Tamil Nadu Bharatiya Janata Party President K Annamalai recently stated that he would contemplate stepping down as president if Kanimozhi were to join the BJP. This verbal exchange between DMK MP Kanimozhi and TN BJP chief has been going on for a few days after the 2024 Lok Sabha election results were declared, with both criticizing each other.

Kanimozhi, in response to Annamalai’s assertion about potentially resigning if she joined the BJP, emphasized the clear ideological stance expressed by voters in the elections, signaling their rejection of Modi’s administration and divisive politics. She suggested that leaders should take moral responsibility in light of this mandate. Referring to BJP’s performance in Tamil Nadu, she highlighted a decline in its votes despite significant campaigning efforts, questioning the efficacy of its strategies.

Addressing Annamalai’s remarks questioning her qualifications and lineage, Kanimozhi reiterated her commitment to the DMK movement, dismissing any intention of joining the BJP to further its growth. She emphasized her electoral mandate as a reflection of her qualifications as a representative chosen by the people. In response, Annamalai defended his position, emphasizing his father’s occupation as a farmer and distancing himself from political lineage. He reiterated his stance regarding his potential resignation if Kanimozhi were to join the BJP.

During the recent press conference, when asked about the portrayal of Annamalai in a video depicting him as a goat being beheaded, Kanimozhi responded calmly, “No, I didn’t see the video, he is the one who often talks about shepherding and goats. For those who post those video memes, he is reminding them by talking about it every day. But there is no need to insult anyone, no need to hurt anyone’s feelings.”

Once more, another reporter persisted with the same topic, citing Annamalai’s remark challenging DMK to try attacking him instead of beheading an innocent goat. She responded, “Well, if we behead a goat, we can make Biryani and kuzhambu (curry) out of it, what is the use of cutting off a human?”

VK Sasikala, the former interim general secretary of the AIADMK, issued a statement on 5 June 2024, urging ‘party (AIADMK) members to unite’. This appeal came in response to JCD Prabhakar’s plea for unity among supporters of AIADMK stalwarts MG Ramachandran and Jayalalithaa, made by the former Villivakkam MLA and a key aide of former AIADMK coordinator O Panneerselvam.

In her statement, Sasikala expressed concern over the consecutive electoral setbacks the organization (AIADMK) faced in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections, emphasizing the need for collective effort rather than individual endeavours. She highlighted the party’s critical juncture, urging a choice between continued defeats or a return to success.

Reflecting on her efforts to protect the AIADMK before her imprisonment in 2017 due to a disproportionate assets case, Sasikala lamented the subsequent loss of power and disunity within the party. Stressing the importance of the party’s supporters and the state’s people, she urged genuine stakeholders to step up to prevent the party’s demise and foster the state’s progress. Sasikala articulated a vision for reviving the “Amma reign” by 2026, expressing regret over the party’s failure to secure deposits in seven constituencies.

Sasikala, hitting out at the DMK, stated, “This can be seen as an example of (proverb) “If a town is divided, dancers will celebrate” DMK is taking advantage of the divisions in our organisation and winning it cold. I have been patient all this time with the sole thought that this movement should never fail.

Slamming the party’s general secretary, Edappadi K Palanisami, she wrote, “I made great efforts to unify the party. The destruction of the movement can no longer amuse me because of the personal preferences and hatred of a few. Losing its recognition as India’s third-largest party, it has come fourth in a few seats in today’s parliamentary elections. Being relegated to the third place is very painful. Also, it is a huge pain that the movement has never seen deposit amount in 7 places. This is why the two great leaders worked tirelessly for the progress of this movement till their last breath. This is a huge betrayal to them. I cannot bear this.”

“What led to this predicament? The movement has encountered an unprecedented string of defeats. There’s no advantage in pursuing separate paths. Each individual must contemplate their own role in achieving success. Otherwise, it’s crucial to heed others’ advice and rectify mistakes. Dwelling on losses and shedding tears serves no purpose. Should a movement initiated by a revolutionary leader and nurtured by a revolutionary figure continue to falter, or should it strive for success? The time has come to decide. Everyone must acknowledge this reality and rally to unite the party. I urge everyone to remember the words of our revolutionary leader, Amma, who proclaimed, “This movement will continue to serve the people for generations.”

