DMK leaders who belong to the I.N.D.I Alliance seem determined to maintain the ongoing controversy surrounding the Sanatana Dharma burning. In their effort to do so, DMK MLA Poondi Kalaivaanan has penned a letter to the principal of the government arts college in Tiruvarur, encouraging students to engage in an event where they can express their perspectives on the topic of ‘Challenging Sanatana Dharma.’

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s son Udhayanidhi Stalin stoked a controversy claiming that Sanatana Dharma is like mosquito, dengue, malaria and corona which has to be eradicated and not just opposed.

Udhayanidhi Stalin made this speech during the Tamil Nadu Progressive Writers and Artists Association organized “Eradicate Sanatanam Conclave” at Kamarajar Chennai on 2 September 2023, akin to the anti-Hindu Dismantling Global Hindutva conference that was held in 2021.

Following his comments, politicians including the alliance partners of DMK such as Congress and Shiva Sena, and some political commentators have condemned Udhayanidhi Stalin’s speech.

Nevertheless, in the face of repeated condemnation from their alliance partners, DMK leaders persisted in their criticism of Sanatana Dharma/Hindu Dharma. In the most recent instance of expressing hatred for the Hindu religion, DMK MLA Poondi Kalaivaanan has written a letter to the Tiruvarur government arts college, encouraging students to voice their opinions on opposing Sanatana Dharma during Annadurai birthday celebrations.

In his letter addressed to the Principal of Thiru Vi Ka government arts and science college, DMK MLA Poondi Kalaivaanan said, “We affectionately refer to our nation as Mother India. Unfortunately, the Sanatanis who infiltrated our country have undermined the cause of feminism in our country. It was only through the Dravida movement that women began to secure their rights. For instance, women gained the right to vote, the freedom to wear blouses, access to property ownership, and opportunities for education. In the present day, as proponents of Sanatana Dharma attempt to reintroduce a birth-based educational system through the New Educational Policy (NEP), our young leader in the Dravidian movement (Udhayanidhi Stalin) has indicated our determination to eradicate Sanatana Dharma. Hence, I extend a warm invitation to students to express their profound thoughts regarding the opposition to Sanatana Dharma during the commemoration of Anna’s birthday, scheduled for September 15th at 03:00 pm in Kalaignar Kottam (hall) at Kattur.”

Ironically, Rajaraman, the Principal of Thiru Vi Ka Government Arts and Science College, has given permission and encouraged the students to participate in the anti-Sanatan Dharma/Hindu Religion event. In a circular to the students of the college, the Principal said, “The female students of this college are requested to share their deep thoughts on opposing Sanatana Dharma on 15th September, during the celebration of Anna’s birthday, commencing at 03:00 pm at Kattur’s Kalaignar Kottam.”

It’s paradoxical that the principal of a government college is promoting student involvement in an event orchestrated by a political party, and furthermore, urging them to express their views against a particular religion.

Tamil Nadu BJP State Secretary SG Suryah slammed the DMK government for its anti-Hindu behavior. In a tweet, SG Suryah said, “The Tamil Nadu government’s overtly anti-Hindu stance is pushing boundaries. Under the pressure of Thiruvarur DMK MLA Poondi Kalaivanan, girl students are forcibly invited to speak against Sanathana Dharma in Thiruvarur Govt college It would be wise for people around puppet MK Stalin to advise him not to play with fire.”

Recent reports suggest that, in response to public outrage, the principal has revoked the circular.

Following the unfortunate incident during AR Rahman’s concert, which resulted in the molestation of a woman, deception of the audience, a stampede, and a 12-hour traffic jam in a prominent area of Chennai, a video featuring Ilayaraja expressing concern for his fans has gained popularity on social media. Many are now praising Maestro Ilaya’Raja’ as a true ‘Raja’ for his caring attitude.

The concert is ironically and aptly titled “Marakkuma Nenjam” – which roughly translates to “Will the heart forget?“, turned out to be a nightmarish experience, which the attendees are sure to never forget. 

