A former state secretary of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), Kashif Zubairi, faces allegations of raping a Hindu woman and coercing her to convert to Islam.

On September 30, the victim lodged a zero FIR at Tonk police station. According to Tonk SP Rajesh Meena, since the incident occurred in Jaipur, the zero FIR was transferred to the appropriate Jaipur police station for further action.

Reports indicate that the victim, a married woman with a child and a practicing advocate, has been living apart from her husband due to domestic issues. Allegedly, Zubairi, also an advocate, exploited her vulnerability, engaging in sexual relations with her under the false promise of marriage.

Some accounts claim Zubairi took the woman to a flat in Jaipur, where he gave her tea spiked with sedatives and raped her. When confronted, he allegedly reassured her with marriage promises. The victim further stated that Zubairi repeatedly pressured her to divorce her husband and had sexual relations with her multiple times in the Jaipur flat. She became pregnant once but suffered a miscarriage.

Zubairi later refused to marry her and allegedly blackmailed her using explicit photos and videos. Additionally, the victim claimed Zubairi coerced her and her 10-year-old child to convert to Islam and forced her to sign blank papers.

On August 15, the victim visited Zubairi’s parents in Tonk to discuss the matter, but they rebuked her and sent her away. On September 30, she approached Zubairi again in Tonk, but he dismissed her and threatened her life, prompting her to file a police complaint.The police are currently investigating the case.

Pokharan BJP MLA, Mahant Partap Puri, alleged on Monday that Shakur Khan Mangalia, the former private secretary of ex-Congress minister Saleh Mohammad, had political backing and travelled to Pakistan without official clearance. He emphasised that not just Khan, but those who provided him political protection, will also be investigated thoroughly.

MLA Mahant Partap Puri stated that Shakur Khan was closely associated with Saleh Mohammad for a long time and had access to sensitive events, including military programmes held in the region.

“There is every possibility that confidential information may have been leaked,” Partap Puri said. “It is a matter of deep concern and regret that the minister was unaware of the activities of someone so closely associated with him,” he said.

He further informed the media that he had brought the matter to the attention of Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and BJP state president Madan Rathore, and had also written to the party’s central leadership.

Both Sharma and Rathore, he said, have taken serious cognisance of the issue and assured appropriate action. Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat is also reportedly taking the matter very seriously.

Pratappuri raised concerns about ongoing suspicious activities in border areas and stressed the need for monitoring institutions established by former public representatives in the name of religion and education.

He also recalled that in 2013, a history sheet had been opened on Saleh Mohammad’s father, Ghazi Khan, by the then SP Pankaj Choudhary, but the case was later shelved due to political pressure. He questioned whether political influence in local development schemes had led to irregular land allocations and called for an investigation into the assets and foreign visits of regional public representatives.

Pratappuri also alleged that a pornographic CD case involving Saleh Mohammad had been suppressed due to political patronage. “No one involved in matters concerning national security should be treated lightly,” he said. “Following the arrest of Shakur Khan, locals are now questioning whether, had SP Pankaj Choudhary’s actions been supported back then, such security breaches could have been avoided,” he said.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma said on Thursday that the Congress pushed the country into corruption and also accused them of plotting a plan to nullify the Yamuna water agreement. He added that the cybercrime in Mewat grew in the Mewat region under Congress while the BJP government curbed the menace.

Sharma was speaking at election rallies in Jhunjhunu and Ramgarh in support of BJP candidates Rajendra Bhambhu and Sukhwant Singh. He said that the BJP government provided water to the Shekhawat region people after a long period of 50 years by taking the initiative of signing the Yamuna Water Agreement. “Congress has animosity with the people of Shekhawati as they promised cancellation of this agreement in their manifesto during Haryana Assembly bypolls,” he said.

He further accused the Congress party of pushing the nation towards the politics of appeasement and casteism which incurred huge loss to the nation. Sharma said that the government gives Kisan Samman Nidhi, Vridhajan Samman, Awas, food security and electricity connection to farmers. “We have not done any kind of discrimination in the development of 200 Assembly constituencies of the state. Each Assembly constituency has been given an adequate budget. During the previous government’s time, only Congress MLAs were given a budget for developing their areas,” he claimed. Sharma said that Congress is not concerned with the interests of the common people and has kept the very crucial ERCP project for eastern Rajasthan hanging by playing politics, but it has not made any plan for it.

“However, soon after we formed our government, we understood the needs of the area and signed an MoU. We will also lay the foundation stone of ERCP soon,” he added. He said that Ramgarh has also been connected to ERCP so that the people can get water for drinking and irrigation. “Under ERCP, a network is being created by connecting various rivers of the state so that all the districts of eastern Rajasthan including Alwar will not face a shortage of water,” he said.