“If I maintain patience, it’s out of loyalty to our Puratchi Thalaivi. Betraying the millions of dedicated volunteers who have devoted their lives to this movement and the people of Tamil Nadu would be a grave injustice. Thus, this movement must stand united. All faction leaders must set aside personal preferences and prioritize the welfare of the people of Tamil Nadu and the devoted volunteers of this movement. Embrace everyone equally, upholding the principles established by our revered leader, regardless of caste or religion, in line with our revolutionary leader’s ethos. My aim is unity. The party and the people of Tamil Nadu are my family. Unlike our revolutionary leader mother, I lack a personal family. I harbour no personal biases. I want to emphasize that every decision I’ve made since the passing of my mentor and guide in politics, our revolutionary leader mother, has been for the betterment of the party and the people of Tamil Nadu. Who is to blame? Ponder this: if everyone had united and faced the parliamentary elections as a formidable force, the DMK alliance, currently revelling in victory, would have faced a crushing defeat.”

“During the critical period of 2017, when I was unjustly imprisoned due to political machinations, my sole concern was preserving Amma’s legacy, which meant safeguarding the party. However, what ensued? The party’s rule failed to return in Tamil Nadu. The party itself suffered. Our revolutionary leader always emphasized that this party is for the underprivileged and, thus, it is crucial. She constantly reminded me of the significance of our volunteers. For me, the millions of volunteers who believe in this party and the people of Tamil Nadu hold the utmost importance. Recognizing this, this party mustn’t perish. All those genuinely interested in advancing the welfare of the people of Tamil Nadu should come forward. A bright future awaits. Our goal is to reinstate Amma’s governance in Tamil Nadu, and no force can hinder the party from winning the 2026 Tamil Nadu assembly elections. We must commence our efforts immediately. Everyone must join hands and work in unity for the betterment of the party and the people of Tamil Nadu. I warmly invite you all to the “Jayalalitha House”.

Let’s unite under the Kazhagam banner. Let’s unite to advance our movement and better the lives of our devoted volunteers and the people of Tamil Nadu. Club volunteers, don’t be disheartened. If we stand united, no one can defeat us. The future belongs to us. To fulfil the dreams of our two great leaders, all the hardships we face today will pave the way for a brighter tomorrow if we stay steadfast on the right path,” the press release concluded.

Nilgiris DMK MP A Raja stirred controversy once again by posting needless content on his social media handle. This time he took to criticizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s inability to secure an absolute majority in the Lok Sabha elections. Raja’s statement, ‘A begging bowl in the hands of God’s child,’ has ignited an intense backlash against him, as netizens are delivering pointed retorts in his comment section, cleverly incorporating his own words into their trolling responses.

The BJP government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, secured a clear majority in 2014 and reaffirmed its dominance in 2019. However, in the 2024 elections, although failing to attain a complete majority, the BJP is set to govern for the third consecutive term, which is historic feet since 1969. Despite minor setbacks in certain states, the BJP has emerged victorious, notably winning the assembly in Odisha and securing the majority of Delhi’s Lok Sabha seats. Overall, the BJP claimed 240 seats, with allied parties such as the Telugu Desam Party, Janata Dal (United), Shiv Sena, and Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) collectively supporting, leading to the NDA’s meeting with the president to form a government. Additionally, smaller parties within the BJP alliance have also secured seats. With a total of over 290 seats won by the BJP alliance, there is no issue regarding the majority.

Earlier, in an interview with a private media outlet, Prime Minister Modi expressed a personal sense of calling, stating that he believes God has tasked him with a significant purpose beyond his biological existence. Opposition parties have seized upon this statement, teasing and criticizing Modi as “God’s child.”

In this backdrop after the results DMK MP A Raja in his official X handle stated, “A begging bowl in the hands of God’s child! Akshaya Patra (inexhaustible vessel) is with Andhra and Bihar; Forget about God, remember the man! Periyar is alive!!” This tweet has elicited a strong response from the BJP and netizens.

Even though the BJP secured 240 seats on its own, the I.N.D.I alliance, with a total of only 232 seats, oddly celebrates this as a victory, much to the mockery of netizens. One netizen questioned, “The one who goes to the cabinet is quiet… Why are you shouting, when you are going to the canteen?” Another netizen remarked, “Despite guarding the ‘Ilavu,’ there’s no position, no power; now, a swarm of beggars has no hope of leapfrogging from 2G to 5G loot. No chance, Raja, no chance. They’ve simply dispatched you for eating samosas, bondas, tea, and rubbing seats.”

