended.

While responding to the Court’s query on whether children and women were part of the crowd which gathered during the rally, the State’s lawyer added, “No arrangements were made for them. Not even a single water bottle was available. Police can’t give drinking water, they (TVK) have to do it. Of course, it is unfortunate incident but these people have not taken care of their own cadres, they absconded from the scene. None of these petitioners were available. Is it expected of the responsible people to do this?”

Additional Advocate General J Ravindran, opposing the pleas, said negligence and recklessness were clear. “We know it is not intentional, that is why we invoked 304 part 2. But these people didn’t care for their own cadres. They absconded while police rescued victims.” He added that TVK failed to provide water or basic amenities, and misleadingly tweeted the rally would start at noon despite permission only from 3 pm to 7 pm.

The AAG said post-mortem reports confirmed deaths were due to dehydration and asphyxia. He stressed that the investigation was at an early stage and the petitioners’ role must be examined, noting 559 police personnel had been deployed compared to 137 for a recent AIADMK rally.

The court also heard petitions for a CBI probe, protocols for rallies, and enhanced victim compensation. It declined a CBI probe, recorded the State’s assurance that no rallies will be allowed on highways until SOPs are framed, and directed the constitution of an SIT led by senior IPS officer Asra Garg.

Justice Jothiraman reserved orders on the anticipatory bail petitions of Anand and Nirmal Kumar.

Part-time politician Vijay, who launched Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) with the ambition of becoming Tamil Nadu’s Chief Minister in 2026, appears to be more committed to his film career than politics. Despite founding a political party, he remains fully occupied with the shooting of his upcoming movie Jana Nayagan. His engagement with public issues has been limited to issuing social media statements — most of which align with the ruling DMK’s stance. This has led many to question his seriousness as a leader, branding him not as a true political figure but a “part-time politician.” His detached style of functioning, primarily through online posts, has even earned him the nickname “Work From Home Politician.”

With the party being over a year old and its founder showing little real political initiative, the burden of leadership has fallen on TVK’s General Secretary, Bussy Anand. A long-time care taker and ardent fan of Vijay for over 25 years, Bussy Anand was initially seen as nervous and tense during media appearances — understandable for someone lacking prior public or political experience. However, the question remains: how long can inexperience be used as an excuse?

Unfortunately, Bussy Anand has not just struggled with public speaking — he’s become the center of multiple controversies, one after another. In a party that already feels like a sinking ship with no steady captain, the second-in-command seems to be only making matters worse, punching more holes into an already fragile vessel.

Below are some of the major controversies triggered by Bussy Anand. If things continue this way, TVK might end up collapsing entirely — leaving behind disillusioned fans who had hoped this would be different from other failed political experiments like Kamal Haasan’s.

Loose Talk, Media Fumbles, Leadership Missteps Paint TVK As A Political Circus

Media Fumble

Back on 27 October 2024, during the buildup to TVK’s first-ever party conference at Vikravandi in Villupuram district, the spotlight turned unexpectedly onto General Secretary Bussy N. Anand — and not for the right reasons. Faced with a relatively routine round of media questions, Anand looked visibly startled, almost as if the press had shown up to sabotage the event. In truth, journalists were simply doing their job — gathering details and updates for the public.

But Anand’s reaction was telling. Flustered, he started pleading with reporters not to stir up trouble, creating an unnecessary scene. In the midst of this, his driver apparently moved the car without warning, which led to Anand snapping in anger, scolding the driver in front of cameras.

While the party was under immense pressure, especially with eyes from the ruling DMK watching closely, this moment exposed a concerning lack of composure from someone holding such a key position. His impulsive frustration and nervous energy painted a picture of a leader not quite ready for prime-time politics.

When asked about the preparations, Anand gave a vague, awkward response, “As you can see, everything is progressing properly, right?” Another journalist followed up, “Is the Chief (Vijay) coming to inspect things himself?” That’s when Anand appeared to panic again, “What can I even say if you ask like that?” he replied, almost begging. He then blurted out at his driver, “Will you stop it?” and added, “Look, I’m not some big-shot who just sits in the car and commands. If you keep doing this, I can’t get anything done.”

This brief meltdown upset some of the press, with a few even stating they didn’t want to be contacted by TVK again. Anand tried to smooth things over, offering explanations about the event setup — that things like CCTV, chairs, and water bottles were being handled by a private contractor under police guidance. As reporters walked away, he awkwardly requested they not be angry.

