Music Maestro Ilaiyaraaja Slaps ₹5 Crore Legal Notice On ‘Good Bad Ugly’ Makers Over Copyright Violation

Legendary music composer Ilaiyaraaja has sent a legal notice to the makers of actor Ajith Kumar’s latest film Good Bad Ugly (popularly referred to as GBU), seeking ₹5 crore in damages for the alleged unauthorized use of three of his classic songs.

Directed by Adhik Ravichandran, Good Bad Ugly has generated significant buzz both at the box office and online, with fans and critics actively discussing its performance. However, controversy erupted when it was discovered that the film includes three vintage Ilaiyaraaja compositions — Otha Roopaiyum Tharen, En Jodi Manja Kuruvi, and Ilamai Idho Idho — without prior permission.

In his legal notice sent to the film’s production company, Mythri Movie Makers, Ilaiyaraaja has demanded a compensation of ₹5 crore for the unauthorized use of his work. He has also called for the immediate removal of the songs from the film.

The notice further states that the filmmakers must issue an unconditional public apology within seven days, failing which further legal action may be taken.