Another netizen sarcastically quipped, “Already they’ve begun to wash the legs to grasp power. This time, just cry again about the absence of beef biriyani in the canteen; they’ll swiftly transfer you to Tihar, where only aluminum pots await.” Yet another queried, “Have you forgotten Karunanidhi, who also carried the Akshaya Patra with the PMK and Congress support?” To which another netizen jabbed, “Says the one whose sole activity for a decade has been snacking on bondas in the canteen, destined to continue for another five years. Periyar lives in hair!”

Additionally, netizens shared videos showcasing DMK ministers and MPs visiting various temples to perform rituals during the elections, asking whether he is mentioning them.

One observer highlighted A Raja’s stance before the elections, where he initially declared, “We won’t accept Lord Ram,” but later adjusted his position, stating that his wife was a fervent worshipper of Lord Ram during the election campaign.

On 5 June 2024, the Tamil Nadu BJP president K Annamalai held a press conference following the announcement of the 2024 Lok Sabha election results. He addressed reporters with the same determined tone as before, revitalizing the party cadres who significantly increased the party’s vote percentage to double digits. During the press meet Annamalai commended the Naam Tamilar party for its integrity in the political arena, noting that it did not resort to financial incentives or alliance.

In the recent Lok Sabha election, the DMK alliance emerged victorious in all 39 constituencies in Tamil Nadu. However, BJP candidates managed to surpass AIADMK in several constituencies, securing the second position. The Naam Tamilar Party also made significant strides, earning state party status for the first time by securing 8.2 percent of the votes. The BJP’s vote share in Tamil Nadu has risen to 14 percent, bringing the combined vote percentage of the Naam Tamilar Party and BJP to approximately 22 percent. Prior to elections, there were a few verbal exchanges between the leaders of the BJP and the Naam Tamilar Party, which Annamalai addressed.

In a conversation with reporters in Chennai, Annamalai pointed out a 6 percent difference in the votes received by the DMK in 2019 and 2024, attributing this increase to the BJP. He also expressed his admiration for the Tamilar party. Despite ideological and political disagreements, the Tamilar party demonstrated honesty in their approach. They fielded candidates in all 40 constituencies and participated in the elections without a basic structure. Without any alliances, they managed to secure votes under a new symbol.

Annamalai stated, “I appreciate Naam Tamilar party at this time, because even though we and them had tough arguments on the basis of political ideology, they have stood honestly in the field and have not bribed voters with money, I’m appreciating it.” Annamalai emphasized the need to communicate a message through the Naam Tamilar party, stating that Tamils have begun to move away from Dravidian politics. Annamalai continued, “Naam Tamilar Party has stood in Tamil Nadu elections without a basic structure by bringing candidates everywhere, so I don’t want to blame someone for the sake of blaming. That too they have stood alone without alliance, they have stood in a new symbol, they have stood in a new symbol before the election. So, as far as Naam Tamilars are concerned, they are also telling a message in Tamil Nadu that the people of Tamil Nadu have started to come out of Dravidian politics.”

Moreover, Annamalai acknowledged the challenges they faced on the field and their efforts to propagate their ideology among the people. He urged not to draw comparisons between him and Seeman. While the BJP secured more votes, Annamalai stated that he would not question whether the Tamilar Party would dissolve. He appreciated Seaman for his political honesty and his commitment to his path.

The National Democratic Alliance (NDA), led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), aimed to secure 25% of the votes in Tamil Nadu. Despite not reaching this goal and not having the backing of the major Dravidian parties, the alliance still managed to obtain a significant 18.27% of the vote share. The NDA’s most notable performance was in Southern Tamil Nadu, where it achieved an average vote share of approximately 22.27%. In the wake of these results, the BJP has risen to become the third largest party in Tamil Nadu, following the DMK and AIADMK, which have vote shares of 26.57% and 20.48% respectively. The Congress, despite its alliance with the DMK, secured a vote share less than that of the BJP, at 10.80%.

According to Election Commission of India (ECI), If a candidate fails to secure at least one-sixth of the votes in a Lok Sabha election, their deposit will be forfeited.

Consequently, Seeman’s Naam Tamilar Party has lost its deposit across all 39 constituencies in Tamil Nadu. Despite this, the party has gained political recognition with eight percent of the vote.