The event was originally scheduled for August but owing to the weather, it was postponed to September. The event took place at Adityaram Palace City in Paniyur near ECR. 

Thanks to blatant mismanagement, concert-goers endured a series of woeful incidents. These included being denied entry to the venue despite having valid tickets, losing track of their children, relatives, or friends in the crowded chaos, experiencing panic attacks, facing instances of groping and molestation, and feeling suffocated due to the lack of space. The already challenging situation was exacerbated by the traffic in Chennai, poor parking availability, and the fact that it was a Sunday evening. 

Even when a significant number of people were urgently leaving the venue to safeguard their lives, AR Rahman continued with his concert, claiming ignorance, particularly when the commotion would’ve been clearly visible from the stage.

Amid severe backlash Rahman issued a vague statement on X on 11 September 2023, which did not come across as an apology or a show of empathy towards the fans regarding the events that transpired the previous evening. He did not mention anything about issuing a refund, he just posted, “Dearest Chennai Makkale, those of you who purchased tickets and weren’t able to enter owing to unfortunate circumstances, please do share a copy of your ticket purchase to arr4chennai@btos.in along with your grievances. Our team will respond asap”. 

Amidst this situation, an old video of Maestro Ilayarajaa demonstrating his approach to managing seating confusion at one of his concerts and displaying genuine empathy for fans who had purchased tickets is currently gaining widespread attention on social media.

In the video, Maestro Ilayaraja can be heard expressing, “My dear fans, I notice that some of you who purchased ₹500 tickets are now occupying seats meant for ₹10,000 tickets. I appreciate your love and enthusiasm, but this isn’t the right way to go about it. If those who bought ₹1,000 tickets take seats that belong to others, where will the rightful ticket holders sit? Won’t they blame me for your actions?”

This video is currently gaining significant traction on social media, lauding Ilayarajaa for his adept handling of seating issues and subtly criticizing AR Rahman for not offering an apology to the women who experienced molestation during his event.

Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker Appavu, who has previously expressed support for Christianity and made derogatory remarks about the Hindu religion, has once again made divisive comments about Sanatana Dharma/Hinduism. During his speech at the Golden Jubilee program of the Palayankottai Diocese, he alleged that Sanatana Dharma had deprived 96% of Hindus in Tamil Nadu of education.

Appavu, the speaker, asserted, “Sanathanam implies that only 4% of the population is entitled to education, while the rest are destined to be subservient. This constitutes its underlying doctrine. If it hadn’t been for Lord Macaulay’s arrival in 1835 and the subsequent passage of the Education Act, we would not have had access to education. Institutions like Xavier College and Xavier School, where we are currently gathered, would not have had a presence if the British had not passed laws in 1795 that allowed everyone to acquire land.”

He added, “Looking back 111 years to 1912, the region comprising Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, and a part of Odisha was home to languages such as Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Tulu. At that time, a staggering 94 out of every 100 graduates belonged to the same community, with 4% accounting for 94% of all graduates, while the remaining 96% held only a 6% share of the degrees. This reflects the prevailing education system and social conditions of that era.”

He further said, “125 years ago, individuals traveling from South Tamil Nadu to Chennai for education faced discrimination and were not permitted to eat or stay at establishments like Mysore Cafe. Those journeying from the southern districts in need of accommodation were predominantly part of the 96% Hindu population who were denied education and the right to stay in hostels. It was during this time that the South Indian Welfare Rights Association was established, leading to the establishment of hostels by the YMCA in many places in Chennai, thereby providing much-needed accommodation for students.”

