In an evolving scenario in Tamil Nadu, members of the ASMD New Anglican Synod members have stepped forward to endorse the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. This development appears to pose a significant challenge to the ruling DMK government, given that its voter base predominantly consists of minority communities, including Christians and Muslims in Tamil Nadu. As the elections draw near, the increasing support for the BJP becomes evident through various demonstrations conducted by the party across Tamil Nadu, highlighting its developmental initiatives through the “En Makkal En Makkal Padayatra.”

During a recent press conference held in Chennai, ASMD New Anglican Synod General Secretary Daniel Chakravarthy expressed strong dissatisfaction with the ruling government. Accusing the DMK, which gained power with Christian votes, of neglecting and mistreating the community, he likened their approach to that of a stepmother. As a result, they have decided to throw their support behind the BJP, citing the party’s impartial treatment of Christians. Chakravarthy further asserted that the Dravidan movement had betrayed the Christian community, stating that their trust cannot be extended any longer. He emphasized that this support for the BJP would extend not only to the Lok Sabha but also to the upcoming 2026 state legislative assemblies.

Daniel Chakravarthy said, “Christians will no longer be disillusioned by the Dravidian movements, nor will they support them. As mentioned earlier, instead of falling at the feet of the witness, we can fall at the feet of enemies, we will hug the BJP, and become a friend, won’t he? Will he oppose us? Beat us? Kick us? Will the regressive forces speak ill of us? Why don’t we get along with them? That’s what we have decided.”

“In the upcoming parliamentary elections, we will support a wonderful Prime Minister for good governance, corruption-free governance, administrative skills, the one who gave a good name for our India abroad, became a big superpower in space, landed a rocket on the moon, he’s done so many things, he even gave 6000 rupees to the farmers, so we are supporting him. If they do a mistake tomorrow, we will throw them too. Yes, by voting for Dravidian parties again and again, they loot our money and hide it in the coffins. Here the poor man is dying for food, youth are asking where did the money came from? Today, media is ensuring news is spread within seconds. There is no more deception, the illusion of Dravidian movements is gone, the predatory atmosphere of Dravidian movements is over. It will come as a very big result in this election, there will be change. During the election times I inquire in many places, 50% people are in support for lotus (BJP), that’s the truth, everyone has realised this about life and politics,” he added.

“Taking this as the main evidence, we all stand united by the slogan, the principles and by the practices of Archbishop Jayasingh and support the Bharatiya Janata Party and hold hands of Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi, former police officer and Tamil Nadu BJP leader Annamalai IPS has the support of Christian people,” he stated.

Tamil Nadu Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief K Annamalai on Saturday (20 May 2023) took a jibe at the newly formed Congress government in Karnataka saying that the Nobel Peace Prize should be given to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM DK Shivakumar if the duo doesn’t fight by 2024. He also predicted the “collapse” of the state government within a year.

Annamalai said, “The way that constitution of India is designed, the council of ministers with the boss as Chief Minister, the Chief Minister and the council of ministers are accountable to the honorable Governor that’s how the current constitutional governance in India is. In Karnataka what we read in Newspaper is, one Chief Minister will rule for two and half years, another chief minister will rule for two and half years. Till then one guy will get Deputy Chief Minister Post, one Chief Minister will get ten ministers, another chief ministers will get ten ministers, the AICC will get 10 ministers, totally 30. Have you seen this kind of structure anywhere in the world? There has to be one accountability of the Chief Minister, but here there is three accountabilities.”

K Annamalai said, “I see Karnataka government collapsing like a pack of cards a year from now. If DK Shivakumar and Siddharamaih don’t fight by 2024, then the Nobel Peace Prize should be given to both of them, because the structure of the government is itself faulty.” He said, “Both leaders will be CM for 2.5 years. Siddharamaih, Shivakumar, and AICC have 10 ministers each. What kind of structure is this?”

He also questioned that when there is no unity between the congress, then where is the opposition unity?

He further said that this is only putting mirror to the country that how opportunistic these leaders have become.

“And I see no opposition unity continuing beyond the swearing-in ceremony.”, Annamalai said