In this regard, during a press interaction, Tamil Nadu Congress Committee President Selvaperundhai expressed concern about the voting pattern in Tamil Nadu, noting that disillusioned youths tend to support the Naam Tamilar Party. He cautioned against this trend, labeling it as dangerous for the youth, particularly when voting for divisive figures like Seeman.

The journalist asked, “The vote percentage of Naam Tamilar Party has also increased, how do you see this?” Selvaperundhai replied, “This is very dangerous thing. The most dangerous thing in this country is disillusioned youth voting to Naam Tamilar. There is no other dangerous news than this. He is also a separatist, has no trust in democracy.”

It is noteworthy to mention that Selvaperunthagai himself was once a Tamil nationalist and was a big supporter of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE).

During the 2016 Assembly elections, Congress leader D Yashoda, who had previously served as the representative for Sriperumbudur in 1980, 1984, 2001, and 2006, raised concerns about Selvaperunthagai’s candidacy, alleging his support for LTTE. She had alleged that Selvaperunthangai is a staunch supporter of the LTTE and had joined the Congress with the motive of safeguarding his alleged “ill-gotten wealth”.

Even back then she questioned how the Congress, of all parties, could nominate Selvaperunthagai, who was associated with the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), a pro-LTTE party, in Sriperumbudur – the same location where the LTTE carried out a suicide bombing that killed former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi in 1991.

The 2024 Lok Sabha elections saw the BJP fall short of the majority getting 240 seats on its own. However, Narendra Modi will be swearing in as Prime Minister for the third time on 8 June 2024 as the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has a majority of 290 seats.

In Tamil Nadu, the DMK-led alliance swept the state with 39 seats along with the lone Puducherry seat.

On the other hand, the anti-DMK votes got split between the AIADMK and the BJP.

While the saffron party has emerged runner up in many constituencies, the ADMK’s vote base seems to be eroding.

DisInfo Lab, an online media and non-profit entities watchdog, has exposed a coordinated effort by foreign actors to clandestinely influence the outcome of the 2024 Indian election. Through a series of revelations, it has alleged that millions of dollars have been funneled from nations such as China to Israel with the aim of impacting the election results. Of particular concern is the involvement of Western powers, including the European Union and the United States.

The 2024 elections witnessed unprecedented levels of foreign interference, with foreign media coverage overwhelmingly negative and blatantly biased. Western media outlets employed exaggerated language and double standards, injecting a predetermined narrative into online discourse akin to a competitive mud-slinging contest.

For instance, the BBC published articles with titles like “AI and deepfakes blur reality in Indian elections” and “Lok Sabha 2024: Modi’s party volunteers targeting 100,000 people a day,” while also accusing Modi’s party of demonizing Muslims in videos. Al Jazeera, funded by the Qatari government, ran stories such as “Deepfake democracy: Behind the AI trickery shaping India’s 2024 election” and “Vote Jihad: As Modi raised Anti-Muslim India election pitch, what’s next?” Meanwhile, The Guardian highlighted issues like “How an Indian state became a testing ground for Hindu Nationalism.”

Certain media outlets received implicit or explicit funding, while others were backed by organizations with questionable agendas, such as crafting biased narratives sourced from dubious origins like “random WhatsApp groups” or portraying individuals supported by Pakistan in a positive light. Amidst this cacophony, a disturbing effort to interfere at the micro level and shape voter perceptions was underway. Christophe Jaffrelot, an Indologist  writes extensively on India, emerged as a key figure orchestrating this narrative, particularly promoting a divisive discourse around the caste census, originating from France.

The French media, notably LeMonde, LeSoir, France24, among others, exhibited an unusual level of interest in the Indian elections, often citing Jaffrelot as an expert on various Indian affairs.

Surprisingly, the French media showed an unusual level of interest in the Indian elections 2024 more than other medias of the world.

Jaffrelot, along with his associate Gilles Verniers, operating through the Trivedi Centre for Political Data (TCPD) at Ashoka University, aggressively propagated the notion that lower castes were underrepresented in Indian politics, citing statistics from the 2014 Lok Sabha. However, their stance swiftly shifted when the 2019 Lok Sabha elections revealed an increase in representation from lower castes.