Appavu went on to say, “Some now refer to the policies of Sir Vaikunder as “Sanatanam.” Sir Vaikunder, originally known as Mudisoodum Perumal, was a prominent figure who vehemently opposed Sanatana Dharma, the caste system, and oppression over 200 years ago. He was given the name Muthukutty by the Maharaja of Travancore, who argued that being born in Izhikulam made it inappropriate for him to carry the name Perumal. It was this Muthukutty who became Vaikundar, an important historical figure. Vaikunder advocated for equality among all individuals and discouraged idol worship, as he believed it unnecessary, suggesting that people from the privileged 4% would predominantly engage in such practices. He emphasized that one’s conscience should be their guide, all while identifying himself as a Hindu. His relative, Narayana Guru, also faced discrimination and was denied the right to walk on Somanathar Temple Street in Vaikam.”

“The oppression faced by individuals like Sir Vaikunder and Narayana Guru was so severe that even walking on that street, let alone entering the temple, was forbidden. The efforts of individuals like Periyar and Kamaraj, who fought against this discrimination, helped to pave the way for progress. Today, Tamil Nadu has made significant strides in education, economics, and development, largely due to the contributions of Christian preachers who came to serve the entire community,” Speaker Appavu highlighted.

In this situation, Nellai district secretary of Hindu Munnani CS Vimal has filed a complaint with Palayamkottai police demanding action against Speaker Appavu for denigrating Hindu religion in a Christian meeting.

In their complaint, Hindu Munnani said, “On the 10th of September 2023, during a speech at the Palayankota Xavier College grounds as part of the Balayankot District Golden Jubilee ceremony, Tamil Nadu Speaker Appavu made remarks suggesting that the denial of education to 96% of Hindus was synonymous with “Sanathanam.” He insinuated that this term implied that only 4% of the population was entitled to an education while the rest were relegated to a status akin to slavery. This speech, delivered in a gathering predominantly attended by Christians, was seen by some as an attempt to disrupt law and order and sow discord and religious animosity, particularly against Hinduism.”

The complaint added, “In the wake of the speaker’s speech, certain Islamic organizations have also taken to social media platforms to express disparaging views about Hinduism, amplifying the divisive sentiments further. As a result, many Hindus, including myself, have been deeply hurt by the offensive remarks made by Speaker Appavu during his address to a Christian audience. It is disconcerting that such derogatory comments about Hinduism were made at a gathering of another faith community.”

The complaint ended by urging, “I kindly urge you to initiate the necessary legal proceedings aimed at fostering peace and justice in response to Speaker Appa’s remarks, which were delivered in a manner that could potentially incite religious animosity.”

The tragic passing of a 4-year-old boy undergoing treatment for dengue fever in Chennai’s Maduravoyal region has left the community deeply saddened. Nevertheless, it is disheartening to observe ministers of the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam(DMK), including Udhayanidhi Stalin, who are responsible for public welfare, engaging in emotionally charged ‘Sanatana Dharma’ politics. Demonstrating a lack of empathy, Udhayanidhi continues his Sanatana Dharma political tactic by sharing an image of a mosquito coil as a subtle jab at Tamil Nadu Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) leader Annamalai, when the state’s health care system is in need of attention.

Ayyanar and Sonia, residents of Maduravoyal, Chennai, are parents to two sons. Their elder son, Rakshan, aged 4, was a pre-KG student at a local private school. On 6 September 2023, Rakshan was admitted to the intensive care unit of the Children’s Hospital in Egmore due to a persistent fever, later diagnosed as dengue fever. Tragically, despite intensive medical care, the young boy succumbed to the illness, leaving his family devastated.

In the aftermath of Rakshan’s death, the grieving parents and relatives staged a protest, placing the boy’s body on the road. They alleged negligence on the part of municipal officials, holding them responsible for their son’s demise. Police intervened to manage the situation and initiate negotiations with the distraught family.

Residents in the area have raised concerns about the lack of proper water supply infrastructure. They claimed that the water, transported by corporation vehicles and stored in barrels due to the absence of a water pipe facility, became a breeding ground for disease-carrying mosquitoes. Furthermore, residents pointed out the absence of a functional sewage system and the illegal disposal of wastewater in the area, leading to foul odour and potential health risks for children and adults alike. They are demanding accountability and action against the responsible officers and employees of the corporation.