While such slip-ups aren’t unheard of in politics, there’s a stark contrast here. Tamil Nadu BJP chief Annamalai faced similar tough questioning from the media during his political debut and the 2024 Lok Sabha campaigns. But he handled it with poise and confidence, even calling out the press when they crossed boundaries. Anand, in contrast, appeared nervous, confused, and overwhelmed — traits that don’t bode well for someone navigating Tamil Nadu’s high-stakes political arena.

What’s more worrying is that these lapses haven’t stopped. A recent protest in Chennai organized by TVK against the Waqf Amendment Bill highlighted another glaring issue: Bussy Anand had no clue why they were even protesting.

A ‘Leader’ Who Has Zero Knowledge About The Bill He’s Protesting Against

During a press interaction at the protest, a reporter questioned the rationale, “The Centre says the Waqf Amendment Bill helps Muslims and brings transparency. Can you point to which clause is harmful to Muslims?” Instead of a factual rebuttal, Anand stumbled through a vague, baffling response, “You’re asking which clause Muslims are affected by it… Muslims are being affected by that, and they know what all those clauses are. In what way it is right to claim right and ask share in their property? This is not fair. So, we ask them to withdraw the bill.”

The reply didn’t just dodge the question — it made no sense, exposing that the party’s General Secretary was not even briefed properly on the legislation being opposed. For someone at the helm of a supposedly rising political force, this lack of awareness is both embarrassing and dangerous.

Backlash Over Incoherent Press Interactions

Not just that — when Bussy Anand was sent as TVK’s official representative to the Anti-Delimitation All Party Committee meeting organized by the DMK, things took another embarrassing turn. After the meeting, during the press conference, he couldn’t even articulate what had happened inside. He struggled to read the notes in Tamil — his own language — and what little he read was barely understandable, leaving journalists confused and unimpressed. The moment quickly turned into a social media roast, with many trolling TVK for wanting to oppose Hindi imposition while its own leaders struggle to speak and read Tamil properly.

These repeated moments — from getting flustered in front of the media to fumbling through basic policy questions — raise serious doubts about Bussy Anand’s capacity to lead or represent TVK in any meaningful way. While the party claims to be a serious contender for 2026, the general secretary’s on-ground presence paints a very different picture: unprepared, unaware, and uneasy under pressure.

Balloon Story

One of the main highlights—or lowlights— in first ever general council meeting was General Secretary Bussy Anand’s speech, where he told a bizarre story about a party cadre’s obsession with retrieving a balloon featuring Vijay’s face, confiscated by the police. Instead of addressing real issues like governance, unemployment, or crime, Anand’s speech revolved around retrieving this balloon, which he claimed symbolized true loyalty. This anecdote sparked a wave of memes and trolling online, with critics pointing out how tone-deaf it seemed in a state grappling with serious problems.

While speaking at TVK’s first-ever general council meeting on 28 March 2025, Bussy Anand said, “I am truly indebted to the District Secretary, Brother Dhamu, at this moment. You must have noticed how well everything has been arranged, from banners to posters, put up on behalf of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam. I would also like to thank the executives with him for their efforts. Not only that, but he (Dhamu) had one particular concern. He said, “Brother, I let go of a balloon. Please get it back for me.” I told him, “It’s just a balloon, let it go.” But he responded, “If it were an ordinary balloon, I would have left it. But they (the police) took the balloon with my leader’s picture on it, and I want you to get it back for me.” I replied, “That’s what our lawyers are for. We can get it back whenever we want.” Yet, he insisted, “No, no! I need my leader’s balloon, get it for me immediately.” So, I would like to say that such an unwaveringly true and ardent cadre is Dhamu.”

Criticism From Within: Strategist John Arokiasamy’s Explosive Audio Leaks

Political strategist John Arokiasamy, who had been working closely with Vijay, has added fuel to the fire with leaked audio recordings that lay bare internal dissatisfaction. Arokiasamy bluntly stated that under its current leadership, TVK wouldn’t secure even 2% of the vote share in the 2026 elections. He criticized Bussy Anand for hijacking the party’s identity, pushing his own image to the forefront, and sidelining Vijay—the supposed face of the movement.