While the duo’s difficulty in accurately categorizing castes sparks its own debate, it hasn’t impacted Jaffrelot’s media “credibility.” His emergence as a proponent of the caste census narrative has actually led to an unprecedented level of references to him across various media outlets in a remarkably short span of time.

Upon delving into social media discussions, we can observe a consistent trend mirroring research findings. Mentions of Jaffrelot in relation to Caste census reached unprecedented levels. This surge coincided with Jaffrelot’s publication of a paper advocating for a caste census in September 2021, suggesting a significant influence on the discourse.

However, what was particularly noteworthy was that the conversation around Caste Census didn’t arise organically, as evidenced by posting patterns. There seemed to be no inherent stimulus for these discussions, akin to observations in news media spanning from India to France. It was almost as if there was an invisible orchestrator guiding the narrative.

It turned out there was indeed an influential force at play, one as potent as any. Concurrent with the discourse on caste and Christophe Jaffrelot’s remarkable popularity, a parallel development unfolded. Jaffrelot had secured substantial funding from the US-based philanthropic entity, the Henry Luce Foundation (HLF), during a similar timeframe.

Henry Luce Foundation (HLF) established by Henry Luce, renowned as the founder of TIME magazine, the HLF’s connections to the deep state are lesser-known. Luce, born to Presbyterian Christian Missionaries and notably supported by another Presbyterian, Nancy McCormicks, had ties to the CIA’s MockingBird project, which utilized media and journalists for covert operations. Luce provided cover for CIA operatives under TIME’s auspices, and his involvement in significant CIA cover-ups is documented.

Despite the founder’s proximity to the deep state, HLF is currently staffed with former US government officials, including a former Deputy Secretary of Defense. HLF collaborates closely with organizations such as AsiaFoundation, CFR, and CSIS.

What was the purpose of this funding? It was allocated as part of a project titled ‘Muslims in a Time of Hindu Majoritarianism,’ granting a substantial sum of $385,000 to Jaffrelot for this endeavor. Such overtly biased subject matter would likely be deemed unacceptable for any other nation, yet it strangely passes muster when directed against India.

Remarkably, the entire narrative surrounding the elections seemed to align precisely with the narrative for which the HLF had pledged funding to the French expert as far back as 2020-21, spanning three years. Additionally, funding was extended to various media outlets.

While the editorial boards of HLF and Time Magazine are purportedly independent entities, there seems to be an enigmatic force at play, as Time’s coverage of Indian Elections 2024 closely echoed HLF’s motives for supporting figures like Jaffrelot. This narrative permeated throughout various channels, appearing ubiquitous.

The narrative extends further, HLF has distributed funds to various other organizations focused on ‘research’ concerning India, many of which received funding around 2020/21, spanning three years until 2024. These organizations, known for their anti-India stance, were tasked with similar agendas.

For instance, Berkeley’s Center for Religion, Peace & World Affairs received a three-year grant of $346,000 in 2021, culminating in the publication of a report in late 2023 titled “The Hindu Right and India’s Religious Diplomacy.”

Another recipient, the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace (CEIP), received $120,000, producing articles on topics like “Authoritarian repression, Hindu Nationalism, emerging Hindu Vote,” among others.

This isn’t the first time CEIP received funding from HLF; in November 2018, they received $40,000 for a project on “Religious Populism and the Future of Indian Democracy,” coinciding with the publication of “The BJP in Power: Indian Democracy and Religious Nationalism” just prior to the 2019 elections. Human Rights Watch (HRW) was allocated $300,000 from HLF to “document religious violence in Asia,” with a focus on countries like India, Myanmar, and Indonesia, as indicated by the HRW URL.

The story gets even more interesting. HLF has given funds to fronts with known affiliations with radical Islamists and even Pak-ISI that were exposed repeatedly for their anti-India propaganda – the likes of Angana Chatterjee, famous for association with convicted ISI mole Ghulam Nabi Fai

One of her organizations, PCRes-CRG, received a substantial sum of $370,000 in April 2021 to investigate “fault-lines between citizenship, religion, and belonging” in South Asia. Notably, Jaffrelot collaborates with Angana on PCRes-acbcd.

PCRes has been actively hosting events since October 2023, focusing on topics like Caste line, Islamophobia, Hindu Nationalism, Indian elections 2024, and Manipur (in partnership with Niang Hangzo, Co-Founder of NAMTA), coinciding with the lead-up to the 2024 elections.