He said that the government will give four lakh government jobs to the youth in the next five years.“Out of which we are giving one lakh jobs in the first year itself. About 33,000 youth have also been given appointments. In the recent cabinet meeting, about 90,000 jobs have been approved. Also, for the first time, we have released a recruitment calendar with the date of examination results,” the Chief Minister said.

The city of Udaipur has been gripped by tension following the death of a 15-year-old boy, Devraj Mochi, who succumbed to injuries after being ‘allegedly‘ stabbed by his classmate, Ayaan Sheikh, at a government school. The incident, which has resulted in communal unrest, took place on 16 August 2024 and has led to widespread violence and a significant security clampdown in the city.

Background

Devraj, a class 10 student at Government Senior Secondary School in Bhatiyani Chauhatta, Udaipur, was stabbed with a knife during a heated exchange on school premises by his classmate allegedly named Ayan Khan and sustained severe injuries. He was rushed to Maharana Bhupal Government Hospital, where he battled for his life in the intensive care unit under the supervision of a team of specialists from Jaipur. After four days in critical condition, Devraj passed away on Monday, 19 August 2024.

The news of his death triggered immediate unrest across Udaipur. A large crowd gathered at Mukherjee Nagar Chowk and marched to the hospital, demanding justice and access to the boy. Protests quickly escalated, with mobs taking to the streets, setting vehicles on fire, and attacking properties, including a shopping mall. The situation prompted the district administration to impose Section 144, banning public gatherings and suspending mobile internet services to restore order.

In response to the tragedy, the local government in Udaipur announced a compensation package of ₹51 lakh for Devraj’s family and promised a government job to a family member. However, this announcement has done little to soothe the aggrieved Hindu community, which feels deeply affected by the incident.

Bulldozer Action

Authorities demolished the rented house where Ayan Sheikh’s family lived, which was reportedly constructed illegally on Forest Department land. The 15-year-old accused has been detained under the Juvenile Justice Act.

Devraj’s funeral, held on Tuesday under tight security, saw a large turnout of people expressing their grief and anger. The procession, which started from his home, was accompanied by senior district officials, and chants demanding justice for Devraj echoed throughout the city.

How The Wire Peddled Its Narrative 

Leftist mouthpiece The Wire went overboard with their reporting – they downplayed the murder as an ‘injury‘ and the focus of the report was on the bulldozer action on Khan’s home.

This is an insult to the victim, his family, and the Hindu community. A young life was lost due to an unprovoked and violent attack. Yet, instead of calling out the mentality of the Islamist classmate, The Wire’s framing of this murder as a mere injury is a blatant attempt to diminish the severity of the crime, as if it were a minor altercation.

While the demolition of the house where the accused lived is undoubtedly a significant event, The Wire’s disproportionate focus on this aspect of the story seems like a deliberate attempt to divert attention from the core issue—the brutal murder of a teenage boy. Instead of prioritising the crime, The Wire has highlighted the demolition, framing it as an unjust act against the homeowner, Rashid Khan, who purchased the house in 2019. The article dedicates considerable space to detailing Khan’s financial losses and the hardships faced by tenants while the horrific nature of the murder is downplayed.

Furthermore, The Wire criticises the authorities for demolishing the house because it was illegally constructed on forest land, questioning why the demolition occurred only after the incident. However, the same article fails to hold the accused’s family accountable for their illegal occupation of the land, instead portraying them as victims of a draconian government action.

The Wire’s ‘Illustrious’ History Of Peddling False Narratives

The Wire, run by NRI Siddharth Varadarajan, has been indulging in peddling a certain anti-Hindu, anti-India narrative since its inception. Columnists at The Wire, like Ajai Shukla, published a fake report on US drone sales to India and linked it to Pannun’s “assassination conspiracy.”

In October 2022, The Wire released a controversial article claiming that ShareChat’s parent company Mohalla Tech Pvt. Ltd is involved with Tek Fog, and both were engaged in sharing news favourable to the BJP; ShareChat has released a statement asking the media house to take down the previously disputed articles. Earlier that month, on 10 October 2022, The Wire had published a story in which it alleged that BJP IT Cell Head Amit Malviya can get any social media post on Facebook or Instagram taken down because Meta had given him special privileges. Meta rubbished this allegation.

Siddharth Varadarajan’s wife, a US citizen named Nandini Sundar, who also works as a professor at Delhi University, blamed Israel for Hamas terrorist attack in October last year.

An ‘independent journalist’ made false claims about SBI electoral bonds earlier this year, and The Wire peddled the same propaganda.