Amidst this dire situation, Udhayanidhi Stalin, often seen as a de facto Chief Minister, chose to engage in ‘Sanatana Dharma’ political tactics. In a move seemingly aimed at countering Tamil Nadu BJP President Annamalai’s characterisation of DMK as the “Dengue Malaria Kosu (Mosquito)” party, Udhayanidhi shared an image of a mosquito coil. However, this tweet was met with strong public disapproval and criticism, especially considering the fresh wound of a young child’s death from a mosquito-borne illness in their locality.

Addressing Udhayanidhi Stalin in a tweet, an angry social media user expressed, “Mr. Udhayanithi Stalin, why share such an absurd post when you haven’t been able to effectively combat dengue? Much like your father, who bears a resemblance to King Nero, it seems you’re also fiddling while real issues persist.”

Following Udhayanidhi’s speech, DMK spokesperson Constantine Ravindran has sparked another controversy by what can be construed as a racist statement, asserting that people of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar lack common sense and intelligence because of the domination of Santana Dharma.

Even before the dust could settle on Udhayanidhi Stalin’s remarks, DMK MP A. Raja likened Sanatana Dharma to HIV AIDS and leprosy. The DMK Lok Sabha MP who is also the Deputy General Secretary of the party said that Udhayanidhi had only compared Sanatana Dharma to diseases like malaria and dengue, and went on to say that Sanatan Dharma should be compared to HIV and social stigmas.

In this situation, Indu Makkal Katchi chief Arjun Sampath had staged a protest against Tamil Nadu Sports Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin and HR&CE Minister PK Sekhar Babu. During the protest, IMK raised slogans to dismiss and arrest both ministers. Following the protest, IMK chief Arjun Sampath and the cadres of IMK were arrested.

During a recent press conference addressing the matter a few days back, Arjun Sampath, the leader of IMK, expressed his disapproval of the participation of Hindu Religious & Charitable Endowment Minister Shekhar Babu and Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin in the Sanatana Eradication Conference held in Chennai on behalf of the Tamil Nadu Progressive Writers’ & Artists Association. He characterized this involvement as both condemnable and unconstitutional. In light of this, Sampath called for the immediate resignation of Minister Shekhar Babu and Udhayanidhi Stalin from their respective positions.

He also questioned if Udhayanithi would attend if they conducted Christian Abolition Conferences and Muslim Abolition Conferences. He added that the cadres of IMK would present a complaint petition in all the districts, insisting on the immediate dismissal of Minister Shekharbabu and Udhayanidhi.

On Thursday (7 September 2023), Tamil Nadu’s Chief Minister, MK Stalin, released a statement in support of his cabinet colleague and son, Udhayanidhi Stalin’s comments regarding ‘Sanatan Dharma.’ He stated that Udhayanithi’s remarks were directed towards the principles that promote discrimination against Scheduled Castes, tribals, and women.

In a sharp rebuttal to the Tamil Nadu CM’s statement defending his son Udhayanithi, TN BJP president Annamalai said that if something needs eradication from Tamil Nadu, it is the DMK.

Tamil Nadu BJP president Annamalai in a video said, “Honorable Chief Minister Thiru M .K. Stalin Sir, Vanakam. We all happened to read your statement that was put out on the social media handle and also your son’s statement that was put out on his social media handle. It is good that both of you are toning down and both of you know that you are fighting a losing battle over the last 3 -4 days. And today, not only have you defended something, but also you have spoken some lies against our Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji. I believe it is my bounding duty as a BJP Karyakarta to respond to that. ”

Annamalai added, “I am sure with the way our Honorable Prime Minister is working with integrity and hard work, even as we speak now, he is in Indonesia promoting our national interest, and immediately on September 9 and 10, the G20 meeting that is going to happen where India will be at the center stage of the global map. So, please don’t bother our Prime Minister to respond to your unfounded, false, and diabolical allegations.”