Audrey Truschke, who established the South Asia Scholar Activist Collective (SASAC) in July 2021, also received funding from HLF in May 2023 and published a “Reporting Guide on Hindu Nationalism,” citing the discredited Pakistani project, “HindutvaWatch“.

In summary, HLF, known for its ties to the deep state, has invested millions of dollars in organizations with overtly anti-India biases, strategically timed to coincide with the Indian election cycle. Unlike the Russia Hoax against Donald Trump, this constitutes election interference by the book.

Entering Soros! Intriguingly, the organizations and individuals funded by HLF largely overlap with those supported by the Soros network. Notably, NAMATI, founded by Canadian Ricken Patel, received $300,000 from HLF in 2022 and $13,859,970 from OSF between 2016 and 2022.

Namati redirects its focus towards TCPD, receiving financial backing from Luce/Soros, which subsequently funneled funds to the Centre for Policy Research (CPR), a collaborative organization with TCPD, amounting to at least Rs 12 crore. Jaffrelot was hosted by TCPD. However, funding issues arose, leading to the Indian Income Tax Department revoking CPR’s FCRA.

Patel, known for his serial activism, previously established AVAAZ, Respublica, and Moveon, and served on Access Now’s advisory board—all entities supported by the Open Society Foundations (OSF). In March 2023, Ricken Patel of NAMATI assumed leadership of ‘Friends of Democracy,’ advocating against the ruling party to protect India. Coincidentally, another entity, Friends of Democracy PAC, was co-founded by Jonathan Soros, son of George Soros.

How does ‘Friends of Democracy‘ contribute to India’s salvation? By disseminating propaganda against India’s procurement of Russian oil. If there’s any uncertainty about the narrative, Patel has provided clarity on the matter.

Their strategy involves propagandizing against India’s purchase of Russian oil. While the extent of influence wielded by these narratives, promoted by partly discredited activists and scholars, on Indian voters remains speculative, their infiltration into societal divides is undeniable.

Even more alarming is the enduring impact—’scholars’ such as Audreys and Jaffrelots mutually validate each other, establishing an extensive reference network that will likely shape the narrative on India for the foreseeable future. For instance, Wikipedia. These narratives will subsequently feed into AI models, further perpetuating the tarnished portrayal of India’s history, anchored in the work of discredited scholars, and perpetuated endlessly in printed materials.

Congress leader Jairam Ramesh alleged that Union Home Minister Amit Shah had contacted 150 District Magistrates of an equal number of Parliamentary constituencies to influence the counting process of the recently concluded Lok Sabha polls. Election Commission of India issued a notice to Jairam Ramesh asking him to furnish the details/disclose the names of the DMs. In response, Jairam Ramesh requested that he be given a week’s time to gather the details.

The request from Jairam Ramesh, spokesperson for the Congress, for a week’s time to respond to a letter from the Election Commission of India (ECI) has been denied. The ECI has instructed the Congress leader to provide a response by 7 PM on 3 June 2024 concerning his previous assertions.

A communication sent by ECI dated on 3 June 2024, requested a response by 7:00 PM on the same day. The letter stated, “Dear Sir, 1 am directed to refer to your letter dated 03.06.2024 in response to the Commission’s letter of even number dated 02.06.2024 whereby you have sought an extension of one week to file a detailed reply. Your allegation that attempts have been made to influence the District Magistrates of around 150 Parliamentary Constituencies, who are also the ROs/DEOs, has serious connotation and direct bearing on the sanctity of the counting process, scheduled for tomorrow.”

The letter added, “As mentioned in Commissions letter dated 02.06.2024, no DM has reported any such undue influence as alleged by you. Therefore, the Commission hereby outrightly rejects your request for time extension and directs you to file your response along with the factual matrix/basis of your allegation by 19.00 hours today i.e. 03.06.2024, failing which it would be presumed that you have nothing eubstantive to say in the matter and the Commission would proceed ahead to take appropriate action.”

The Commission highlighted the seriousness of such allegations, emphasizing the need to address them in the public interest. Although no district magistrates reported undue influence, the Commission sought clarification from Ramesh regarding the alleged calls made by Amit Shah to 150 district magistrates. Ramesh had accused the BJP of intimidation tactics, urging officials not to succumb to pressure and uphold the Constitution. As the exit poll results suggested BJP’s return to power with Narendra Modi potentially securing a historic third consecutive term, Ramesh criticized the alleged intimidation tactics and expressed confidence in the victory of the INDIA Janbandhan coalition. He reaffirmed the importance of upholding democratic principles and resisting pressure, stating that officials are being closely observed.