Arokiasamy compared the situation to putting Duraimurugan’s face in place of Stalin’s or Sasikala’s instead of Jayalalithaa. According to him, every party must have a clear central figure and diluting that identity is political suicide. He added that cadres now view Vijay as a figurehead, while Anand acts as the de facto leader—an arrangement that, in his words, is “a recipe for disaster.”

Vijay’s “Work-from-Home Politician” Tag

The strategist also criticized Vijay’s passive leadership style, calling him a “work-from-home politician.” According to Arokiasamy, Vijay has not been hands-on with party affairs and often allows Anand to take the reins. This lack of direct involvement has caused confusion and frustration among TVK’s base, who had hoped for a more engaged and proactive leadership after the October 2024 state-level conference.

A Second Audio Leak And Growing Paranoia

A second leaked recording surfaced shortly after, with Arokiasamy voicing deeper concerns about internal sabotage, miscommunication, and poor strategy. He warned that the inner circle is leaking plans, diluting focus on important issues like caste census and climate preparedness. He also recounted that even carefully designed strategies—like focusing on drug control—ended up backfiring, as TVK cadres were soon after implicated in narcotics-related cases.

He painted a picture of chaos within the leadership, describing Anand as a “split personality” who could be warm and helpful one moment and destructive the next. Arokiasamy further warned that continuing on this path would ruin not just TVK’s prospects but also damage Vijay’s carefully curated public image.

Cadres Cry Foul Over Favoritism and Bribery—All Roads Lead To Bussy Anand

Recently, the TVK, faced its most significant internal crisis. What began as a fan boy movement to a promising change and integrity for political entry mired in allegations of favoritism, power abuse, and pay-to-play politics—all pointed toward the party’s General Secretary, Bussy Anand.

Frustration brewed among grassroots workers, especially after controversial district-level appointments. One of the strongest voices to emerge was that of Sathya Nanthakumar, a long-standing cadre and loyal member of the Vijay Makkal Iyakkam. In an emotional video shared on social media, Sathya accused the leadership of overlooking her contributions and instead favoring individuals with personal ties to party insiders in Theni.

She claimed that Left Pandi, Prakash, and Ajitha Devendran—who were allegedly related or closely connected—played key roles in excluding her from recognition. The accusations made against her, she insisted, were completely baseless. She stated, “I was accused of having four police cases, but when I asked for proof, none was provided. I went to the police station and got a certificate confirming I had no cases. I showed it to Bussy Anand, but he didn’t even acknowledge it.”

Sathya believed she became a target after Admin Jagadeesan praised her work on social media. According to her, that simple gesture sparked envy and led to a smear campaign by rival factions within the party. “If Vijay himself were to appreciate my work one day, would that too become a reason to attack me?” she asked bitterly.

Bribery Allegations ‘Leadership Demanded It’

The crisis deepened when TVK executive Seeman Kumaresan held a press conference in Villupuram, leveling explosive allegations of bribery ‘Cash-for-posts’. According to Kumaresan, Kushi Mohan, the South Villupuram District Secretary, had demanded bribes ranging from ₹3 to ₹15 lakh for appointments to various positions within the party.

He alleged that longtime supporters and Vijay loyalists were being pushed aside in favor of newcomers—some even from rival parties like the DMK—who had paid their way in. “I’ve been a fan of Vijay since the Vishnu days in 1995. After decades of support, I was told to pay ₹4 lakh for the role of district executive. When I asked who was behind this, they said, ‘The leadership.’ I asked, ‘Do you mean Vijay?’ and they replied, ‘No.’ So who is this leadership?”

Kumaresan presented a demand draft cheque from another candidate as evidence—someone who was promised a position but was ultimately replaced. In a dramatic act of protest, party executives tore up the cheque in front of the press, calling it a symbol of betrayal and their disillusionment with the party’s inner workings.

All Cards Pointed Towards Bussy Anand

A recurring theme in both Sathya’s and Kumaresan’s accusations was the role of Bussy Anand, TVK’s General Secretary and the party’s second-in-command. Both whistleblowers claimed that Anand not only ignored their complaints but might also have been actively enabling and protecting those involved in favoritism and bribery.

Their concerns echoed previous claims made by John Arokiasamy, the party’s strategist, who had been heard in a leaked audio accusing Anand of taking control of the party’s decision-making and deliberately keeping Vijay in the dark. With growing evidence and consistent testimonies, the real question no longer seemed to be whether corruption existed within TVK—but whether Vijay had the awareness or authority to confront it.