Annamalai said, “Sir, at the outset, you mentioned Sanatana Dharma which essentially itself practices discrimination. That is why your movement is founded. Sir, I would like to take back you to two eminent leaders who were born out of your movements. One is the great leader from the scheduled caste community, Mr. M .C. Raja. Do you know, sir, why did he quit the Justice Party in 1923? A great Dalit leader, M .C. Raja, he quit the Justice Party in 1923 because he said the very founding principle of the Justice Party was not in tune with what they practiced. Justice Party, when they came into existence, they said they wanted to abolish the Brahminical domination in Tamil Nadu. That was their allegation from the Justice Party. M .C. Raja said the so-called Brahminical domination is replaced by the upper caste Hindu domination. There is no space for an SC leader inside the Justice Party. That is why painfully he quit in 1923.”

He further said, “I am sure, sir, you will not have missed out on Madam Satyavani Muthu. She was the first Dalit woman minister from Tamil Nadu. In 1974, right inside the Tamil Nadu assembly, as a member of your father’s cabinet, she leveled serious allegations against Mr. Karnanidhi inside the assembly stating that Mr. Karnanidhi was against the interest of the Dalit community and SC community. The funds are not being given. So, she has got certain misgivings. And inside the assembly, in Indian history, we never seen a minister complaining against her own chief minister. What is the price Madam Satyavani Muthu got? She was dismissed from the ministry and later she was removed from the party also. These are some of the instances where I can give you the early part of your movement, how Dalit leaders were treated right inside your party. When you say that you are here to abolish certain ills of Sanatana Dharma and to promote equality, it is like Satan talking about Vedas to God. So, please don’t get into that territory, sir. That is my humble submission to you.”

Annamalai further added, “Also, sir, you mentioned that DMK as a party is very progressive. Anyone who is looking at your cabinet, current cabinet now, out of 35 ministers, 3 ministers are from the SC community. and 2 women ministers. Do you call this as progressive? Less than 10 %? And all the brothers and sisters who have come from the SC community, you have given some minor portfolios to them, insignificant portfolios. Look at our Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji’s current cabinet. I am just doing a basic comparison. Out of the 79 ministers, 20 ministers are from the SC, ST community. 11 ministers are women. 5 ministers are from the minority community. I am sure, sir, you will clearly understand that you really don’t practice what you preach. Even if I take Uttar Pradesh, out of 52 ministers, 9 ministers are from the SC, ST community. So, you don’t give them political rights. You don’t give them political powers. Then what are you talking about? Improving the standards of the oppressed community.”

Annamalai went on to say, “Again, I would like to bring certain things for your recall, sir. In Tirunelveli, when the Manjolai tea workers protested, and when they were brutally killed because of the police action when they jumped into the Tamarabarani river, close to 17 people got killed, including a month-old child. When the action was sought against the police officer, what did your father Kalingar Karunanidhi say? He said, no and said, ” If I take action against some police officers, their community will feel offended; So, I am not going to take action.” So, DMK as a party is run on caste lines. DMK as a party is meant to promote caste in Tamil Nadu. That is why, more than any other part of India, Tamil Nadu sees the highest number of caste violence. Tamil Nadu sees the highest number of caste conflicts. Tamil Nadu has got the highest number of caste fault lines. The latest research says the prevalence of two Tumbler systems is one of the highest in Tamil Nadu. That is why we had a shameful spectacle last year, when during Independence Day, under your regime, many panchayat leaders belonging to the SC community were not allowed to host their flag. And we raised a big agitation and demonstration for that. So, what are you talking about, sir?”