Jairam Ramesh the Congress general secretary of communications via his official X handle claimed, “The outgoing Home Minister has been calling up DMs/Collectors. So far he has spoken to 150 of them. This is blatant and brazen intimidation, showing how desperate the BJP is. Let it be very clear: the will of the people shall prevail, and on June 4th, Mr. Modi, Mr. Shah, and the BJP will exit, and the INDIA Janbandhan will be victorious. Officers should not get under any pressure and must uphold the Constitution. They are under watch.”

In this backdrop today (3 June 2024) during the press briefing the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Rajiv Kumar has strongly responded to allegations made by Congress leader Jairam Ramesh claiming Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s alleged calls to 150 district magistrates after the conclusion of Lok Sabha elections voting.

Kumar emphasized the importance of not spreading rumors and casting doubt on everyone, questioning whether it was feasible for someone to influence all district magistrates. He asserted that if such influence had occurred, the responsible party would face consequences. CEC Rajiv Kumar questioned, “Can someone influence them (DMs/ROs) all? Tell us who did this. We will punish the person who did it…It is not right that you spread a rumour and doubt everyone.”

Additionally, Kumar acknowledged the concerns raised by multi-party delegations ahead of the vote counting, assuring that their demands, including CCTV camera monitoring of control unit movements, would be addressed. Kumar said, “All issues raised by multi-party delegations have been addressed. They demanded that there should be CCTV camera monitoring of the movements of the control units. That will be done,

Tamil Nadu BJP President K Annamalai has roasted Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) chief Seeman amidst a debate over which party holds the position of the third largest in Tamil Nadu in terms of vote percentage. Annamalai accused Seeman of involving the BJP in unnecessary controversies to distract from the allegations made by actress Vijayalakshmi against Seeman.

When asked about Annamalai’s comments about BJP’s significant growth in Tamil Nadu, Seeman, the NTK coordinator, responded by challenging the BJP to contest elections independently. He asserted that a party’s strength should be measured by its standalone performance, questioning how many votes the BJP could secure on its own. Seeman declared that if his party failed to prove its strength, he would dissolve it and leave politics.

Speaking to the reporters, NTK chief Seeman stated, “Stand alone in elections and show that you are a man. How many individual votes did you get after the June 4th election? If it is beyond me, I will dissolve my party. You will know who is the biggest party right? You should not join the alliances (votes), standalone face to face like a lion, fight alone, Then he is a man, he is a fighter.”

In a subsequent press conference in Chennai, Annamalai addressing Seeman’s challenge remarked that Seeman tends to target him whenever Vijayalakshmi raises her voice. Annamalai emphasized that Seeman should respond to Vijayalakshmi’s allegations directly, rather than diverting attention to the BJP.

Annamalai highlighted that the BJP contested in 19 constituencies in Tamil Nadu independently, with party-affiliated independents standing in 4 additional seats. He suggested comparing the BJP’s total votes to those of the NTK, subtracting any votes allegedly bought by the NTK, to determine the true standing of each party.

Referring to Seeman’s previous statements about dissolving his party if it did not surpass the votes of the People’s Welfare Alliance, Annamalai noted that Seeman evaded the issue when the results came out. Annamalai expressed respect for Seeman, emphasizing that he did not wish to engage in irrelevant disputes but maintained that the BJP would perform strongly in upcoming elections, both in Tamil Nadu and nationally.

Annamalai stated, “Let go of brother Seeman, whenever sister Vijayalakshmi talks, brother (Seeman) comes on top of me. Sister Vijayalakshmi will attack from there, and Seeman brother will immediately attack me without any connection. Did I make a fuss on Seeman? He should reply to sister Vijayalakshmi, why is he talking to me, did I make a fuss?”

“I am saying this generously and you are going to see the result on 4th June. Today, Bharatiya Janata Party is standing alone without Dravidian parties, we are standing in nineteen places and symbol is standing in four places. You ask brother Seeman to compare BJP’s 23 seats. I didn’t even say closely and would give minus thirty percent. Let them minus thirty percent of the votes we got, let’s see if he comes closely.”, he added.