Bussy Anand’s Overreach Reportedly Sealed TVK’s Chances For Alliance With AIADMK

In what appears to be a decisive turning point, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) found itself completely isolated on the alliance front—largely due to what sources describe as a miscalculated negotiation effort led by the party’s General Secretary, Bussy Anand.

TVK, spearheaded by actor-turned-politician Vijay, had initially shown willingness to enter coalition politics. During the party’s maiden conference, Vijay openly stated that TVK would explore alliance options for the 2026 elections, signaling ambitions to lead a coalition government. Among the potential partners, AIADMK and VCK were considered high on the list.

However, those hopes soon began to dim. The VCK, under Thirumavalavan, kept a noticeable distance. Even Vijay’s recent gesture on 14 April 2025, where he paid tribute to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar at a memorial draped in VCK flags and Thirumavalavan’s images, failed to warm the relationship. Despite the optics suggesting he sought their goodwill, VCK’s cold response made it clear that no alliance was in sight.

The final blow, however, came from the AIADMK, which, according to insiders, firmly shut the door on any future collaboration with TVK. The reason? A negotiation gone wrong—led by none other than Bussy Anand, sarcastically dubbed as the “negotiation king.

According to political sources, Anand approached the AIADMK with unrealistic demands, including over 120 seats (more than 50% of the total assembly) and even a proposal for rotational chief ministership, where Vijay would serve as CM for half the term. The AIADMK leadership, reportedly stunned by the audacity of these demands, saw it as nothing short of political overreach.

Many in the political sphere mocked the move, comparing it to a party that hasn’t even stood in an election acting like it’s ready to rule the state. Anand’s aggressive bargaining reportedly irritated the AIADMK so much that it chose to permanently walk away from alliance discussions with TVK.

In short, what could have been TVK’s entry into mainstream coalition politics ended in isolation—thanks, many believe, to Bussy Anand’s overplayed hand.

In the end, the TVK ship—launched just a year ago with grand ambitions to navigate the turbulent waters of Tamil Nadu politics—now appears to be drifting without a captain. With the winds constantly shifting and no steady hand at the helm, the party’s second-in-command behaves as though it’s a circus, steering the course with no sense of direction or responsibility. By the time the part-time politician finally arrives to take charge after wrapping up his film schedule, General Secretary Bussy Anand may have already played the final funeral tune for what could have been a promising political voyage.

The DMK’s culture of toxic, no-holds-barred rhetoric by its star campaigners has once again come to the forefront—this time well ahead of the upcoming Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly elections. While it’s not unusual to hear male campaigners from the party hurl abusive language at opposition leaders, what stood out recently was the intensely offensive tirade by Salem DMK functionary Sujatha during a public meeting in Tiruvottiyur, held to celebrate Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s birthday. Shockingly, this unfolded in the presence of North Chennai MP Kalanidhi Veerasamy, lending official weight to the event.

Sujatha’s speech was laced with abusive remarks and casteist slurs, targeting several opposition figures including TVK chief Vijay, general secretaries Aadhav Arjuna and Bussy Anand, former Tamil Nadu BJP president Annamalai, and even former Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa.

This incident only reinforces the troubling reality that neither the DMK nor its prominent campaigners seem willing to dial down the hateful and toxic rhetoric in public forums — a trend that continues to degrade the quality of political discourse in the state.

Immediately beginning her speech, DMK functionary Sujatha launched an attack on Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Vijay and one of the party’s general secretaries for campaign, Aadhav Arjuna. She openly mocked and ridiculed both leaders, questioning their stature.

She said, “If it was a general body meeting on that day, leaving all the things about what the cadres have said or what resolutions needed to be passed, instead of saying all that — this guy (Vijay) ‘Okkala Oli’ (S*ster f*cker) says, Muthuvel Karunanidhi Stalin, and 2,000 people get up and clap like Rajini said — just saying the name sends shockwaves isn’t it! But what have you actually done? This is a sacred platform but we’ve to drag you because you have talked about my leader M.K. Stalin in a singular tone!”

She then turned her fire toward Aadhav Arjuna, saying, “Another lunatic — born to a lottery ticket — Aadhav Arjuna asks, ‘Didn’t Kalaignar become Chief Minister at 42?’ Dei, will you even match the dust beneath Kalaignar’s feet? Aadhav Arjuna, born to a lottery ticket, what do you even know?”