The Wire’s columnists are of a separate type – they indulge in all kinds of uncivilised behaviour – Ravi Nair made derogatory comments about PM Modi.

One columnist named Natasha Narwal was booked for inciting the Delhi riots.

Arfa Khanum Sherwani repeatedly makes pro-Muslim (read anti-Hindu) comments and peddles Islamist propaganda through The Wire, ably aided by her boss Varadarajan – they downplayed the attacks against Bangladeshi Hindus. They claimed that they were ‘safe‘ and that the claims were ‘baseless and stupid’.

In such times, the media is responsible for reporting the truth, not manipulating it. As always, The Wire’s coverage of this incident falls woefully short of that standard.

In the Congress-ruled state of Rajasthan, Shanti Dhariwal, the Parliamentary Affairs Minister while addressing in the state Assembly made a contemptible remark when he said if the number of rape cases are high in his state it is because “Rajasthan has always been a region of ‘manly’ persons”.

He said, “There is no doubt in the fact that we are at number one in rape cases. Why are we ahead in rape cases? Is there some fault within us? What can we do? Rajasthan has always been the state of ‘mards’ (men).”

If that was not shameful, in the background some ministers of the Congress party could be heard laughing.

Rekha Sharma, Chairperson of the National Commission of Women (NCW), said the department would take strict action against the minister. She said, “Rajasthan Government has Ministers like these that’s why women of the State are suffering gruesome gender crimes, and police are just don’t do anything. How will women of the state feel safe if it has Ministers like these? NCW is taking strong action against Mr Dhariwal.”

Author and TV panelist Shefali Vaidya in a tweet said, “Congress minister Shanti Dhariwal from Rajasthan jokes about the high number of rapes in Rajasthan by saying ‘Rajasthan is a state of men’ and other MLAs laugh.” She pointed towards the slogan given by Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi during UP elections, ‘Ladki Hun Lad Sakti Hun’ (I am a woman, and I can fight).

Dr Satish Poonia, State President of the BJP in Rajasthan, said, “The shameless confession of being number one in rape in the state and crass statement towards women in the name of men is not only an insult to the women of the state but has also brought down the dignity of men.” He also questioned if Priyanka Gandhi would comment on the matter.

Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga in a tweet said that Shanti Dhariwal is a close confidant of Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and this statement means the Congress party thinks, raping is a sign of men.

In the Congress-ruled state of Rajasthan, a specially-abled girl was found in critical condition after her alleged rapist had left her to die under the Tijara flyover in Alwar, Rajasthan and the girl was taken to JK Lone hospital and admitted to the ICU. 

As per the news report, the girl has undergone major surgeries and is currently stable.

Rajasthan Health Minister Parsadi Lal Meena has confirmed that doctors have successfully operated on her and she is out of danger now.

This horrific incident had taken place on Tuesday (11 January) and the Rajasthan Minister while speaking to ANI has assured that a Special Investigation Team has been formed to investigate the matter. “SIT has been set up to probe the matter. The accused will be arrested and brought to justice at the earliest”, He added. The Minister has assured that the entire treatment of the girl will be the government’s responsibility. 

The medical superintendent of the hospital, Dr. Arvind Shukla said, “The minor was admitted at around 2 am, was under shock and bleeding profusely. A blood transfusion was done. She is stable and has undergone surgery, where plastic surgeons and gynaecologists were called. Her blood pressure has come back to normal.”

Based on the condition of the victim and the nature of the wounds, the police believe the girl was raped and was brutalised with sharp weapons.

SP Tejaswani Gautam said that the police are looking at over 150 CCTV cameras in the area and probable suspects are being interrogated.

Former Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Vasundhara Raje Scindia has raised serious questions about the safety of women in the state. She tweeted, “Rajasthan has become No 1 in crimes against women. This cannot be tolerated. The Congress government needs to take urgent steps to protect women and save them from exploitation.”

Rajasthan has seen an alarming number of attacks on women in the past fewmonths, with several cases of rape and molestation being reported.

On January 10, a mentally challenged woman was brutalised by two men in Banswada.

On January 9, a girl student was gang-raped by three people, after being kidnapped by her own teacher in Jodhpur and Nagaur, January 08, a two-and-a-half-year-old child was taken to the bushes and raped.

In a shocking development in Congress ruled Rajasthan, a bill has been  passed to amend an act on mandatory registration of marriages, including child marriages that led to the opposition staging a walkout from the assembly.

What is even more absurd is that the bill was passed by voice vote.