Annamalai said, “Sanatana Dharma by its very nature is timeless. It doesn’t have an origin, doesn’t have an end. Sanatana Dharma predates any religion. Sanatana Dharma, as a Dharma, it believes a human being is a God. It also, not only human beings, it looks at all living beings. By its very nature, it treats everybody equally. Of course, there are humans inside every religion. Some of the discriminative practices are brought out by humans. When one human brings out the discriminative practice within a Sanatana Dharma, the other human beings like great saints and reformers who come within the Sanatana Dharma, give a voice against the discrimination and try and abolish it. That is why we have Swami Sakajananda. That is why we have Dayanand Saraswati. That is why we have some of the greatest reformers within the Tamil Hindu society, who were the crusaders to remove some of the ill effects brought inside the Sanatana Dharma by human beings. For that, your son wants to eradicate Sanatana Dharma itself. It clearly shows what little understanding you have about Sanatana Dharma and your son’s understanding about Sanatana Dharma. This is the land of Alwars and Nayanmars.”

Annamalai added, “Out of the 63 Nayanmars, 17 Nayanmars none of them are Brahmins. What about the rest of the community? Many Nayanmars come from the oppressed community. We worship them as saints. This is the spiritual land. Out of all Alwars, 3 Alwars are Brahmins. Where do the rest of the Alwars come from? They come from oppressed communities. So, what are you talking about? This is a God where a person who belongs to the oppressed community is treated as a God. We worship them.”

Annamalai said, “Your son, he calls himself a practicing Christian in December 2022. Now he says he doesn’t have any faith over it. In the Sanatana Abolition Conference, your HR&CE minister sits on the dais where your ideologue, Dravidakalakam’s current president Ki Viramani says, that Sanatana Dharma means Hinduism. Can you give a condemnation statement against Mr. Ki Viramani for stating Sanatana Dharma is the same as Hinduism, which is what you are refusing?”

Annamalai further said, “Now, Mr. Chief Minister, please understand, your lies will not keep working. You live in the age-old premise that a thousand lies which is getting repeated 10,000 times will become a thousand truth. Here it is not going to happen. The people of Tamil Nadu have seen you; have seen the historic corruption that you have brought into the administration; have seen your family dominating the Tamil Nadu administration, and your son and son-in-law swindling money. We have leveled very serious allegations against you, including the release of PTR tapes, where you said on record, that your previous finance minister talked about your son and son-in-law’s amazing close to 30,000 crores. The Madras High Court a few days back has said that the mere continuation of Senthil Balaji as a minister is violating all democratic ethos and norms that are required for good governance. Still, you have kept him as a minister and the taxpayers are giving him a salary. What are you talking about probity in governance? Nobody is afraid of the INDI Alliance. All of us wanted the INDI Alliance because once the INDI Alliance comes, the people of India will see it. The dynast, the corrupt, the cabals, the elitist, and the family-run parties, all sitting in one high table. It is like Judas trying to go after the Christ after the great supper.”

Annamalai added, “In Sanatana Dharma, Christian faith, Muslim faith, Sikh faith, any other faith is as important as a Hindu faith. That is how the government of India, that is how the Honorable Prime Minister, that is how Narendra Modi ji has been doing the administration for the last nine years plus. Please don’t leave any allegations that you don’t know about. So the coming election we have challenged you. Let us fight on Sanatana Dharma. Let DMK say it is going to abolish Sanatana Dharma. We will say we will protect and preserve Sanatana Dharma. We will see where the people of Tamil Nadu are going to vote.”

In his concluding remarks, Annamalai said, “After you come to power, the first year is opposing Sanatana Dharma. The second year, you say abolishing Sanatana Dharma. Third year, you want to brutally root out Sanatana Dharma. Fourth year you say you are a Hindu. You say 90 % of DMK party men are Hindu. Fifth year, you take a “VEL” to say you are also a Hindu. So this drama, Tamil Nadu has seen for the last many many decades. When elections come, you suddenly become an Amar and an Akbar and an Antony, which Mr. Rahul Gandhiji for the last 17 failed attempts is trying to do the same thing. Becoming Amar in one state, becoming Akbar in one state, becoming Antony in one state. The people of India and the people of Tamil Nadu and the whole of Bharat have read into your elitist, cabal, family-oriented, corrupt practices. Come 2024, DMK as a party is going to get wiped out. I didn’t say it. Your son said it. Because D stands for dengue, M stands for malaria and K stands for kosu. Good luck, sir.”