Later, she continued her tirade, saying, “You’re the son of a runaway — yesterday in one party, today in another. You’ve lured away a woman who sells lottery tickets. With that you’re in no position to speak about my leader, the Kalaignar.”

Turning her focus back to Vijay, she asked, “I want to ask — what has Vijay done for the people of this country? So many crises have come— cyclones came, the Coroan came — What has he done? But do you know what, he won’t contest in the Parliamentary elections, will not even serve the people but straight away contest in the Legislative Assembly and become Chief Minister — and the rest of us are expected to suck on an ice stick? G*mmala (m*ther f*cker) What kind of justice is that?”

Later in her speech, she also took aim at TVK General Secretary Bussy Anand, mocking and verbally abusing him with derogatory language. She said, “And then there’s that parotta-head Bussy Anand, that ‘G*mmala’ Are you even human? He keeps shouting ‘Vijay will be the Chief Minister in 2026!’ — N*ttuva!”

Continuing her speech made a shocking and insensitive remark, blaming the late Captain Vijayakanth’s death on his wife and caretaker, Premalatha — a outrageous statement in poor taste.

After taking on the TVK and Vijay, DMK’s star campaigner, Salem Sujatha, launched attack on former BJP Tamil Nadu president K. Annamalai, using derogatory language and name-calling during the parties public meeting .

Sujatha mockingly referred to Annamalai as a “goat,” saying, That goat Annamalai better learn to behave himself. She continued her tirade, stating, “This guy—he’s mad! A lunatic born to a lunatic! Don’t mistake me, MP, my stomach is burning! He says he’ll bring down the walls of Anna Arivalayam brick by brick. ‘Omala’… you couldn’t even pluck a single strand of hair from the heads there! Son of a sinner!”  In addition to targeting Annamalai, Sujatha also ridiculed renowned choreographer Kala, mocking her profession for campaigning alongside Annamalai during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Sujatha then resorted to the usual, worn-out rhetoric by mocking Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the widely debunked claim that he had promised to deposit ₹15 lakh into every citizen’s account—a narrative that has been fact-checked and disproven numerous times.

Then she took aim at former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa, using a thinly veiled innuendo by mimicking her voice and referring her with the term “Papathi”—a casteist undertone historically used to ridicule Brahmin women. Sujatha said mockingly, “Honourable Speaker, I’m a Papathi—you cannot change (atavum mudiyathu) or destroy me.”

Work-from-home part-time politician and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Vijay, who had consistently avoided criticizing the AIADMK in hopes of forming an alliance for the 2026 Tamil Nadu state elections, now appears visibly upset with the newly reformed BJP-AIADMK alliance under the NDA banner.

What makes the situation even more intriguing is that Vijay had sent TVK’s General Secretary, Bussy Anand, to initiate alliance talks and seal a deal with the AIADMK. However, Bussy’s overambitious demands and expectations during the negotiations reportedly led the AIADMK to reject the offer and show TVK the door.

TVK was the first party in Tamil Nadu’s political landscape to signal openness to alliances, with part-time politician and party chief Vijay stating during the party’s very first conference that TVK would consider alliance talks for the upcoming 2026 elections and aimed to form a government in coalition. Vijay was reportedly eyeing major players like the AIADMK and the VCK as potential partners.

However, the VCK has repeatedly distanced itself from TVK. Even as recently as 14 April 2025, Vijay was seen paying tribute to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar at a public memorial decorated with VCK flags and images of its leader Thirumavalavan — a move that hinted he was still trying to gain their favor. Despite these efforts, the response has been cold.

Meanwhile, new information has surfaced suggesting that the AIADMK has completely shut the door on any possible alliance with TVK. Sources claim that TVK’s General Secretary, Bussy Anand — dubbed as the “negotiation king” — allegedly approached the AIADMK with sky-high demands, asking for over 120 seats (51% of the assembly seats) and reportedly even a rotational chief ministership, with Vijay serving half the term. These demands were said to be met with disbelief and ridicule in political circles. Many saw this as a classic case of overreach, with political observers mocking the move as if a newborn party that hasn’t even begun to crawl was already dreaming of sprinting. Bussy Anand’s alleged over-the-top bargaining is said to have irked the AIADMK leadership, ultimately leading them to permanently shut down talks with TVK.

Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), led by part-time politician Vijay, has been facing intense criticism on social media since yesterday following the successful completion of its first-ever general council meeting. Despite Vijay’s strong aspirations to become the next Chief Minister and position TVK as the primary opposition to the ruling DMK, the party’s conduct during the event appeared immature and unconvincing, leading to widespread mockery.

One particular incident that caught netizens’ attention was when TVK’s General Secretary, Bussy Anand, took the stage. Instead of addressing pressing political issues, criticizing the opposition, or discussing the state’s governance challenges, he narrated a “Balloon Story.” The anecdote revolved around a ardent fan and party cadre who lost a balloon to the police and sought Anand’s help to retrieve it. This unexpected and seemingly trivial speech turned into a source of amusement for social media users, who have been relentlessly mocking TVK and its key leaders for the past 24 hours.

Who are the True Cadre of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam?

According to TVK’s General Secretary, Bussy Anand, the true loyalist of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) is someone like District Secretary Dhamu. Anand recounted an incident where Dhamu was determined to retrieve a balloon featuring the face of actor-turned-part-time-politician Vijay, which had been taken by the police. Refusing to accept any other balloon, he insisted on reclaiming the same one, symbolizing unwavering dedication to the leader.

I need my leader’s balloon, get it for me immediately. So, I would like to say that such a unwaveringly true and ardent cadre is Dhamu.”

Following this, netizens began mocking the party and its leadership, criticizing the mentality of its cadres. At a time when Tamil Nadu is grappling with serious issues such as oppression, drug abuse, sexual assaults, and rising crime, TVK’s General Secretary and its supporters seemed more concerned about retrieving a balloon from the police. Bussy Anand’s remark that “this is why TVK’s legal wing exists” only added to the ridicule, with many online users heavily criticizing the party’s priorities and lack of seriousness.

Amid ongoing allegations of favoritism in the district head appointments, a woman cadre from the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), a party led by politician Vijay, has accused internal power struggles within the party. She claimed that the recent appointments of district heads were influenced by favoritism from the party’s General Secretary, Bussy Anand, while dedicated members who truly worked for the party were being overlooked without explanation.

After the recent appointment of the district head for Theni, a woman cadre, Sathya Nanthakumar, took to social media to allege, “I have been with the Vijay Makkal Iyakkam for the past seven years, continuously working in the field even after the party’s formation. You can find me, TVK Sathya Nanthakumar, on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube, where I regularly post updates time to time of my fieldwork. Recently, the Theni district executives have been claiming that I have a case against me, and that Anand Sir has also mentioned it so she need not be given any recognition in the Theni district women’s wing. If you ask me why this is happening, it’s because Theni district secretary Left Pandi and Prakash are relatives, and Ajitha Devendran is also connected to them. They are using these relationships to play politics. The women went to Anand Sir and asked, ‘Why have you given this responsibility to that girl? Give it to me; she has four cases against her.’ And with that, they are spreading the word in Theni that I have four cases.”

She alleged that even the party’s law wing, which is supposed to protect the cadres, is favoring the district heads, particularly in the North District, where Sakthi has been accusing her of having four cases against her, claiming this has been the case since 2020. Sathya stated that when she asked for proof of these accusations, they failed to provide any. In response, she obtained a self-verification certificate from the local police station confirming that she had no cases against her. However, when she brought this issue to the party’s General Secretary, Bussy Anand, there was no response.

In a video, she questioned Bussy Anand, asking, “I have proof in the form of a self-verification certificate stating that no case is registered against me. When I showed this to Anand sir, there was no response from him. I told him, ‘Everyone in the Theni district is accusing me,’ and he could have at least called to ask, ‘How can you accuse a girl who has committed no wrong?’ But he never questioned them. Why hasn’t he addressed this? If they continue to prioritize their own interests, then who are we supposed to work for tomorrow? What recognition do those who truly work get? They are insulting us. Wherever we go seeking justice, they are insulting the hard workers and claiming that hard work is wrong.”

She then alleged that the insults and accusations stemmed from a simple act of support: Admin Jagadeesan had wished her a happy birthday and praised her work. She questioned, “If Vijay were to recognize our work tomorrow, would that be a problem?” She further asked, “Who are we working for? It was always for Vijay’s face, yet now they are preventing me from working.” She recalled a recent incident during the Anna University sexual harassment case pamphlet protest organized by the TVK party, which was led by Bussy Anand. Sathya was instructed not to distribute any pamphlet letters, leaving her feeling broken and unable to give her full effort. She alleged, “They specifically said that Anand sir mentioned Sathya’s name and told not to distribute Thalapathy’s letter.”