“Well, you seem like a good person, so I’ll give you another minus 20 percent discount, so I’ll give you a 50 percent discount. He is running a political party, let he be good, I don’t want to tell him to shut the party down. What did he say earlier? I will buy one vote more than the People’s Welfare Alliance (Makkal Nala Kootani)… The editor has caught him right that the party will dissolve the party. Right after the 2016 election someone asked and he said, ‘I told you but …what’.” He further added

“So, I do not want to leave brother Seeman in this embarrassment, let him run the party, Seeman’s voice is an important voice in Tamil Nadu, and it should be there. I don’t want to get into an argument or debate. I am a person who has respect for Seeman. I am saying not to leave it upon us to divert something without connection. If this is done then on 4th of June, I want to see your face and you have to see our face, I don’t know why he is coming to this match without needing Aga. So, I don’t know why he is unnecessarily coming to this competition.” He finally said

Annamalai concluded by expressing confidence that the BJP would secure more than 400 seats in India and return to power for a third term, referencing Prakash Raj’s unsuccessful bid in the Karnataka elections as an example of the BJP’s competitive edge.

Social media rejoices the recent inquiry made by a news reporter during actress Jyotika visit to Chennai for her film’s promotion. Reporters asked her why she hadn’t voted, and her response to the question surprised everyone and garnered widespread attention on social media, sparking memes and ridicule.

Actress Jyothika, during a media interaction for her film’s promotion, She was queried about her absence from the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections despite her known advocacy for social responsibility. She was surprised and slightly puzzled, not anticipating that someone would raise such a question. Addressing this, she blabbered that voting is a private matter and cited reasons such as being out of town or unwell. She emphasized the existence of online voting and the need to respect individuals’ privacy.

The reporter inquired, “You are talking about social awareness, Jyotika madam is an influence on everyone, when an election comes, you are criticized by many that you don’t come to vote, What’s your opinion and answer?”

Actress Jyothika immediately replied, “I vote year after year, sometimes...”, Before she could finish, the reporter interjected, reminding her that voting occurs once every five years. Jyothika quickly corrected herself, saying,”Yes, five years, I’m sorry. Sometimes, you can be outstation, sometimes for work, we can be out. We can be sick. It is like a private thing. Sometimes, you are not there always in town. So, I don’t know, Sometimes, privately also we vote. It is also in online right. Its not always every time, everything is publicized. There is a private side to life. I think we also have to respect that and give that space.”

Another journalist mentioned that despite Jyothika’s firm stance on social issues, is she has idea of venturing into politics where she could potentially wield more influence, Jyothika clarified that she hadn’t received any invitations from political parties. Regarding the possibility of accepting such invitations, she firmly stated her current focus on family, particularly her children’s education and her personal fitness journey, indicating no inclination towards political involvement at present.

Netizens were taken aback by actress Jyothika’s response when she mentioned the presence of online voting in the Indian election system. They began to mock and ridicule her for her comment as the Election Commission of India (ECI) has made inclusion of home voting only for elderly citizens and Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. This marks the inaugural implementation of such a provision in a national election. This service is accessible to individuals aged 85 and older, as well as PwDs meeting the 40 percent benchmark for disability. Since she wasn’t anticipating the question from anyone directly, she seemed to stutter when it was posed to her.

Indeed, in Tamil Nadu, it’s often the case that individuals woke and support the DMK go unchallenged. However, the recent scrutiny directed towards actress Jyotika for her deliberate absence on voting day has defied this norm. While her husband Suriya participated in the voting process on April 19th, it was widely speculated that Jyotika’s absence was due to her filming commitments. However, she later revealed through a post on the same day that she was actually on a trip to Nepal, sparking criticism and questioning from various quarters.

Netizens expressed frustration as actor couple Suriya and Jyothika, who were previously vocal about various societal issues connecting everything to Hindu faith and practices faced criticism. Jyothika’s earlier call to divert funds from temple renovation to support education and healthcare for the less privileged had sparked debate. Similarly, Suriya, recognized for his selective activism, particularly during the AIADMK government, faced scrutiny when questioned about Jyothika’s absence during voting but chose to stay silent. This fueled speculation and disillusionment among onlookers, especially after videos of her trekking in Nepal went viral.

A netizen commented, “Jyothika went on a pleasure trip to Nepal to celebrate the election as a holiday. But the sermon is only for the town”