If something needs eradication from Tamil Nadu, it is the DMK.

In a significant breakthrough, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) apprehended the fugitive chief of the ISIS Thrissur module, Siyed Nabeel Ahammed, in Chennai today (September 6), thwarting his attempts to flee the country. Syed Nabeel Ahammed, who had been on the run for several weeks, was captured by the NIA’s Fugitive Tracking Team, which had been diligently tracking his movements.

Syed Nabeel Ahammed, “Ameer(leader)” of the Thrissur-based ISIS Module, was discovered in possession of incriminating documents and electronic equipment at the time of his arrest. His capture marks a significant development in the ongoing investigation into the activities of the Thrissur-based ISIS cell.

The NIA had been closely monitoring Siyed Nabeel’s movements, who had been hiding in various locations across Tamil Nadu and Karnataka in recent weeks. He had reportedly been planning to escape the country using falsified and fraudulent passports, with Nepal as a transit point.

This is the third arrest made in connection with the investigation into the Thrissur-based ISIS module since July. In a prior operation, the NIA apprehended one Ashif alias Mathilakath Kodayil Ashraf in July from his hideout near Sathyamangalam, Tamil Nadu. The NIA registered the case on July 11 based on credible information, invoking various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.

The investigation revealed that the Thrissur-based ISIS module had been plotting acts of terror in Kerala, including raising funds for their nefarious activities through a series of illegal activities, including dacoities within the state. The group’s intention to carry out terror acts had raised serious concerns among law enforcement agencies.

The NIA issued a statement highlighting the growing threat posed by the ISIS in India. “ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria) is a transnational militant Islamist terrorist group that is also known as Islamic State (IS) and the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, as well as by its Arabic acronym Da’ish or Daesh. The organization has intensified its activities in India by positioning modules in various States and actively recruiting motivated youth who subscribe to its jihadist philosophy,” the NIA spokesperson said.

In a tragic incident, the Tamil Nadu BJP youth wing vice president of Paramakudi Union has self-immolated allegedly due to police foisting false cases against him and harassing him.

In a strongly worded statement, Tamil Nadu BJP President Annamalai has condemned the police excess and accused the police force of being a lapdog of the ruling DMK government.

Annamalai said, “I am profoundly disturbed to learn that today, Mr. Tamilchelvan, the Vice President of the Youth Wing in the Paramakudi Union BJP, has resorted to self-immolation at the Parthibanur Police Station. This drastic action is a result of unfounded charges and persistent oppression by the Tamil Nadu Police.”

Annamalai added, “The complete transformation of the Tamil Nadu Police Department into a lapdog of the DMK is a matter of grave concern. Forgetting that everyone is equal before the law, the ruling party’s intimidation and harassment of the BJP will not be tolerated.”

He went on to say, “Tamil Nadu BJP Ramanathapuram District President Mr. Tharani Murugesan and Tamil Nadu BJP State President Mr. Ramesh Siva staged a protest in front of the police station against police repression. I urge that if this kind of discrimination by the police continues, they will have to face opposition from the BJP all over Tamil Nadu.”

DMK spokesperson Constantine Ravindran has sparked controversy by what can be construed as a racist statement, asserting that people of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar lack common sense and intelligence because of the domination of Santana Dharma.

This statement from a DMK’s official spokesperson comes even as the dust is yet to settle on Udhayanidhi Stalin likening Sanatana Dharma to Dengue, Malaria, and Corona and calling for its eradication.

Udhayanidhi Stalin made these comments during the Eradicate Sanatanam Conclave” organized by Tamil Nadu Progressive Writers and Artists Association at Chennai, akin to the anti-Hindu Dismantling Global Hindutva conference that was held in 2021.