She concluded by accusing, “They are not recognizing any hard workers here but are giving preference to their relatives and community members.

Just a few days ago, an audio of actor-turned-politician Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK)’s political strategist John Arokiasamy, was leaked on social media. In the clip, Arokiasamy critiques TVK’s leadership and structure, accusing General Secretary Bussy Anand of overshadowing Vijay and projecting himself as the party’s face, diluting Vijay’s cult appeal. He warns that such missteps could result in TVK failing to secure even 2% of the vote in the 2026 elections.

Arokiasamy expressed frustration over the party’s inability to mobilize its fan base effectively and criticized Vijay’s perceived lack of proactive engagement, labeling him a “work-from-home politician.” Drawing comparisons to other political parties, he emphasized the importance of a strong, central figure as the face of a party and cautioned against weakening Vijay’s image. He also questioned TVK’s ability to form alliances or gain significant traction under its current strategy, highlighting internal discontent and strategic mismanagement.

A second audio was leaked recently and Arokiasamy is once again found critiquing the leaders of the TVK.

He says,’16, ’19, ’21, Now ’24. The last time he took the weapon – Madam. He tried it with Madam also. She refused to enter. I don’t know. If he sends me, I am not connected to it. Be careful with intel. They will use you and finish you when needed. You must be thinking that he will do everything for us. Be very, very careful. What is important to you? You wanted to become Pondy CM and come here and do this and that. Even that will not be in hand. That is the truth. Whatever the reason, do not trust him and do not do anything to Sir or the party. Else you will regret it in the future. For now, it seems fine, that everyone is doing everything for you. But they will sting you when the time comes. He looks at him like a henchman. With what courage is he saying? He is saying finish the work on time, if not tell me I will talk to sir. As if we are stopping the work from happening/keeping it pending. He’s a split personality, sir, if you see him, he’ll be like this once, he’ll be like something else sometimes, you won’t be able to understand him, once he’ll pretend as if he is very interested and working for your interest. Then suddenly he will destroy this for his own interest. Dual personality. Don’t know what he is caught in. Pandi Saravanan, his assistant said it. He says he is a teetotaler and has no vices. But your leader, he indulges in everything, he said. About 6 months ago. We share these videos, right, he asked if all that will be tracked. When I asked why, he said he asked just out of curiosity. I am alerting him also. GS is in the team, he is the same brand as sir, and he is with sir. Don’t damage the ones who are there, don’t touch them, wherever they go, no matter what strategy I tell him it will get passed on to sir, there is news that goes there. This is the problem. How do I tell him? None of us can tell him. Caste census is gone. I also discussed the strategy for the conference, we discussed that he must concentrate on (inaudible/cut) issue primarily. But two days later we hear the news that a TVK cadre is arrested in a ganja case. I insisted that we take up the issue of drugs seriously and it happened as if they turned it against us entirely. Only we 3 are talking, sir won’t tell Uday or anyone else, how did it get leaked? Another thing is, climate is the biggest problem now. It is devastating during rains. A few days ago, a special team went to Japan to study disaster management. Do you think they will take so much interest? The team comprised of IAS officers. So you are leaking all our strategies. How can you wage a war?”

The post “TVK Won’t Get Even 2% Votes, Bussy Anand Overshadowing Vijay”: TVK Vijay’s Political Strategist John Arokiasamy Allegedly Says In Leaked Audio appeared first on The Commune.

A viral video has surfaced, allegedly featuring political strategist John Arokiasamy, who currently works as the brand strategist for actor-turned-politician Vijay. In the video, Arokiasamy criticizes the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) party, claiming it won’t secure even 2% of the vote share in the 2026 elections. He expressed frustration over the party’s failure to fully leverage its fan base and criticized the party’s General Secretary, Bussy Anand, for overshadowing Vijay and attempting to project his own image as the face of the party.

This leaked audio has quickly spread across social media platforms, drawing significant attention. Arokiasamy, known for his work in brand-building, was previously involved with Anbumani Ramadoss in 2016 under the “Maatram Munnetram Anbumani” campaign, which helped the PMK secure the third-largest vote share in Tamil Nadu despite the dominance of major Dravidian parties like those led by Karunanidhi and Jayalalitha.