The Rajasthan assembly passed the Rajasthan Compulsory Registration of Marriages (Amendment) Bill, 2021, which amends the Rajasthan Compulsory Registration of Marriages Act, 2009, on Friday (September 17) and under now information on child marriage must be furnished by their parents or guardians within 30 days of the wedding.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislators walked out of the House and questioned the need for such a law and and demanded the withdrawal of the bill. But the Congress government said that it is mearly following a Supreme Court order.

“It will be a black day for the assembly if this bill is passed. Does the assembly permit us to unanimously allow child marriages? By a show of hands, we will be permitting child marriages. The bill will write a black chapter in the history of the assembly,” BJP MLA Ashok Lahoti said, according to news agency ANI.

Rajasthan parliamentary affairs minister Shanti Dhariwal, however, said that the amendment does not say that child marriages will be valid. “You say that child marriages will be validated. Nowhere does this amendment say that such marriages will be valid. A marriage certificate is a legal document, in the absence of which a widow won’t receive the benefit of any govt scheme,” Dhariwal was quoted as saying by ANI.

People came to know about the name of the team, when the scoreboard started showing the name and it suddenly started creating controversy.

However, the organisers of the cricket tournament said they were unaware of this and swung into action after seeing all the outrage in the Social Media. They were grounded by the many trollers on social media platforms and apologised for this oversite.

Ismail Khan, the organiser of the cricket trophy, said “we were not aware of the team.  The applications were invited online, so we have not paid attention to them.  We had thrown out the team when this matter came to our notice through social media and other means.  Sorry about this whole incident, and we are deeply sorry”.

After the Maha Vikas Aghadi which is the name of the coalition government in Maharashtra took control of three prominent Hindu temples, the Rajasthan government is now working towards acquiring control of the Mehandipur Balaji Temple, one of the most sacred and venerated Hanuman temples in the country, situated in Dausa district, reports Swarjaya.

The assistant commissioner of the Devasthan Vibhag (government department for regulation of temples, charitable institutions, and religious trusts) recently issued a public notification in this regard.

However, this decision has not been accepted by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Dasnam Goswami Community who are the traditional care-takers of Mehandipur Balaji and panchas (headmen) of 100 surrounding villages. They have now registered their protest against this decision and have warned the Ashok Gehlot-led state government of a massive agitation.

This all started after the demise of Mahant Kishor Puri on 8 August as the Dasnam society elected Ganesh Naresh Puri Maharaj as the mahant. However, when the process of deciding the new successor on the seat of the mahant of Mehandipur Balaji (Shri Hanumanji) Temple was still going on the Gehlot government issued a takeover notice on account of “mismanagement” in the temple.

After the takeover notice was issued, the stakeholders were asked to submit their suggestions, latest by 17 August, for the constitution of a ‘management committee’. But this hostile takeover this sacred Hanuman temple will not be an easy task for the Congress because senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)  Arun Chaturvedi who was the former president in the state unit along with former minister Kalicharan Saraf and Golma Devi have reached out to Nareshpuri Maharaj and assured complete support and have made it clear that the BJP will fiercely oppose this move of the state government, reports Dainik Jagran.

Umashankar Sharma who is a central minister called this arbitrary move a big “conspiracy” of the state government. Representatives of the Goswami community have been the mahants of Mehandipur Balaji Temple for hundreds of years have called the take over of the temple by the Congress government as unnecessarily and illegally interfering in temple affairs.

In the Congress-ruled state of Rajasthan, another Dalit man named Krishna Valmiki from Jhalawar was publicly lynched at Haldighati road by Sagar Qureshi, Raes (Kaalu), Imran (Shanu), Akhtar, and others on July 01.

Valmiki was rushed to Jhalawar’s government district hospital but due to the serious injuries sustained during the lynching, he had to be shifted to a city hospital in Jaipur where he succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday (July 6) morning. 

As per reports, Valmiki was dragged out of his car and attacked by prime accused Qureshi and his gang due to personal animosity. After beating him senselessly with sticks and clubs, the attackers left him to die on the road while one of the attackers had allegedly shot the video of the incident which went viral on social media. 

While the main accused have been arrested, the police are on the lookout for the one who shot the video of the lynching.

Valmiki was attacked by at least 12 men who as per the latest report, wanted to take revenge due to an ongoing rivalry and the Police have informed that a group had attacked Qureshi after which he along with his accomplices made a plan to take revenge.

Police have reportedly said that all accused, namely Sagar Qureshi, Raees, Imran, Akhtar Ali, Sohail, Sahid, etc have been arrested and most of them are history sheeters.

After the arrest of Qureshi, and few of his companions on Tuesday, anticipating further violence, police teams had been deployed in several areas of Jhalawar and Jhalrapatan.