Following his comments, politicians including the alliance partners of DMK such as Congress and Shiva Sena, and some political commentators have condemned Udhayanidhi Stalin’s speech.

In this situation, as the pressure on DMK was mounting nationwide for the hate speech of Udhayanidhi Stalin. Former judges, government officials, and war veterans have collectively written a letter to the Chief Justice of India, urging him to initiate suo motu proceedings in response to the hate speech delivered by DMK Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin.

And now to make things worse, DMK spokesperson Constantine Ravindran made a racist statement claiming that the people of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh are uneducated, and lack common sense and intelligence because of prevalence of Sanatana Dharma.

While responding to a question on whether Udhayanidhi’s remarks on the eradication of Sanatana Dharma will affect the votes of I.N.D.I alliance, Constantine Ravindran said, “Certainly the statement of Udhayanidhi will have no negative impact. Did anyone from Kerala, Karnataka, or Andhra make any statements against Udhayanidhi? Nothing. Even in North India, did everyone accept Sanatana Dharma in places like West Bengal? West Bengal was ruled by Communists. Did Communists accept Sanatana Dharma?”

He added, “Only in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, do people follow Sanatanam. No one is educated there because Sanatanam flourished in those states. They do not have intelligence. They do not have rationality in their life. In these two states, there may be a small impact. But those two states will not affect us.”

It is worth noting that the state of Bihar is ruled by Nitish Kumar of Janata Dal (United) and Tejasvi Yadav of Rashtriya Janata Dal who are part of I.N.D.I Alliance in which DMK is also a member. The DMK spokesperson’s racially insensitive remark targeting the people of Bihar is bound to further anger coalition partners, JDU and RJD. This internal discord is giving rise to significant skepticism among political analysts regarding the alliance’s viability leading up to the upcoming parliamentary elections next year.

BJP Mahila Morcha National President and Coimbatore South MLA Vanathi Srinivasan has slammed Udhayanidhi Stalin for his remarks on eradicating Sanatana Dharma (Hindu Religion) while being a Christian. Vanathi Srinivasan said that such remarks go against the principles of his sworn office.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s son Udhayanidhi Stalin stoked a controversy claiming that Sanatana Dharma like Dengue, Malaria, and Corona has to be eradicated and not just opposed.

The incident happened during the Tamil Nadu Progressive Writers and Artists Association organized “Eradicate Sanatanam Conclave” at Kamarajar Chennai on 2 September 2023, akin to the anti-Hindu Dismantling Global Hindutva conference that was held in 2021. This conference, which openly discusses the destruction of Hindu Dharma, has raised serious questions about the political climate in the state.

Following his comments, politicians including the alliance partners of DMK such as Congress and Shiva Sena, and some political commentators have condemned Udhayanidhi Stalin’s speech.

BJP Coimbatore South MLA Vanathi Srinivasan chastised Udhayanidhi saying, “Udhayanidhi speaking like this is against the religion of a particular people (Hindus). Secondly, it is against the beliefs of the people belonging to that community. Thirdly, Udayanidhi Stalin’s speech was part of an agenda to woo minority votes and to convert Hindus to minority religions.”

Vanathi Srinivasan added, “He has clearly said that his wife is a Christian and that he believes in Christianity. Therefore, while being a Christian, how can he justify not breaching his oath of office when he advocates for the elimination of Hindu religious beliefs?”

Udhayanidhi Stalin spilled the beans that he and his wife are Christians while speaking at a Christmas celebration event organized on 22 December 2022 at Chennai.

“I’m proud to call myself a Christian. Today, all Sanghis (a colloquial reference denoting devout Hindus and supporters of RSS-BJP) will be burning. Because Sekarbabu (Tamil Nadu Hindu Religious & Charitable Endowments Minister) is saying ‘Hallelujah’, Udhayanidhi is saying ‘I’m a Christian’. Yes, I will say that I’m a Muslim too.”, DMK Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin had said.