Within TVK, there is increasing discontent among party members. Many had hoped that the party, following its first state-level conference in October 2024, would gain momentum. Vijay had instructed his cadres to work earlier than any other party in Tamil Nadu to achieve the goal of coming to power by 2026. However, these aspirations have yet to translate into meaningful action, with the party leadership seemingly offering only cinematic-style rhetoric rather than concrete steps. Critics accuse Vijay of acting like a “work-from-home” politician, issuing statements but failing to address key issues or take proactive measures in the race for the 2026 assembly elections.

As TVK’s structure becomes more centralized under three key commands, the party’s hardcore supporters, initially enthusiastic, have expressed growing frustration. Arokiasamy’s sharp criticism of the current direction of the party, warning that it could end up with less than 2% of the vote share in 2026, has shaken the cadres. The audio has now gone viral, raising questions about the party’s future.

In the leaked audio, political strategist John Arokiasamy is heard expressing strong concerns about the direction of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) party. He says, “Tomorrow, if someone hijacks him like BJP or DMK, that’s it, you’re finished. I feel it is better to address him directly (Bussy Anand) rather than telling him (Vijay) because telling him he won’t understand the depth of the situation… and moreover, he won’t speak up. Making him understand—’Look, he (Vijay) is the face; you need to correct the dominance of cadres and tell them it’s wrong. Without his (Bussy Anand) approval, how will it happen? How can anything happen without his approval, sir? We can’t even mark a dot without his approval.”

Arokiasamy continues, criticizing the current structure of the party, which he says originated from Vijay’s fan clubs. He explains that the structure is “his property,” referring to Bussy Anand, but the face of the party is meant to be Vijay’s. However, according to Arokiasamy, Bussy Anand is dominating even the party’s face, positioning his own image as larger than Vijay’s in promotional materials. He said, “The outfit is like that as it comes from the fan clubs. It is like the structure is his property, the face is him (Vijay). However, he (Bussy Anand) is dominating even the face. By dominating, I mean he’s overpowering the situation, putting his own face larger among the group of ten photos. This is wrong.”

He argues that this is problematic, saying, “What would happen to the party if we put Duraimurugan’s face instead of Stalin’s? Would it survive? What if, instead of Jayalalitha, we build Sasikala (as the face)? In every political party, the chief ministerial candidate is the face of the party. But here, he (Bussy Anand) is standing in the center, and Sir (Vijay) is standing next to him.”

John Arokiasamy expressing his frustration, stating, “When I’m trying to position him (Vijay) alongside leaders like MGR, Jayalalithaa, Karunanidhi, and Annadurai, these clowns interfere. This is wrong, sir, very wrong. If this continues, it won’t even secure 2%. The CM face positioning should not be diluted. You can guide cadres and function them, by making the leader the central figure, and being his shadow. But you should occupy the reality with shadows. Diluting a cult like this is unimaginable in any party. Leave DMK and ADMK. even the letterhead parties won’t do this.”

He then goes on to question the logic behind weakening the leader’s image, saying, “Who are the votes for? It’s for Jayalalithaa, Karunanidhi, Anna, Stalin, Udhayanidhi. The central force and central face should be neutral. Why is Edappadi losing momentum? Edappadi’s central face won’t work. Even OPS, Sasikala, Anbumani, or Thirumavalavan won’t work. A central figure with universal appeal, a caste-neutral, is needed. He (Vijay) is not an ordinary person, but he is a cult figure, and diluting that image is pure madness. Who are you, and what have you done in this state? Why do people sacrifice goats for you, donate blood for you?  What the cadres thinks is, ‘The leader is just a figurehead, a dummy and just a face. He (Bussy Anand) is everything.” This won’t work, simply waste.”

Arokiasamy further criticizes the party’s current approach, pointing out that, “At least Kamal Haasan, by his own despite a clear ideology, managed to get 4% of the vote. But this (TVK) won’t even get 2%. My goal is a 30% seat conversion to secure power. But now, who will come forward to form an alliance?”

John Arokiasamy criticized TVK chief Vijay, as a bad mouth claiming that whatever he says to Vijay ends up being relayed to Bussy Anand during late-night discussions about the party’s affairs. Due to this, Arokiasamy chose to address Bussy Anand directly instead of speaking to Vijay.
